Ron Weasley and Hermione granger were destined to be together in JK Rowling’s mind as she had a personal desire to see them together. It was quite a tumultuous relationship throughout but something definitely appeared to be in the works. However, those who spotted the chemistry early on, wondered just when it was going to happen..but who fell in love first? Ron? Or Hermione?

Ron is the most realistic character in the entire series and that's why I love him. People who struggle with self esteem issues can easily relate with him. Ron has done a great deal to put up being overshadowed by his siblings and his 2 best friends. He has struggled at times but always accepted his limitations and mistakes in the end

Bruh Rowling is just straight up running out of ideas and trying to (needlessly, actually) keep the franchise alive, she also said Ginny's dead, because an ISIS wizard killed her on a spy mission. Like taf. Ginny, with her personality traits and a loving family, a spy? No. And... Bringing ISIS into the wizarding world? She's just saying the stupidest, and the most controversial stuff she can come up with, I don't even take it seriously, Ginny's still alive and I don't care what Rowling's got to say. Also Dumbledore isn't gay as she said, I don't give a shit.

Ron liked her and Hermione admired him, in the beginning. I’ve recently reread the first book and it mentions a few times that he was uncomfortable picking on her, but he did anyway cause that’s what young boys do when they like someone, they tease them, but they don’t know the line they shouldn’t cross is. Hermione surely admired him in the beginning, she was very bossy and a show off as a means of impressing him, to show she was just as talented as him. I think they fell in love at the same time. They both knew it in the goblet of fire, just were finding it difficult to understand it, cause you know, they were teenagers.

Some people believe Harry Potter and Hermione Granger should have ended up together, I don't believe that myself. They had a more brother/sister type of relationship. Many people believe Harry should have ended up with Cho Chang. I believe Harry ending up with Ginny Weasley was meant to be. Ron loves that Harry is now is Brother-In-Law, Hermione is now Harry's Sister-In-Law, they are one big happy family the way it was meant to be. I agree though, they should’ve mentioned love magic at Hogwarts! The Truth of the matter is I feel like Hermione liked Ron for a long time possibly even from the beginning. (You have dirt on your nose just there, Did you know?) Hmmmmmm why were you looking so closely at him? When Ron begins to barf up slugs any other girl in Hermione's position would have been grossed out and ran away but NO not Hermione. She comes to him as soon as she can and helps get him to Hagrid. Although in the second book I can actually see so many hints of Ron having strong feelings for Hermione even if they were just really close friends I don't think it really started until the third one (The Prisoner of Azkaban) Can I just point out I think it's so cute how they fight like a married couple? Yes, Ron and Hermione argue but it's only because they are both strong people with very different personalities. I for one think that the fact that they can still fight but it doesn't ruin their relationship makes them more realistic. There is no such thing as a couple who NEVER fights. I love how neither of them try and change the other one and how neither of them try to "dumb themselves down" for the relationship to work. Ron's early feelings for Hermione in particularly at the Yule Ball were something of jealousy. He couldn't stand to watch someone he loved be with somebody else. I still LOVE that one lign in the book "Harry thought Hermione saw the point even better than Ron did" While we're on the subject of Harry mayvi just point out that he said himself in the very same book that he'd rather hang out with Ron then Hermione because being around her wasn't as much fun? I honestly feel like Ron and Hermione both had feelings for each other but I think Ron's progressed faster. He just wasn't sure how to go about it. While Hermione I feel like had always considered the thought of being with Ron from day one but had never really put much pressure on it condsitering school was top priority. ( Follow her example kids!!!) Also Hermione's worst fears are failiure would she was afraid that she may fail with Ron? Also can we just remember that the books begin when they're 11 and yes I know that now there are plenty of kids dating at like 12-14 but Hermione isn't an average Girl. She knows what she wants and works hard so even if she did like Ron she would never put much in because she was usually dealing with something more important than a crush she was either studying or chasing Ron and Harry around Hogwarts making sure they didn't get into too much trouble. Do you think they'll ever have a normal year at Hogwarts? But to answer the question who fell in love first. I think they both had feelings at pretty much the same time but Ron's turned into love first even if he couldn't see it. While Hermione I feel always had something for Ron she struggled to decide what that was and wasn't ready to come to the conclusion that it was love so she didn't accept it. While Ron growing up and constantly doubting himself he just didn't see Hermione with him. It's no wonder why it took so long for all of this to come to the surface. That kiss really was a long waited for.
I know this was long and may have board you to death. (I'm sorry) LOL 😁😉💖💖💖💖💖

I think I'm almost of the opposite opinion. Hermione liked Ron first, since she tries so hard to befriend him in Book 1, but Ron might have fallen in love first. He's pretty overt about his romantic interest from Phoenix onward, whereas Hermione knows why he's jealous of Krum in book 4 and stays guarded about her own feelings for another two years, brushing off his compliments etc. I like that there is so much ambiguity though.

