      @@101BadBreathyou are correct. A 180 will rev out better, whereas a 270 will have that punchier mid range and linear power curve. 360 degree twins have very punchy low end and a pretty flat power curve. Funny how the different engine configurations perform!

      @@sleeper.simulant7327 I always wanna know what is difference between the different engine configuration and now I do thanks to your comment.. you mention 270 have linear power curve while 360 have flat power curve, what is the difference between the two?

    • @sleeper.simulant7327
      @sleeper.simulant7327 Před rokem +5

      @@user-cm1mp9se1k take a chart for example. Linear growth is a steady line that’s continuously rising at an angle, let’s just say a 45° angle as an example. The 360° crank twins do not like to rev high since the cylinders rotate at the same angle, that’s a lot of weight internally moving in a singular direction, would make for a lot of vibration. Also the simple construction of the bearings on a 360° engine weigh a little bit more, which hurts power as there is more rotational mass. 360° cranks were originally designed because they were inexpensive to manufacture and offered more performance then single cylinders at the time. The cams are also phased differently with that firing order to where they make better torque but have a power curve they plateaus early. On the other hand, 180° and 270° cranks are more willing to rev. 180° flat plane cranks like to rev higher as the cylinders are firing equally, helping move the next cylinder into place faster and faster as you rev them higher and higher. 270° cranks strike a nice balance. 270° engines are also very smooth running, especially compared to a 360° and they make loads of mid range power like a 90° v twin as they share the same firing order. Very balanced engine with a lot of character…

      @@sleeper.simulant7327 you explained linear but forgot explaining flat power band. maybe you did but didnt do so adequately. you just repeated that they dont rev as high. got it. so they plateau early? i guess its a feel thing. hard to explain maybe. i understand what the words mean, but its just not truly in context. all good.

  • @richardchileshe9910
    @richardchileshe9910 Před 9 měsíci +29

    Hi. I have been riding for nearly 2 decades and use this to daily comute. I just bought the CF Moto 450 because of its drop dead gorgeous looks and its ultra smooth engine and gearbox. As a 50 year old, I thought that the more aggressive riding stance (especially coming from a upright naked Duke) might be too much for me, but I have not had any issues with any back or wrist pains (even on long days out in the country). I use to own a triumph thruxton nearly 10 years ago, and I had really bad back and wrist pains after 1 hour of riding it. The fact that I don't get pains on this bike is a big plus.
    I will start with the bad points I've experienced so far. This one is not a huge problem, but one to note. The sat navigation has taken me to places that I've not entered once or twice when I've gone out to the country side. It also couldn't find a popular town that a lot of people go to. So while I like that it has in built turn by turn nav, I wished they had installed Google maps instead of their own system, but since I don't use the navigation (except to try it out that day), it's not a problem for me.
    Second, and more of an issue for me... I think the fuel economy is high for a 450. I know it's still in the breaking in period, but at 4.6L per 100k's (what I'm getting so far), it's pretty bad, especially since I'm quite careful with it during run in. That's nearly what a Hornet 750 or a Duke 790 gets.
    Lastly, and this is a minor gripe, but I wish that the kick stand was around a cm longer. It feels like the bike wants to go over when you stop on anything but a flat surface.
    Another really bad thing about this bike is the preconceived ideas people have about the brand. While I would not recommend cfmoto's earlier bikes, their collaboration with KTM and its in-house designers have paid off and has been proven in all the great reviews this bike has been getting.
    Even so people will come up to you and ask what make and brand the bike is. Then you have to explain.. it's CF Moto. , oh... they'll say. Then you have to let them know t's a Chinese company. They really need to change the name of CF Moto to something else, something that rolls off the tongue easier.
    It's hard to justify and explain who they are and what the CF in CF moto means. I think that we are all use to other big brands being made from China, but saying that name Cf Moto, doesn't bring pride to the ownerships even if this is a top of the class bike.
    I mean, look at the other up coming Chinese brand Kove (pronounced Kove'), it sounds fancy and more a kin to a top quality/premium bike.
    Cf Moto should follow suit so that they can increase their brand loyalties. Even though I like this bike, I would not wear any of their merch.
    Am I worried about the fit finish and reliability? Not at all. CF Moto has been around for a long time in Australia. This bike is solid and put together very well. It has a 3 year factory warranty which is longer than nearly all the established makes. Also considering CF Moto makes the engines for the Ninja 400, it would not suprise me if this is the same engine bored out to 450cc with a 270° crank shaft instead of 180 and they've called it their own. May be this the exact engine that KTM and cfmoto were working on before KTM pulled out of building the Duke 490 range.
    Thats it for the bad stuff. What I love. The looks. The front a rear winglets are a first to market in class and give it an aggressive and unique look to a otherwise mundane cbr-r sport bike template.
    I also like that it has a nice big, bright tft with optional 2 display layouts and lots of features, some of which include rev shift alert, over speed alert so you don't speed too much over and loose your licence, the forementioned sat navigation, from phone to Bluetooth call with music controls from the switches, a bike tracker with geo fencing alert. You can also track your bike if your friend borrows it, or it gets stolen and moved anywhere in the world. This has a greater advantage for owners because when I told the insurance company that It has it, they lowered my insurance premiums, all of which is not on the Ninja 400... yeay!!!
    It does have a bigger bike feel and you do feel it when you throw your legs over it to start, but the bike does shrink around you when you move at normal paces, but when you push it, I do feel that the bike feels like it's bigger than what it actually is again, which is really wiered but not in a bad way. Not a sensation I've felt before.
    I love how sure footed this bike is at any speed. It always feels really planted, stable and grippy. Pulls from 3800 rpm comfortably. The slightly more tucked in hunkered down position is comfortable as long as your not over 5 10-11". A really big thumbs up. It's really manuvrable and easily threads through tight and heavy peak hour bumper to bumper traffic (even with those big long mirrors out which was a big suprise).
    And have I mentioned how smooth it is. The engine is silky smooth, It also sounds good from factory. I like the pops and burble sounds it makes when down shifting. Almost like a softer quieter C63 merc. Like the C63, I wish the muffler also had the quiet and loud pass through valve to really give it a bit more rumble on the road and a quiet mode so the neighbours don't get angry option at 5am start up.
    For people who say it's only a beginners bike, I would urge you to think twice. You can only go as fast as the speed limit these days, so anything over a 500 to 600cc is posturing. This bike has more than enough power to get you out of trouble, it does also allow you to have fun while being much safer. It has a much lower rego and insurance cost compared to a big bike and much, much, much cheaper to buy. While I think beginners will love it, it is a great real world conditions bike for everyone under 5.10".
    The price. For what you get, it's a hell of a deal.

