CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Bandit (Burt Reynolds) makes a deal with Big Enos (Pat McCormick) and Little Enos (Paul Williams) to make a bootleg run with 400 cases of Coors.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
"Smokey," aka Sheriff Buford T. Justice (Jackie Gleason), is the prospective father-in-law of unwilling bride Carrie (Sally Field). The Bandit (Burt Reynolds), a maverick racecar driver, makes an 80,000-dollar bet that he can transport a shipment of Coors beer from Texarkana, TX, to Atlanta within 28 hours. It's important to note that in 1977, it was illegal to sell the Coors brand east of the Mississippi River without a permit; if we don't note that, then the plot won't make sense at times. Already in danger of arrest from redneck lawmen like Buford T. Justice, Bandit furthers his chances at a stiff jail term when he offers a ride to Carrie, who hopes to escape her unwanted wedding to Justice's boy. The rest of the film is one long chase; not quite as subtle as a Road Runner/Coyote cartoon, not quite as restrained as a Three Stooges comedy. Universally panned by critics upon its first release, Smokey and the Bandit reportedly pulled in just under $126 million and led to two sequels.

How great is that line "A legend and an out of work bum look a lot like daddy."
RIP Burt, this movie was a part of my childhood
same here... :-(
Such a sad day :(. Another legend is gone
A lovely sentiment
Agree..
SXI96 Don’t forget about Jackie Gleason, Jerry Reed and Pat McCormick. Those guys passed away too.
Man the laugh at 0:17 will stick with you forever! Love it!
Can't remember where I read it but it was his natural reaction when he first saw them. They did a costume change at the last minute and didn't tell burt reynolds about it.
Lmfao!!
Especially now.
Always loved that Laugh it was so funny and different never knew it was his natural reaction to seeing them RIP Bert we all miss you now enjoy it with Sammy, Jackie, Jerry and so many other classics.
Got it as a ringtone.
why do you want that beer so bad?? because he's thirsty dummy. I love the way little ennis says that.. priceless!! 😂😂😂
Chad Andrew me too ha ha
Watch your language Little Lady 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Liked Burt Reynolds for this Hilarious film
Little Ennis, looks like a little Alan Jackson
“Ennis”
Little Enos Burdette
"Speedier than that!"
RIP, Bandit!
go ahead boy
"Looks like a legend and an out of work bum look alot alike, daddy." Movie magic. RIP Burt!
Derek Knight so many great one liners in this movie.
I love that line. I want it in my headstone.
Greatest line in this scene full of great lines. It's not noted often but Paul Williams killed it as Little Enos.
'Bum' is kinda harsh, but did Burt really have money problems in later life?
@@WinslowLeach1974 That's because much of the dialog in this movie was improvised as they were filming the scenes. Hal Needham gave his actors free reign to suggest changes to the script and even ad lib as they were filming.
I like the line little Enos says while shuffling through the cash,"I'd like to kick his ass just once"hilarious
I don't think little Enos could lift his foot that high unless he was on a chair or stool
He wouldn't be able to kick that high if he wanted to
Buford says that in part III when Little Enos says that "You can't kick that high. Cricket crotch."
Honestly, I like little Enos out of the entire movie. And Fred.
The “horse” noise he makes shortly after that line kills me
"Because he's thirsty, Dummy!... LMAO
Genius! Stuff you don't get in movies today
The look on Burt’s face after lol
Lol
RIP Burt. Old legends never die. 😚
So so True Legends never DIE
Pmsl 🤣 When it's said, R I P Burt 😢❤️
...they just lose weight.
An old legend & a out of work bum look a lotta alike, Deddy.
The deadpan look Burt makes when he says, "Big Enos' word is GOLD" makes me laugh every time.
…alright, show him the cash.
As well as little Enos constantly sizing him up. Also priceless
I love how he instantly laughs as soon as he sees them, he doesn't even need a second to process it.
R.I.P. Burt Reynolds
Smokey and The Bandit will always be an American classic 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
God bless America!!!
Oh yes, definitely an all American 🇺🇲 movie. And very 70s! Moustaches, flares, enormous sunglasses and wild fun!
0:55 Burt says "watch your language little lady" LOL oh and 1 more thing, he asked for the money for the beer, but he never paid for the beer. LMAO
Mike B You're right. I've seen this movie at least a dozen times and I never noticed that. Lol!
That little tidbit, although a great catch, was completely irrelevant, since they didn't actually pay for the beer anyway. Also, when they drove the forklift into the boxes (beer), Snowman, concerned, said that "somebody oughtta pay for the mess that they'd made." And that's when Bo told him to leave a letter for the proprietors to send the bill to Big Enos Burdette.Of course, that never happened, since Cledus couldn't spell Burdette. So he threw the pen and pad on the ground, saying: "Hell, I got ta go!" LOL!!! :-D
So?
+Scentrifugal Force Do you drive a BMW or Mercedes?
Huh? Not sure I understand the question. :(
RIP Burt Reynolds we will miss you
Low-End Computing Amen. But remember, Jackie Gleason, Jerry Reed and Pat McCormick died in addition.
.....and Fred the dog.
Took this one hard, I had to have a moment. He was a huge part of my childhood. RIP Bandit
I wish the Bandit Never pass away
"Little Enos" is one of the best songwriters to ever live.
let them look it up. lol
To quote one Walter "Heisenberg" White, you're goddamn right.