  • @neptunians
    @neptunians Před 5 lety +118

I definitely think they liked each other from the beginning on, it was SO obvious, because there was such a massive chemistry and tension between them from the first movie and book on. But Hermione was more mature and realized it first that she had feelings for him. Yet, as you said, Ron just brushed his feelings off, growing up in a family where he was always behind his siblings, since he couldn't believe, that Hermione loving him could be possible. Ron saw her truly as a perfect person and he was not perfect (if you personally ask me, Hermione was not perfect too, she was control freak, bossy sometimes etc). I am just happy, that they came together in the end though. Hermione was so deeply in love and she always cried when Ron was away, and same for Ron, he was so desperate for her. I am sooo happy for them!
JK said herself that she always wanted them to come together, since she has private reasons.

I think Hermione started having feelings for him first. In the 1st after Ron mocked her and she cried in the bathroom, he saved her, proving his chivalery and braveness in dire situation (he used the wingadiom leviosa correctly to save her life even when he failed at that in class) and then he said: that's what friends are for; any girl would fall for that ^^. As for Ron nothing was up or shown untill she was petrified in COS. How worried he was and at the end when she hugged harry and almost hugged Ron but they ended up shaking hand awkwardly( I know thiz was not in the book but I'm glad they added it in the movie)

The Movies aren't the best, but they did something really right, Romione. In the Half blood Prince, when Hermione was saying what she could Smell in the Love Potion, she Said "Spearmint Toothpaste, Freshly Mowed Grass, and Parchment". It was in this moment, I feel Hermione was certain that Ron was the one.
Hermione had spent years, helping Ron and Harry with their Homework, the Parchment. Hermione had also spent a lot of time at the Burrow, and it's implied that Ron does a lot of work in the Yard area, as he's the one to De-gnome the Garden in early books, the Freshly mowed Grass. And finally, the Spearmint Toothpaste, which is tied to in something a lot of us could've missed. In the Half Blood Prince, While the Trio are in the Burrow, Ron quietly taps Hermione, saying that she "Has a little...Toothpaste", on her Cheek.
It was in this moment, that Hermione knew that it was Ron she loved. I feel like she had a feeling it was him, but she wouldn't ever act on it, if she wasn't sure. Like you've said in the video, there's no Practical way to show Love, and I think for the rest of the class, she was trying to find a way. She instantly stepped back, and seemed Dazed, and while making the Potion, she seemed oddly behind, which is extremely Uncharacteristic of her. I don't know if this was in the Books at all, as I've re-read the Books countless times over the years, and they've blended together a little over the years, not to mention the Ending of the Sixth book, overshadowed the Plot of the book For me. However, I know it's in the movies.
I do think Ron felt love first, however I think that it was waaay earlier than Hermione. It would've added another meaning to the moment, when Hermione said Ron, "Had the Emotional Range of a Teaspoon" XD.
Poor Ron, I Know this Sounds really Hufflepuff, but I really Want to give him a Hug and Tell him It'll be okay

It was Hermione first. I don't think anyone else calling her "a nightmare" would have sent her crying to the girls restroom. She liked him from the moment they met on the train. The fact that his first successful charms spell was the one to save her from the troll, well that solidified the deal. Rowling bows to Fandom too much. She never ment for Harry to wind up with Hermione. Remember, Hermione wasn't just frizzy haired, she was bucktoothed as well. She and Harry were bonded as brother and sister from the start, as that is what they were missing. They were the siblings they never had. Ron (then Ginny) was their link to a huge family full of love. The only was to get that was to marry into it. They would have felt like outsiders, no matter how much the Weasleys welcomed them, if they hadn't married into the Weasleys.

This doesn't really have to do with the love between Ron and Hermione but I just really want to point this out. In the first book Hermione says "I'm going to bed before eighter of you come up with another clever idea to get us killed or worse expelled" to which Ron says "She NEEDS to sort out her priorities" ok yes I know that out of those two options being expelled still seems better than being killed but let's think about it from Hermione's perspective. When you're expelled from Hogwarts they snap your wand and you can't just go get another one from Olivandor. You can basically Never do magic again. Hermione is muggle born. If she is expelled she loosees a part of herself. She would rather be killed then have to live the rest of her life like that. Which is why she reacted in such an emotional manner when Ron started dating Lavender in HBP. Ron probably realized he had feelings for Hermione during GoF, but didn’t realize that he loved her until towards the end of HBP. He probably liked her even before GoF in that way but he didn’t really realize it until the Yule Ball in GoF.

