It's fun to watch Janet play her instrument, her drumming seems very smooth and snappy to me like a boxer who can throw a fast, yet smooth and snappy punch. I'm not a drummer, so I'm not exactly sure how else to describe it.
curious thing: the fun they seem to be having. though people like to get amazed by those "best ___ ever", it's quite important to remember what counts: the real joy in drumming! sometimes I get pissed off with those "best drummer ever" videos (or "best drummer with boobs ever" wich IS a sexist category) because people shine doing what they love, not trying to beat a record! relax, folks, have fun, we'll all die alone! I love Janet's work, she's an inspiration. Not familiar with Sara's work.
how do you say a bad thing about the biggest boobs contest thing I'm a pretty well endowed guy and it's taking me some time to get used to people idolizing my idle it's what people do but the drummers it's like a morning cup of coffee full of hype it just gets you going and the more Carnage there is the better it gets
Janet Weiss is a beast, yet Sara's drumming is somehow more creative, in a way. Her work on Demons Sing Love Songs and Off This Century from the last Unwound album show she has a special flow to her drumming. Im not too crazy about Janet's work on Sleater Kinney, but she's the more skilled drummer of the two, tbh.
Janet's good but she;s hogging the ball. Having seen each of them in bands a zillion times, I'd choose Sara in a game of pickup rock n' roll any day. She has a kind of effortless swing, and live, even though she's not particularly loud or fancy, she has a kind of Bonhamesque presence where you can't not pay attention to her right foot.
these 2 are more drumming in tandem than playing to show off their individual skills.the technique of neither of then stands out, both are very similar.
this is a perfect example of an off timing out of time rhythm both of them are getting tired about the same state so even though the timing changes it sounds the same but it's all over the place in a good way
This is something I love about Sara's drumwork, it's a constant and nervous negotiation. You can hear it all throughout the Unwound records, and it keeps them going. She isn't a rock drummer (or good enough to entirely be one). But in that limitation she creates lines of pure energy that stick with me more than any other drummer with pretty good chops, her line in Hexenzene particular.

Wonderful SARA!
8:40 to the end pure fucking raw power on Janet's part...She's been my hero since childhood for a reason...
Love this

Ha ha, I love Sara's percussion-work, but O M G, Janet is effin' awesome!

I still love this videooooo!
Sara is from Unwound and the Corin Tucker Band.
This is the fucking definition of COOL.

WHY WAS I NOT THERE?! FFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
❤
Let there be drums
Get it!
Or Arboretum. You pretty much said it all. Sara put Unwound over the top. She was at least as important as Justin to that band.

Not familiar with Sarah Lund; what band does she play with? Janet Weiss reminds me of Art Blakey; I adore her!
Primarily known for her work w Unwound, the sexiest post-hardcore band of all tiiiiime
the violence shown against these defencless drums was nothing short of a bloody disgrace..
listen to steve reich and and evelyn glennie (check out "Touch the Sound" on youtube for example).
so that's the stuff
4:00 - 4:20 yaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiissssss maaaannnneee
2:12 fuck yeah.
mommy
Too close to call. Are they looking for a guitarist? I'm available.
interesting. I think they went the whole video without doing any doubles.
As a drummer myself, solo drum music will never be anything more than ear/eye spectacle. You want to listen to this or a song?
Is this music?
Avoid pregnancy by playing the drums!
It's music for some, but the best work we have is by people like Joe Morello, Tony Williams. Caveman tom tom beats are for cavemen@!
You have your tastes, but just poor ones. Got any fire logs to replace my drumsticks? Works for the music you love.
Prefer Xenakis and Karlheinz Stockhausen. Thanks.
Take care or you may be beaten by these 'ladies'.. Lots of violence in this video. lol!
