This is one of my fav videos ever. We need more Janet time. I need to know everything about how she plays the drumsssss. Her playing is actually mindblowing
downingsdancer AGREED. in all caps
Yes. Totally. Janet rocks.
I love this interview. When Janet started to play Sleater-Kinney songs, I had a huge smile on my face.
when she started playing "get up," i just wanted to come in o that guitar riff.... man!!! love sleater-kinney, so much.
I hope Janet writes a memoir one day
When she explains how she approaches drumming for other bands compared to Sleater-Kinney, it's pretty evident by the sound of their latest singles why she had to leave. I love this interview, and I am so sad she left, in my opinion, her greatest band. I completely understand why.
What do you mean on why she had to leave, what do you mean ??
Carrie and Corin told her that her ideas/style was no longer welcome to their "new" era of the band and she had to play by their wishes now, obviously Janet felt like it was her time to leave afterwards.. @@bilykralik885
Lived out west for a while, and saw S-K countless times, Quasi a few times, and Janet never failed to kick some ass. Such a wickedly talented drummer.
3:10 fred is like "weakness, what fucking weakness?"
So good! Fred asks all the right questions, and Janet is amazing as always.
When she started playing One Beat that was AWESOME!!!!
It’s the first S-K song I ever heard, and the one the got me hooked.
gave me the chills
Janet is one of the sickest drummers.
i learned how to play the drums from listening to sleater-kinney. Janet is my favorite drummer ever.
me too!!! :)
any tips? :)
oh my god this is my favourite interview in the world
What a find. Big Janet Weiss fan. And I love Fred's questions. It's so clear that he's a drummer, and it doesn't get too silly. Great interview.
Damn, this is nice! It's hard to find an interview about drums alone.
Fred is such a good interviewer!
So creative and precise. In my top 5 favorite drummers.
greatest interview with a drummer, ever
Thank you for the inspiration Janet and Fred.
i love her. she is so awesome!!!
Janet is my number one favorite drummer 💙🤘😎
Bad-ass drummer; compelling, funny interview. So much love for both of them!
Fred Armisen is a surprisingly good interviewer.
Yes definitely , as a smart, funny guy and drummer, he should interview more drummers
love her so much
I couldn't possibly love this any more!
That was super FUN....
One of my favorite drummers.
that was wonderful!
The One Beat drumline sounded sooooo NIN. Loved it.
Love! Janet rocks!
This woman has stopped aging. Seriously. Watch an early sleater-kinney video. Gotta be a vampire.
myth busted
Riot Grrrls age gracefully
There’s a picture of Sleater Kinney in somebody’s attic beginning to look really old.
I knew you were going to say get-up! :) That drum pattern has stuck with me since I first heard it. Janet has some brilliantly creative patterns!
Janet seems so awesome. Sad she left SK. :(
Quasi ❤️
How could Fred forget to mention Elliott Smith as a band Janet played in? :(((
fucking exactly!
wooo yeah
7:52 That generic drum sound is exactly what I don't like about a lot of EDM. EDM would sound so cool if it was actually performed by musicians. I know that sounds like a contradiction in terms, but I'd like to hear music which was created as EDM, but ultimately performed by human musicians. If you have suggestions about how to make that happen, shoot me an email. You really can tell Fred is a musician and music lover at heart. Great video. Thanks for posting.
hey, this is what i actually do. i can tell you more via email if you

I love it. Please make a guy version of your magazine. You have the best layout and design out of all the drum magazines. By the way, props to She Shreds magazine too.
Is that a Quasi song in the intro and at the end of the interview?
freemars yes, I was looking through the comments trying to think of the name of it...grr

Even though Janet Weiss was a great drummer for Sleater Kinney, I am kind of glad that she left because I feel her position in the band was overshadowed by Carrie and Corin.
fred armisam looks very "fit" in this program ;~) i think he is v cute. i maybe hard down "there", but none of you will know... :*) unless if u wanna give it a tight grasp. heh, heh...
First thing wrong..... Janet didn't even play.
