Liverpool fan @jamesredmondtv also weighed in against Paul Scholes too. But Flex of @UnitedStand strongly disagrees and bounces back with Eden Hazard, claiming the Belgian should have scored more for Chelsea.
Flex also mentions Chelsea legend Didier Drogba in the conversation, and claims the stats show he wasn't as good as people make out.
Spurs fan @ExpressionsOozing goads Arsenal fans and quotes Roy Keane in saying Jack Wilshere is the most overrated players in the league.

Gerrard the most well rounded and Lampard the most threatening. It comes down to preference in the end lets be honest. But arguments for Scholes typically revolve around sensationalism or the achievements of his team, not the facts or figures.

Lampard however had a minutes per goal ratio of 276 but without penalties, it's the same as scholes at 337 minutes per goal. I think scholes is extremely underrated if anything and not overrated.

@Hassy Kay I'm in 30's but hey-ho. What I'm saying is that Gerrards versatility goes against him. Gerrard was never as talented as the best midfielders in the world in terms of pure ability/talent. He was never on the same level as Pirlo, Xavi, Iniesta, Scholes and Zidane... ect. Those players are elite specialist midfielders that were no were near as rounded as Gerrard but are players that anyone with football IQ would take over Gerrard.
Imo Xabi Alonso was the player that made that Liverpool team tick, Alonso had a far far far far greater passing range than Gerrard, he could hold the ball up better than Gerrard and was far more tactically disciplined than Gerrard ever was.
Gerrard wasn't as good as Frank going forward(despite Gerrard being better overall) and he wasn't as good as Scholes in terms of changing and maintaining a games tempo and he couldn't read play as well as Carrick could, despite Gerrard being a better player than Carrick. Gerrard should have been dropped out of our golden generation 11 imo for balance. That is just my theory.

Scholes is like Toni Kronos both of them were one of the best midfielders in the world at one time, Drogba was never seen as that.
Tbh I don’t think Scholes was ever seen as up there with the likes of Pirlo or Xavi and Iniesta, it was only towards the latter stage of his career that he started getting the recognition.

Gerrard was slightly different absolute class player and had a similar influence on his team as Roy Keane did but he shone because he was playing with shitter players. Alonso was the classiest cm Liverpool had and the closest on terms of style to Scholes. It's fun

If he played for Liverpool or United people would agree with this. Only really performs in 2 or 3 game periods then goes missing for weeks. Also rarely will you see him have a full 90 minutes of high quality, always fades in and out of the game and very easily goes missing. On his day a very good player but the audacity of some people to try and label him as world class has to make him overrated.

All depends on what you look for in a midfielder. Lampard was the best at late runs into the box. Gerrard produced brilliant moments, but he also had his slip-ups. One could also say that Gerrard and Lampard were built for the PL. They are both around 6 feet or above, powerful, and could boss people. Scholes used the space around him like nobody else. One drop of a shoulder and he would escape 2-3 defenders, open up his body, and ping wonder passes all over the pitch. He still had 150 goals for United, so it isn't like he was that far off in that regard. Scholes also played in sides that had 4 class strikers rotating who would eat up most of the goals. Beckham and Giggs providing the assists, then Ronaldo taking more goals away from others. Scholes was the foundation for 2 generations of Man Utd dynasties. Scored big goals in FA Cup finals and Champions League semi-finals. It's like the game against Roma. People won't give Pogba as many plaudits as Cavani or Bruno, but he was often the pass that led to the assists that led to the goal. Scholes was that a lot of his career. The one who had the picture in his head and initiated the sequence for a goal.

Scholes is the most underrated player, in England. Everyone outside of this country knows and recognises his greatness. It's because he isn't a 'roy of the rovers' type midfielder like Gerard or stat merchant like Lampard that he doesn't get enough credit in this country. Scholes is the most technically gifted midfielder of that generation and it's not even close, every bit as good as a Xavi.