Hermione definitely fell in love first. I believe she also developed a crush first. The way she reacted to any and all things Ron said versus Harry from book 1 until the end is also a dead give away of her feelings. She cared what he thought of her from the beginning which is why she responded badly to him calling her a know-it-all on Halloween in book 1 and spent her time crying un the bathroom. When Draco, Harry, and a few others pointed this out to her over the years she had almost little to no reactions. I believe book 2 is where Ron realizes he had a crush on Mione because he shies away from her touch. In book 3, they both realize they're in love but have no clue that the other feels the same. They fought that entire book like an old married couple. The movies truly did not do them as a couple justice nor Ron's character.

LOL Hermione has more complimentary traits with Harry than she does with Ron. Hermione is logical and thinks through her decisions while Harry is ruled by his emotions and follows his instincts. She's enthusiastic/cheerful he is more introverted and bitter. She motivates him to do better, and he reminds her that there are more important things than books and cleverness. How do Romione balance each other out? Ron's humour gets on Hermione's nerves and her cleverness does the same to him. Their differences don't lift them up, they tear each other down because of those differences.

My interpretation is that Hermione had feelings for Ron long before he had any romantic feelings for her, or for anyone else for that matter, and that by the time he did start having feelings for her she had almost completely given up on him and was in the process of actively trying to will herself to move on, thinking that he would never love her back anyway.
I feel pretty certain that Hermione's feelings for Ron went all the way back to the very first book, I don't know if it was love at first sight on the train but I think their first encounter did not produce equal feelings of resentment in both of them. I think it's pretty obvious from Ron's reactions that he was clearly annoyed by her from the get go, but I don't think we can say the same for Hermione. She never seemed to try and stay out of Ron's way or avoid him, in fact, she would often inject herself in conversations that had nothing to do with her so long as Ron was involved in them.
She was an annoying know it all to everyone but all throughout the beginning chapters she seemed to be specially interested in needling him with snide comments and I don't think that's a coincidence in the slightest, she was trying to get his attention and being annoying was the only way she knew how to do that. And remember later on when she was pretty much following Harry and Ron in the first book to make sure they didn't break any rules? I think that had far less to do with them losing Gryffindor house points and far more to to with her trying to get Ron's attention, by the only way she knew how, bother him. I think the rules, house points and Harry were all rather irrelevant to her at that time, and that it was all about trying to make Ron pay attention to her. If it had been Harry and Neville going around losing house points and Ron had nothing to do with it I doubt she would've interfered so much in their activities.
Also remember when she got extremely hurt overhearing Ron saying that no one likes her and that she's a nightmare? I'm not sure she would've reacted the same way if it was Harry or someone else saying these things, I think it was the fact that Ron said it, that her clumsy plan of getting him to like her and prove herself worthy of being payed attentio to had failed so miserably that he now seemed to hate her. I think that's what devastated her so much.

Would you expect her to get up and leave?" she was using her and him as an example because she was secretly hoping that Ron would realise that she was developing romantic feelings for him and maybe return those feelings. She just didn't know what the best way to confess her feelings to him was. So I do feel that Hermione fell in love first, although Ron developed feelings first.

Hermione fell in love first. In the Goblet of Fire she wanted Ron to ask her to the ball but he didn't and that's why she was so angry at him when they had that fight.

I would say that Hermione fell in love with Ron first because in the Prisoner of Azkaban, Hermione kept turning to Ron for comfort every time she was upset.

I truly believe that Hermione developed feelings and fell in love first. I believe this for when Ron was making fun of Hermione in the first movie for being a "no-it-all" that is when Hermione ran off crying because, most likely, she had true and deep feelings for Ron. Then Ron saved Hermione from the troll, plus, saving Hermione was Harry's idea.

there are many wanting harry and Hermione ending together but from the first book it was evident that they were "just friends" and both shared caring nature more of siblings like.....but it was truly ron and hermione the perfect one....from being uncomfortable in presence of each other to jealousy ...it was all evident.

I agree with you, i think ron started liking her first. However i think that the fact they became friends at such young age also affected why their self awareness of their love took a long time. Because its harder to go from friend too girlfriend if you are very close friends. They probobly thought about it many Times but rejected the idea.

Nah, the other way around, Ron was Hermione's first insight into the regular Wizarding world in the first book, but it was a childish crush that developed off and on very slowly, but Ron fell in love first, and fast.

I don’t understand how some people think that Ron was the first. Probably some people think that for such a “queen” as Hermione it’s too humiliating to be the first to fall in love with a guy like Ron.Hermione fell in love first . This is obvious. She annoyed him in the 1st movie. He didn’t even perceive her as a girl when he asked her to the Yule ball (she already had feelings then that was why she was so angry with him) Yes, he was jealous , but he had no idea why. He didn’t even understand why she was flustered and cried that he hadn’t asked her to the Yule ball before. Well, he was absolutely fine dating Lavender and didn’t care about Hermione at all.
