  • We just got back from our beach vacation and I took along the Tamiya Rising Fighter kit to build and drive while I was down there. It was a breeze to build and blast to drive. Found it really needs oil shocks to perform well so there may be some upgrades in the future! Quick fun video to share my fun at the beach. Next year I’m gonna have to have more than one kit to go with me, or a bigger one at least!

I love that you are on vacation and you're still building an RC lol

I am a red head so me and the sun don't get along great! I prefer the indoors most of the day and stroll on the beach as the sun is coming up or going down usually!! That and building something keeps me from harassing my wife so she gets to enjoy the trip too! LOL!

Looks pretty good out there on the beach!! I’m thinking without upgrades shocks this is probably a flat surface runner so the beach is perfect!

Yes very much so! With the stock shocks it is as bouncy as it can be! The beach was a great spot to run it one and a great kit to build on vacation like that as it required just a couple small bottles of paint for the driver. The blue molded plastic is just fine so it is slap some sticker on it and go!

Haha I cracked up when you showed the “terrified driver” great video man!

Thanks for stopping by and checking it out! I think it is just tradition to ensure the driver looks like he is about to drive off a cliff at any moment when painting them! It just seem fitting for what they go through!!

Nice vid Addam! The RF looks running well on the beach. I was so inspired by this vid and just purchased a Rising Fighter. I’m going to build it during my beach vacation!

It honestly runs super well out on the smooth wet sand, you will love it!! Stick a Sport tuned in there and it will really kick up some rooster tails! It is a handful on rougher surfaces, the friction shocks make it very bouncy! It is a super great vacation build though as it can be done in a few hours and you are out running! I'd pre-paint the driver just to be able to leave all the painting stuff at home! Have fun with it!!!

I keep getting your Videos on my feed!! 😁 That's not a bad thing.... I often wish MY Videos would pop up on my friend's feeds. 😞
I was almost sure that the Rising Fighter would be awful, because it sits SO high!
But it's actually got a few advantages. The limited travel Front Pogos prevent that HORRIBLE Camber and Toe shift, that the Hopper series is notorious for!! The Rear "Suspension" actually looks like it DOES something.
And that Buggy seemed to LOVE the Sand!!! It'll be interesting to see how my Grandson's Grasshopper II handles, being a similar design. I am "borrowing" some Oil Dampers from an older Rig, which should help somewhat.
BTW, any luck on finding an 18 tooth Pinion Gear for his GHII??
Anyway, bringing a RC Kit on Vacation.... just makes it more fun! 😊👌

Yeah, it was a fun drive on the beach, it did really well out there. Get it out on the rough ground and it hops and bucks a ton! Some oil filled shocks should help it out a lot. I have a set for it that I plan on doing a before and after on the track. I have been holding off doing it until I start running the cars on it. So I am trying to get a game plan on what is coming up next! I have so many things going on I am kind of spinning out of control a tiny bit so I gotta real it in! I did get the pinion, please send me an email so I can get it sent to you. addamsplayground@gmail.com

It was a blast! it would get stuck on the very loose, dry sand but in the damp sand it was so much fun.

great video! What speeds can we reach in this buggy with plastic gears and plastic differential, without sweeping them or wearing them out in the first runs? with a 2s lipo and a 12 turns brushing? can we have fun with 21mph without sweeping the spreads?

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  Před 2 lety

It is pretty much a hopper rear end so the gears are fairly beefy. I know a lot of hoppers and similar gear boxes hold up reasonably well to higher than stock power. I think you'll have more problems with trying to handle it on higher power then the gears going out! It is bouncy just like the hoppers and Hornet are so fast is going to get real sketchy real fast!!!

Nice run! I just bought this buggy what esc did it come with?

    • @AddamsPlayground

Thanks! Mine came with the TBLE02 but if you just bought your it could have the TBLE04 or possibly the Hobbywing 1060 included as well. The 02 and 04 are basically the same except for the 04 includes a low voltage cutoff for lipos. The 1060 is a little better as you can run lower turn motors than the Tamiya ones and it also is lipo compatible. At this point it is a toss up of what you may get. Enjoy the build and have fun running it!!!!