Where can you get 50hp, 270 crank, brembo brakes, great suspension, good adjustable controls, tft color dash and looks amazing. I legit would only change 4 things, that being aftermarket exhaust, fender eliminator, dark or tinted windscreen and remove stock mirrors for clip on mirrors or delete them all together. I'm going to wait a bit to see how reliable it is, but if that 270° engine is as reliable as any Japanese bike then CFMoto is getting some money from me. It is pretty clear it's a strong shot at beginner bikes from Japan and even if they barely make money per unit sold, it's definitely a move to get riders to purchase their 450SS as a starter bike and hook em to stay with CFMoto as they progress to a larger CC bike of theirs. It's a great strategy if they deliver on quality good looking bikes.

    Here’s the thing, cfmoto have been producing motorcycle parts for other companies for ages. They are a massive company and get to save a LOT of money on manufacturing, so they don’t need to cheap out in the bikes themselves. They also sell worldwide, as far as I know the us is one of the last markets they reached, but they are everywhere. So they make money by selling a large volume of bikes, even if their bikes are not expensive.

      @@Erstwhile.Freeman They price it that low because they're able to manufacture their bikes at a higher volume than their competitors. The Big 4 outsources their manufacturing in China, India, etc but the volume of bikes they make still pales in comparison to China (CFMoto also has factories outside China).
      I can't blame people for not knowing this, but Japan has been technologically behind for a very long time, their companies can't afford to manufacture their products in Japan (due to socio-economic reasons like high labour cost and aging population).
      So the "I'll never buy Chinese" doesn't make sense in today's age. Even if you buy Japanese, you're technically buying a bike that was made in China, or atleast a huge portion of the bike is. You just end up paying more for Branding.

I can’t quite describe it. All I know is the bike is nimble on the move given it’s close to 200kg with max fuel and my weight. The throttle’s response is… I would say fine? I mean, it won’t be easy to wheelie and it’s not torquing too much power too sudden that you’d lose control. The best part is the exhaust as it sounds like MT-07. My brother put an akrapovic without a silencer and the sound is like a superbike. The minute he enter our neighborhood I know it’s him.

    It's a beautiful machine. It's not a game changer, but it is another option in the market. Turn signals on the mirrors?! Awesome. Upside-down front forks?! Why isn't everyone doing that? Aprilia like front end.... Yes.
    I'm 62 years old. I've downsized from the liter class a few years ago. Being older, I'm not into the Ninja 650 lean over. I like tucked legs though .
    I love my 650 Versys. CF Moto needs to address the different riding styles with their new engine in different frames like all the other companies do, while maintaining beautiful styling. Retiring in Thailand soon and not sure if this will be available, but it's not my cup of tea.
    In countries like Thailand that are scooter HEAVY, there's a reason... Light, quick, maneuverable... Period. I saw maybe two 650's in two weeks. Most people on actual motorcycles were riding 300cc max. Personally, for the city, that makes sense. I'm looking at the Royal Enfield Hunter 350. Upright, not really light, but lighter than a 650 for sure, and the gears are built for hole shots to get you out of trouble.
    The top four from Japan aren't going to do anything. CF Moto has been increasing their prices since their debut. It won't be long until their prices are in line with all the rest, so I'd stop praising then too much. Those bikes are WAY cheaper overseas. You want to know why? When i see the Kawasaki Ninja 400, 650, 1000 sticker price... THAT'S WHAT I PAY! NO DEALER CHARGE. NO SHIPPING BS CHARGE, NO EXTRA CHARGES - PERIOD! That equates to saving about $1,500USD on the same motorcycle. You wonder why I'm moving? American greed.

    I got the chance to take the 450SS for a demo ride recently and I agree about it feeling top heavy. The wheels swing out a lot when diving into a corner, likely due to a higher center of gravity. Other than that it's a great bike.
