    There are winter clothes and there are WINTER clothes, modern gear is fantastic but will probably
    burst into flames if you get near a fire, If I lived where you lived I to would
    adopt the tried and tested reliable clothing, Looking forward to see how it
    performs but I think we already know the answer. Wade do they do one in olive drab? LOL Im far to messy to have a white one 🤣👍🍻

    Great video Wade! Funny just the other day I got sucked into a facebook conversation about how 'cotton kills'. That is a great piece of kit very appropriate for the winter! My normal wool jacked with a canvas outer layer has seen its last days I may be placing some orders. ATB!

    Hello Wade. After many videos on the BMA, yours was the last one. The Anorak then the canvas. I talked with Andy 3 or 4 times on sizing issues. Then decieded to bite the bullet. Loaden green anorak and the no frills white canvas. Ouch. I think a tear came to my eye pushing the order button. But ordered both and saved one shipping cost. In less than 2 weeks had them both. I love that loaden green colour. Ive been using it around in the bush and campfire. But i find it a great piece of clothing to wear using my hammock. Love winter camping. To old to sleep on the ground. The only downfall to wool is the wind. And ive only worn it once but the canvas anorak sure ups the warmth. I plan on it being a big part of ice fishing. Anyway Really enjoying your vids. I like your neck of the woods. I used to hunt and spend time around there and further up Mattawa way. Been many years ago. Livin life large in the Cariboo BC now. Both of those items are my favorites these days running the 1000's of miles of logging roads and old trails. Live life large my friend, its shorter than you think.😉

    Looks like Wade is using a Frost River backpack, and of course his anorak is incredible. I am a wool man from way back over synsetics. In credible anorak, and the additional shell makes it an incredible system. Both can also be worn by themselves depending on the weather. Great system and very practicle. These wearable pieces of historical art last forever and really provide protection from the elements and open fire. The commercial Canada Goose and other brands are good but can be bulky and restrictive. They are less than half the price as well. Consider ordering a handmade sash as well. Makes the anorak look even better and reduces wind from gusting up underneath. Now you look like a voyageur.

    Good review!...I have looked at these a number of times with the thought of buying the Rough and Manic, although they are reasonably priced and extremely well made. I cannot justify in buying them as I have three canvas anoraks (all milsurp), one WW2 US issue, a Swedish Winter Anorak and a Bulgarian Anorak (which I waxed). The liner for the US Anorak is 'wool fleece' with fur trim (but it is little tight. I tend to wear a Helly Hansen Dutch Milsurp (this has a high collar and dropped back that covers the butt very well! I also have a waxed cotton loose fitting, zip fronted anorak (Lewis Creek) the cotton is tightly woven, but very light.
    This winter is ridiculously, 'disturbingly' mild (to date) with very low snowfall (probably record breaking), consequently I have not broken out my real winter gear so far.
    I just want to emphasize, based on my experience of spending years in foul weather, it is very important to go for a long jacket / anorak that is loose fitting (so it does not inhibit movement), the length is essential to ensure you core remains warm (many modern, fashionable outdoor jackets are worn too short and too tight).
    Thanks again Wade!

      Oh I will. Due to the big temperature swings we get out west and in the mountains, I will probably wax the head and shoulders (at least) to offer some additional water repellency. That should also attract a bit of dirt/character.

    Great review Wade. I really like your system and it’s on my list now. I have a problem finding good bushcraft trousers. Being 6’2 wearing 28x36 it’s really difficult to find good trousers other than just jeans. Any suggestions you might recommend? Like to find a mid weight with reinforced knees and crotch style.

    Great looking anorak, thanks for sharing. I do wonder how well that velcro works over time. A button or two at neck and sleaves, just as a backup, for when the velcro gets 'iced' would be my customization request.
    But then as you say in another comment, the anorak is meant for very low temperatures .. my experience is in the -5 to +5 region (celsius), when skiing or hiking.

    • @Woodswalker1965

    What temperature ranges are you able to hang outside in with just those layers? I believe you are were wearing the Wool Anorak and the Manic Cotton Anorak. I have mostly modern clothing and would like to know your experiences with this particular style. Hint: I may switch... Already on the wool train, but use Gore-Tex for skiing and Winter Mountaineering.

    • @Woodswalker1965
      @Woodswalker1965  Před 5 lety +2

      Thanks brother! No its untreated against wet snow or rain. This isnt something to be worn in wet weather. It's a cold weather shell for well into the negatives when the air is dry. Dry snow is fine. That being said it will dry quickly around the fire should it get wet. Thanks for your support! 👊😀
