- Todays review is on the 2001 Porsche 911 996 Carrera 4 Convertible. I don't understand the hate for it after driving this 2001 Porsche 911. Even this none S model Carrera 4 911 is a little rocket ship with the 6 speed manual transmission. This was also the first Porsche that I have driven so it was an absolute pleasure and I have to thank Cary Imports for the Opportunity, info below:

Reviewed the most hated Porsche. Tried to keep it strictly on the car and the driving experience, you know all about the ims and the headlight critics. Really enjoyed this car I now understand the hype for these and why they hold so much value. Exhaust Sports Auto My ultimate Porsche is actually a 944, one day I’ll have one.
Matt's Garage yes you definitely will! I would love to see that on your channel one day 👍
I love the headlights and fact they came from 1996 911 GT1 design. It’s funny, No one complains about them on that model. They are beautiful and more aerodynamic. To each their own I guess.
The door pockets under the armrests provide a lot of storage space. They're quite large. The center console also has storage. In 2002, I believe, possibly 2003 they added a glovebox. Also, the frunk is smaller in the c4 than the c2. The awd system takes up a bit of the space, thus removing the spare tire that stands up in the C2 and Boxster frunks. In the C4, there is a spare that is flat under a cover in the frunk, which comes with an air pump to inflate the spare. It was done this way to save as much space as possible.
Absolutely beautiful! I’m jealous you got to drive that! Very nice that it comes with the hardtop, I’d just leave that on all the time if it was mine. I love how you actually “drive” the cars you review, I hate reviews were people drive around @ 15mph talking about the “handling”... not you, you push it thru a corner at speed and actually give us real time feedback, not some edited voice over! Anyways you already know I’m a fan but just wanted to make sure you knew why.(-:
I’m always going to be humbled that I have incredible viewers like yourself thanks so much Matt. I think you have some unique videos and a niche as well that will grow with time. Keep up the great work sir!
Exhaust Sports Auto Thanks!(-:
Great video amigo!!!
Thank you so much
You’ve got a perfectly working daily driver from the 90s.. how many other brands do you see on the road from the 90s without restoration? That’s the reliability of Porsche.. yeah it’s still a car.. you’re still gonna need to repair things.. but that engine can go for a long time.. notice how he loves it more and more the more he drives.. he starts with knocking it only because he’s not used to it.. and then it seems to click
The turn signal should turn off by itself. I had the same issue on my 986 Boxster. When I first bought it, the turn signal would turn off automatically, but after years of use it stopped working. It can be fixed, but a lot of people just live with it.
Thanks for the video as I’m looking for a new Porsche and a 996 is one that I’m looking into.
Thanks so much for sharing that my friend had no idea haha. Funny enough I'm about to post a 2013 Boxster S 981 review tomorrow morning great cars for sure!
Pronouncing Porsche correctly would be nice. Respect. You have more room than a Miata
Comparing Porsche to Lexus. “People love them, almost like a Lexus....”. Please, it’s like comparing a piece of sculpture to a reliable refrigerator.
Yea I mean porsche is ok bit over hyped but om
I have one, love it, soon fun!!
Looks like you were getting a bit hot under the collar on this one mate LOL :P
Omg it was over 100 degrees that day was literally dying definitely the worst summer day we had haha. But I understand Australia gets pretty crazy too so I can’t complain 😂
@@MeynMotorGroup Haha yeah mate last summer here was a BASTARD we had 38C days with 90% humidity for weeks on end I thought I was going to die so I can totally sympathize with you :)
Oh man that’s rough yea most days here have been in the 90s for sure and you know how it is in the states, dumbass parents leaving kids inside their cars all over the news 🤦♂️
2001 911- 55,000 miles for $35k. Thoughts? Too much for that old a car? In great shape.
It looks like they’ve come down in price a tiny bit
Love my Porsche C4👍👍
It's the headlights design, most (me too) like them round ones better. I think 991.2 looks best this far, 992 has bit odd shapes and too much black plastic here and there.
911s have issues, every car does. One of the weirdest flaws was that 991.1 had this thing that if the battery charge went down (cold weather w/e) you couldnt open the compartment to replace/charge it, special equipment (2nd battery) was needed to access electric circuit again. In 991.2 they fixed that though.
There’s a few for sale here in LA for around $15k, I’m just concerned with IMS and general maintenance cost as a weekend driver. Comments?
Thank you, Porsche, for releasing an ugly duckling that I was able to drive in high school.
lol
For most of my life I’ve always hated the looks of all porches 😂. I feel like they’ve finally started to make porches look good in their newest iterations. But I believe the car is a great driving machine based on the hardcore following and super good reliability scores it usually gets.
Yea purists love these things I see why now
Learn to spell correctly it’s all about respect
Also the key is on the left because of Le Mans.... aka it’s faster take off from the start line that way
Yes that's the story behind it
Or the right in RHD versions.
I’m not knowledgeable about Porsches. I’m sort of a sedan guy, which is why I love your Lexus videos. But it seems like you’re really enjoying driving it, and have very few complaints for a car so old. I do wonder about the presumed stop-and-go driving history that would give a car such low mileage for its age.
I checked out the Cary Imports web site and found a car to drool over-a fire-engine red E-class coupe. Woof! And again I say, woof! I can’t buy anything right now, but it’s good to have a dream.
Yes they have had that for a while now haha but I put up the S class up first I don’t know if I will review that E class even tho it is nice and it comes with a V8. I’m
Considering doing a VS video with the Audi S4 and BMW 335i
Exhaust Sports Auto I don’t care if you do a video on it! I want it for myself but I can’t buy a car right now!
David Browning yea I understand haha
These cars tend to be play toys rather than daily drivers so don't get used as much. They don't carry much or many people. I looked at a Cayman which I love but realized I couldn't even carry a set of golf clubs. I couldn't justify a car I would use a few times on the weekend to run errands. Other people have more $ and more garage space so it's not an issue. I would not be concerned about the low mileage but if it was a Camry or a Civic that's a different story.
@@beyondrepair8949 They're not big cars for sure but I'm surprised it can't fit Golf clubs, thought Porsche would be smarter than that. Even Corvette always makes sure to fit at least 2 sets of golf clubs
Poor shar
Why are you doing a review on a Porsche if this is the first and only porsche you've ever driven?
That’s the dumbest sh!t I’ve ever heard
There’s something wrong with his gearbox
It's like 2 decades old I mean it's not going to feel perfect
Wtf is this guy's fascination about Lexus?
Fact
Don’t talk down on yourself
Porsche 9/11
