Jack (Kurt Russell), Wang (Dennis Dun) and Egg Shan (Victor Wong) have an epic battle with Lo Pan (James Hong) and his minions.

Suddenly, a gang of Chinatown toughs kidnap the girl right before Russell's eyes. After a wild chase sequence, Russell discovers that the girl has been abducted by a genuine, bonafide sorceror (James Hong), the ghost of a 3000 year old warlord. And that's just for starters.

This movie scene literally has it all. Neon lights, random fighting with various weapons as well as super natural beings. Bring back the 80's
💨💨💨
Don't forget music !
This is the 80’s
you're describing the whole movie
Amen brother!!
I love Lo Pan wiggles his thumbs like a game console controller.
I always thought so since i was 4 when i saw this in theaters and thought of joysticks
PlayStation Vs xbox
When I flip people off I cross my middle fingers and wiggle my thumbs.
HoloStation
1:35 me too.
I swear james hong is the most underrated actor in the world. His performance as lopan is great. Give this man a oscar just for being in as many movies as he has been in.
James hong was a great actor but I saw him in Megan Ward's movie "Goodbye Paradise" he is the chef of the club.
I’ve been agreeing with this sentiment for quite some time. He’s the best!
Now this really pisses me off to no end! 😂
@@georgehenderson7783 That line always made me laugh when I was younger lol.
He now has a 🌟 on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
This is literally the best movie ever made.
lol
This is debatable. I appreciate your enthusiasm though.
Well it isn't really Star Wars.
@@zorro456 You're right, it's much better. Less filler.
This movie provides all the creativity and thrills some could hope for in a movie. It has all the vibes. Comedy, drama, action, romance, heroics, adventure...you name it.

There is a reason people like to say 80's action movies are the best. Because they had badass set pieces, likable characters and a crap ton of energy!

This movie is what I consider to be the closest thing to perfection.
Every minutes... every second of it is a perfection to watch.
Amen bro
Relax
Agreed
Yes.
This movie may have been given bad reviews when it first came out, but this is a great movie. It was a classic then and it still is.
This movie suffered because it opened against Aliens. The studio did not spend money promoting it. That's to DVD, cable & word of mouth ole Jack Burton lives on in legend..still, not saying he's done everything & been everywhere!😎
Bill Lozier Nothing was going to beat Aliens that year. Aliens was a masterpiece that was both a money maker and critically acclaimed
@@socallawrence so true. The rest of the sequels were garbage.
@@lenindominguez1986 Goonies and virtually every other classic movie got bad reviews. Movies that you have barely heard of since got the good reviews. This was before the internet got popular and real people started calling out the bullshit.
@@billlozier5551 two classics in a weekend, I wish I had been living in that time
This was the first Mortal Kombat movie. Im calling it
Well, where do you think Raiden came from?
I like how Jack keeps getting put out of the fight; rubble falls on his head, Thunder smashes his gun, gets pinned by the corpse. Hilarious.
Not to mention how earlier he threw his knife by accident and runs off to get it 😂
I love the gitty little 9 year old girl laugh from lopan.
I love his yell in his first scene where he blinds Jack
James Hong, you are a national treasure! :)
Lopan was wiggling his thumbs like joysticks when he played supernatural astral
JoeCnNd That was creepy. I never liked that bit.
Giddy*
When you think about it, this movie was Wang's story of getting the girl. Jack quite literally stumbles through the entire main quest, and it's the funniest fucking thing.
'First time you ever plugged somebody?'
Jack tries to keep it macho! '...course not!' (Yeah right!)
Love him!
LOL..
Riga, totally. Haaha, it's brilliant.
Jack is the fish out of water character, all the Chinese Americans, etc. know about lo pan, Chinese black magic, etc. therefore there's no reason to explain it to others like them, Gracie also knows a bit about it, so therefore jack is the outsider who then serves as a mechanism for the lore to be explained to the audience (us), while also being sort of like a mad max character, Jack is not the main hero of the story, but he is the one who ensures the hero has a happy ending.
Another funny thing still beats half these shit movies made today
"you never could beat me egg shen"!!
FUCKING CLASSIC LINE HERE!!
Peasant magic!
thats right egg shen...the best of two worlds!
Wang was badass, but Wang after drinking Egg Shen's potion... unbeatable!!!
Yeah. Drugs helped him bigtime.
@@iou0 Rain, Lightning and Thunder got their powers from Lo Pan’s sorcery I believe…so the drink just leveled the playing field 😂
@@TheLivingRoom_ Lightning had his power after lo-pan died didn't he(died by falling statue)? Thunder killed himself for being a failure.
This movie was way ahead of it´s time...love it so much.
2:07 The old man borrowed the fan from Kitana to bring Rayden down 😂😂😂
The best part is Lightning’s reaction. His look is like “What the hell just happened??”
Mortal Kombat got a lot of their ideas from the movie.
David Lo Pan is one of the most badass villains of all time. His first appearance, where he beckons Burton to run him over, is my favorite introduction of a villain in a movie. Things get weird with the funeral, then weirder with the Tong war, then downright supernatural with the introduction of the Three Storms, then FINALLY the revelation of the Big Bad, the main man himself, the immortal Lo Pan. For me David Lo Pan represents everything beyond normal human experience dealing with the occult, mysticism, etc beckoning us all down the rabbit hole where every unreal thing becomes possible.
Which Lo-Pan, the 120 year old basketcase on wheels or the 7 foot tall roadblock?
And tbh, he really wasn't that bad of a guy. Not like into today's movies. He was just trying to get laid. Hell after 2000 years, I'd be horney af too
@Durandal Callidus it's "the little old basket case on wheels or the 10 foot tall road block".
@@kadeshaderow They're one in the same, Jack!
He is the actual Mandarin in the MCU, at least in my head canon.
It’s the laughter at 0:16. I love this movie so much. ☺️
I could listen to that music score all day, Carpenter composed it too, so talented.
Which track is this?
This movie had every opportunity to be horrible and it REFUSED! The soundtrack, the story, the mixed aesthetic, the classic effects, EVERYTHING. It was all amazing!
More likely it is our childhood memories serving as a culture filter. It is also important to acknowledge that even though it wasn’t intentional there are many Asian, Chinese, stereotypes blatantly reinforced. This movie is considered among many Asian American people to be Asian exploitation (or whatever is the analogous term to blaxploitation).

