- In this video I install the Tom's Bronco Front Disc Brake Conversion. I also show installing new universal joints in the front axles. Overall the kit installed very easy and looks like it will perform much better than the drum brakes. Thanks for watching. Don't forget if you need anything or have questions please email us anytime at jasonandjoniebuilds@gmail.com.

I have to do this on my 66
now I need a shop
They worked and stopped well.
I don't know if my Warn hubs are thicker than the ones you are using, but I have driven that seal in as far as I can, and the groove for the retaining clip on the axle isn't exposed when I do this. Maybe that is why they suggest that? Now off to watch your other videos to see what you did for brake hoses and lines (I, too, have a 66, so going from single reservoir to dual, with proportioning valve separating L from R meaning two hoses to front axle, rather than one).
Great info, Jason! Thanks so much for taking the time to make these videos. They are really helpful, and I appreciate your making them very much.
Thanks Ronald! I hope they help.
ok check use the keeper c clip
Ha...well I did. I still don't understand why they said not to.
these 23 minutes in here are gonna save me 23 hours - thx so much jason and joanie. i'm gonna go back to my budget and try to find the money for the disk brake conversion.
Glad to help Joe! We appreciate ya watching.
Very good video and details. This will help me out with my build.
Thanks Rudy! Good luck on your build.
Such an informative series. I forgot how awesome the camera work was on these vids. So, how did the Bronco drive with the brake conversion and did you hang onto it or sell it?
Thanks Brian! The Bronco drove and stopped great. We did sell the Bronco. The fun part for me is building. Once it is finished it is time for something new.
@@JasonJonieBuilds Good to know and I figured as much. So, what are you building now?
I am working on a long list of honey do's that I fell behind on while building the Bronco.
Always a great job!!
Thanks Keith!
Nice Vid!!! Be safe up there in case the storm swings your way.
Thank you sir. So far so good on the storm but its turning back toward us I think.
Im doing this to a freinds truck and i saw another video and the guy failed to put that axle retainer i agree it is needed thanks for the info
We appreciate you watching!
Great overview! My Tom's kit just came this week. Thanks for your videos!
Rob we appreciate you watching. Good luck with your kit! Tell your friends about our channel and help us grow.
If you had a choice which front drive train would you use. Dan's 44 ??
The 44 is more robust. I used my 30 since I had it and did not plan to do any rock crawling. Given the choice I would go 44
Hi Jason and Jonie build im working on 76 bronco with a dana 30 my question is if you have the part number of the front rotors thanks for some reason I get the wrong ones.
I will check and get back to you. Are you sure you have a Dana 30 and not a Dana 44?
Great Video! Thanks!
Thanks Drew. We are thinking of yall and hope you don't get too much of the storm.
@@JasonJonieBuilds Yeah. This sucker looks like it's gonna come right up Mobile Bay. Not too worried about the wind, but the flooding is gonna be an issue. Appreciate it....
Perfect timing! I'm about to do this myself. Same kit, same axle. Great video as always.
Thanks Clint! Let me know how your install goes. I appreciate you watching...
Hey I just want to thank you for your fantastic videos guys. I was wondering if you have a recommendation for order of restoration. I'm about a quarter into my restoration and wondering about when to prime paint body, how to store the body while completing the chassis in a way that does not bend it and ruin the bodywork I've done. I have built a frame temporary but moving the body onto the chassis means I have to take that frame off. So I'm just wondering about when should we tackle what?
Randy thanks for watching! Your concern regarding the bodywork and moving it around is valid. I was concerned myself. I did the major panel replacement on the frame because that way I knew the mounts were at the correct elevation. After the steel work was close I removed the body and started the chassis. Basically to break up the build. Chassis parts go on quick and it helped keep me motivated. Bodywork just takes so much time it wears on ya. I hope this helps good luck.
Did this about a month ago....I did the king pins at the same time. World of difference when the brakes are wet compared to the drums. Just FYI James Duff is having a hub and spindle buy back if they are in good shape for the drum set up. I sent mine in and should be getting a in store credit to be used for my new exhaust....Recycling at its finest :) Great video.
Thanks David for the info. I will look into that. Always need ways to help pay for this thing.
Where can I get the info to get money for the front drum brake stuff? Thanks

I am not sure. I never checked on it. Honestly I forgot about it. You could call Duffs and see what they say about buy back parts.
@@davidbrady9686 Thanks for this David. I am going to check on mine this week. I put them in a box so maybe they are good enough for store credit.
Great video, where you had the caps still sticking out, you can take a hammer and hit the ear of the axle, because the ears get forced in, that has always worked for me . I installed the Toms kit on my 44 and did not put the axle keeper on, like they said and 15 plus years no problems, but the difference is the dana 44 does not have the outer seal on the axle tube like your dana 30.
Thanks Taz! I will be curious to see the difference in the 30 and 44 installation. I have only installed this kit on a Dana 30. We appreciate you watching!
Great video! I am currently on this part in my Dana 44 and it doesn’t make sense to me not to put the clip back on. I know they say not to, but I like an explanation why. I guess thats how my brain works. 😀
@@calebg7479 Thank you! I have not done the install on a Dana 44 so I can't tell you which is right or wrong. Tom's could be clearer for sure.
@@calebg7479 Here is a video from Toms Bronco at the end they tell you not to use the clip on the axle. czcams.com/video/3G0NhPMwhRw/video.html
I just did this on a 74 bronco at my shop. The TBP instructions were pretty vague. The Dana 40 you do not use the the clip on the half shafts. The older style you use the clips... now the brake hoses that came with the caliper kit seems too long. It’s definitely longer then you brake hose. Good video 👍
Thanks Jason. We appreciate ya watching.
Nice Job!! What brake pads are used on this kit? Are they readily available?
Thanks! I am not sure exactly what or where the replacement pads will come from. I will check that out and get back to you.
@@JasonJonieBuilds Thanks
Great vid, Jason and Jonie! I noticed no grease zerks on the u-joints? Also, what kind of grease do you put on the axle splines?
Thanks Brian! You are right the Tom's U joints I bought did not have grease zerks. I would have preferred zerks but the came without and cannot be serviced. I used wheel bearing grease on the splines and shaft seal areas.
Nice except for the gm calipers
Thanks! I hear ya...
