Great content! Iâve been searching hard for my first bronco and watching your videos for 3 years and just picked up a 77 last week! Already got it running. Test drive tomorrow!
Yes!!!! Way to go!!!
I still have drums on the back. Been thinking about upgrading. Thanks for the great video.
Looks great, you'll get it sorted out.
I think so too
I've had the disc conversion on for years - recently had to replace my rear leaf springs and found that grinding off the bracket nearest the shock that holds the leaves in their vertical orientation (sorry - I don't know what those are called) gave me enough clearance to continue using the "relocation bolt" shock attachment, but it's definitely closer to the spring than I'd like it to be. I figured that rear spring bracket was redundant, since the leafs are pinned in the center and there's already a matching bracket holding the stack vertical in the front, so they can't really rotate anyway. It really seems like the best location for the shock would be half way between the center of the stock mount and the "relocation bolt" position. I'd like to see them offer a custom adapter in the kit that attaches to the stock shock bracket and mounts the shock halfway between the stock and "relocation bolt" positions (the shock would mount just outside the stock bracket and would just need to include a curved extension to lay against the axle housing to prevent the adapter from rotating). Mounting the shock 1-1.5 inches further to the rear would change the suspension geometry ever-so-slightly, but I doubt it would be enough to be significant. Another option would be to have the adapter mount the shock just above the stock mount, then the geometry would be the same and you could just order your shocks with a slightly shorter length. Might be an interesting experiment to fabricate that and see how it works? :-)
Those are all great ideas!
My last shop video I said time and again that I now have extra parts because I planned on going one way, ordered parts, and either they didn't fit, or I did something else. So, first Bronco event I will have a garage sale.
Haha! I totally get that
Nice vide very informative
I would suggest red loctite on those restraining and bracket bolts.
Good idea
I thought about doing the rear disc brakes on my bronco I just wanna get my bronco back up and running so Iâm staying with the drum brakes for now
Yeah I have drums on my 75
Flip the shock, then mount it on the outside of the bracket.
Oh really!? Iâll try that
@@NashvilleEarlyBronco I have the same kit and it works perfectly that way.
Thanks!
I would consider using rear drum brakes. They work great once you have them adjusted:)
Haha! Yeah I have drums on my 75
Did you decide on an engine then?
Nope! Haha!
This is the problem w/ these brake kits that are thrown together from GM shelf parts, they are not really designed for the application. On these kits the front requires grinding of your spindles for proper fitment and the rear requires shock mount relocation or the unsafe long bolt mod. This is why I went w/ the wildwood kits (especially rear) as they are designed to fit specifically the bronco 9" without need for modification or creating any compounding issues. My advice would be to return the kit and get the wildwood rear kit for a few more bucks and save a ton of time and money on skipping the mount relocation and redo on the powder coating. Plus... u will have less GM parts on your ford đ- best of luck
Interesting! Iâll look into that
I never liked the rear kit. Looks cool but didnât care for the design.
Weâll see how it does once the build is done. It feels over kill