Wang's little eyebrow wiggle is hilarious
1:27 Shang Tsung vs. Bo Rai Cho
this and the golden child ... period
Everyhting here is so over the top. I love it. It's bascailly Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Enter the Dragon, regular show, and power rangers mixed together. I love this so much.
When the younger generation asks me how awesome the 80’s were.... I show them this video !!!!!! xD
“A brave man likes the feel of nature on his face, Jack!”
“Yeah, and a wise man has enough sense to get out of the rain.”
“So what’s in the bottle, Egg? A magic potion?”
“Yeah.”
“Good, thought so. What do we do, drink it?”
“Yeah.”
“Good, thought so.”
I remember watching this as a kid, then years later as an adult is amazing how many scenes were still vivid in my mind, that shows how they were well made and creative
I love how Jack is always MIA during every fight 😂😂😂

'You never could beat me Eg Shen...'
I loved Shen in this movie, whilst he portrays himself as a very earthy, scruffy individual (he probably smells terrible too), scenes like this give the impression he's much, much more than he appears. I'm guessing he's actually some sort of low born ('Peasant magic!') monk/sorcerer who is in fact hundreds, maybe thousands of years old, dedicated to aiding humanity against supernatural evils like Lo Pan.
Nothing of this is ever directly mentioned in the movie, but it's a testament to Carpenters story telling ability how strongly he comes across that way, without ever having to directly address it - I also loved the part where Lo Pan says (after viewing them through his multi-eyed guardian) 'They are not alone, Eg Shen is with them...', followed by Thunder and Rain, two fucking DEMONS, giving each other a look of fear.
Awesome character :-)
Yeah what i liked about this was carpenter was able to set up Egg shen as a character you didn't need to really know the backstory of in great detail and could think it up on your own without it taking away from the character.
When they're in the sea of dead trees Egg tells jack that thousands of years ago, great earthquakes shook everything, killing many mortals while also unleashing many unnatural beings who sicne then have plagued mankind. You can then assume that Egg and those like him, are sworn to defend/fight against those unnatural beings.
tusheschannel g5vucoctog vjzbz
Wang was special too...
totally true mate
Agreed.
Whoever did the sound effects and music for this movie is a genius.
This movie has a black belt in badass’ery. I love this astral projection fight scene between Shen and Lopan, and how afterward Shen just dispenses with Lightning like he was an annoying child.
When those warriors showed up in the middle of the magic… can’t get any cooler than that!
My dad walked in when I was watching this movie during this scene, he literally stared at the screen wondering what the heck was going on
Because its his generations :D 80s have the best Blockbuster .
@andree france paquette not quite, there is still one branch open in America.
The way James Hong is just goofing around with his thumbs like he's playing a video game🤣🤣🤣
Button smashing.
Seeing that fight between Egg and Lo Pan, makes me realize Carpenter would have made a killer Green Lantern vs Star Sapphire movie.
When the MCU does X-Men, I want to see a psychic battle between Xavier and another Psychic like that.
When Lopan says, "You never could beat me, Egg Shen," it makes me wonder if Egg is like an ancient magician himself, or possibly a modern incarnation of a lineage that has fought Lopan for centuries. Similar to Kung Lao's background in MK.
Best.Movie.Ever!
the music in this movie, just makes it so emmersive and exciting all the way through, love their 80's style sound track on this
My favorite scene!!!!! Glad I’m a 80’s baby!!!!

Nah man. She was way hotter as Lassie in Porky's.
Never knew this movie had such a resemblance to Mortal Kombat ,very cool ....
The creators of Mortal Kombat say they were influenced by this film.
@@dan_hitchman007 the creators of Mortal Kombat were pretty much influenced by everything. I love MK, love the franchise and impressed it's gone on so long and I'm not bashing it for hating it, but just realized that MK was never really entirely original. Every character seems like a "type" or a replica of someone else. Johnny Cage = Frank Dux/Jean Claude from Bloodsport. Ferra/Torr = MadMax. Liu Kang = Bruce Lee, Martial Law, Fei Long. Jax = the black guy. A whole gang of ninja that originally were the same Sprite re-colored. MK was always kind of obvious with their choices.
every character is from mk is a rip off of something
I always wondered about Egg Shen's past. They made him out to be much older than he seemed. I'd have loved to see that.
Jimmy Bonez same here Like a sequel
Jimmy Bonez maybe he’s one of those Chinese immortals

The hilarity that is Kurt Russell' character, he gets knocked out by shooting the ceiling, once he's in battle, he only manages to take out one guy with his foot

John Carpenter is a great movie maker
Whenever I see Egg Shen and Lo Pan do that battle with their amulets, I always like to say Egg Shen is the Obi-Wan Kenobi to Lo Pan's Darth Vader because it puts me in mind of their lightsaber battle from A New Hope.