Only if you enjoy bloated, ostentatious pop-lite songs of the 70s’
@@lowellcalavera6045 Well, if that "bloated, ostentatious, pop-lite song" was written by "Little Enos" then your damn right I am going to enjoy it! ...and though "[I've] Only Just Begun" to pontificate on Little Enos' song writing skills, its "Monday and its raining which really gets me down" so I guess I will just have to head "Out in the Country" where the trees are "Evergreen" and I can "Fill My Heart" with an "Old Fashioned Love Song". Pop-lite? More like CHA-CHING!
@@josephgleason6801
👏🏻
Paul Williams does a great job of acting here as well.
"A legend and a outa work bum look a lot alike" classic line!
"Thats great psychology...why don't you say something bad about my mother."
lmfao....classic! :)
Love Little Enos comeback. "Your momma's so ugly.."
Emmanuel Williams The comeback is what makes it funny
@@playboymaxim Yesssssss 😆😆...
Yo momma jokes were born.
@@emmanuelwilliams2323 He doesn't even WAIT to say it!
Will miss you Burt. Thank you for creating The Bandit
TheDieHardWWEAddict Let’s not forget about Jackie Gleason, Jerry Reed and Pat McCormick. The three of ‘em passed away too.
Will Robinson 4 sure
Also, Fred. He's been waiting a long, long time for the whole gang to get back together in Heaven.
The animosity between Paul Williams and Burt in this scene is hilarious. Love this movie.
....Then Paul Williams sobered up and saw two robots that wanted to make an album
R.I.P. Burt Reynolds you’ll always be the bandit
LMAO "A legend and an outta work bum look a lot alike daddy" one of my favorite lines in the movie.
Jaya feat.
Best line “Cause he’s thirsty , Dummy”
Sad News. Burt Reynolds has passed away. Godspeed Bandit. You are now riding high in heaven Burt alongside your friend and costar Jerry Reed and chased by the Great Jackie Gleason.
Old legends never die! 😢
Olle Selin So True.
They just drive off into the sunset.
Emmanuel Williams Don’t forget about Pat McCormick. He passed away as well.
WHERE ARE YOU YOU SUMBITCH?!
Paul Williams is hilarious.
“A legend and an out of work bum look a lot alike, daddy.”
Damn, Little Enos is savage.
1:33 the look that Bandit gives Little Enos
Gonna need a new car..... speedy car.......... speedier than that..... :P
The Bandit died today. RIP Brother.
Little Enos whinnies like a pony-classic.
Back when a new TransAm was $7000
The funny thing is an older trans am would be much faster than a 77
@@tommyrutherford400 which is why they used a 76 Trans Am for the movie with a 77 front clipped on it, more Power for the stuns.
' big Ennius word is gold' and the stare he gets from Burt Reynolds immediately after is priceless.
I never caught that until now😂
He’s probably heard that all before from others.
I remember going to the drive in theater watching this movie when it came out in 1977. I was only 5 but I remember it like it was yesterday. I'm 48 now. Damn time flies by. One of my favorite movies of all time. R. I. P. to all the cast members who have passed away.
My brother was born in 1977, January 31st.
@rayharper805 so you’re 5️⃣0️⃣now 😊😊
The night it came out I was setting in my 67 400 4 speed Firebird with my sweetie Angela at the drive-in. All of us guys that were hot rodders when we left the drive-in that night I think half of us with pulled over LOL.
I still own that car reminds me of a lot of good old days.
I Love the suits, It must be a B***h to get size 68 extra Fat and 12 dwarf!!!!!! Classic :-) lol
That line still makes me damn near pee my pants from laughter.
NO! That is fat shaming, and insulting to short people. There should be a law against this hate speech.
@@GregoryTheGr8ster Burp.
Watch your language, little lady.
@@rickmiller1429 Yes, I get your drift. I am appalled at old movies. If I ever am elected president, I will issue an executive order to ban all movies that are insulting. If any of the actors, script writers, directors, and producers of these movies are still alive, I will have them spend some time in prison for hate crimes.
Favourite film, favourite car, favourite lead character, favourite truck, favourite country guitarist. One heck of a film
Don't forget Sally Field's exquisite rump. 😊
Watching this, #2, Hooper and Longest Yard back to back tonight with some beer and pizza.
Dude - throw 'The Cannonball Run' into that mix!
Dude, I would if I had it.
That’s a good night.
My triple bill is this, Deliverance, and Longest Yard (1974).
tvmoviefan yep gator Smokey 1 and 2
A lot of Gunsmoke episodes with quint
I like how Paul Williams whinnys like a horse at the end. LOL!
Loved this movie. Burt Reynolds and Jerry Reed were a great tandem. Rip Bandit and Snowman. Paul Williams was funny as hell. The body of work Paul Williams has done in the entertainment field is incredible. He is one talented guy.
RIP, Burt Reynolds. This was one of my favorites and a truly iconic role for Burt. Now the smokey chase is on again....in heaven! RIP to Smokey, Bandit I, and Bandit II.
Yes!
I'm a great big fat person and I have a normal sized 4 year old son. I think he and I should be Big & Little Enos for Halloween.
unfortunatly, no-one under 40 would get it. damn shame.
did you do it?
Best part is he gets Enos to pay for the beer up front. Then when they take the beer they leave a note telling the owners to send the bill to Big Enos. LOL
" Wait a minute.....Wait a minute !.....Why do you want that Beer so badly ? "----Bandit
" Because he's Thirsty.....Dummy ! "----Little Enos.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !
Still FUNNY !
Paul Williams- Love Boat
Coors then was known for the fact that it had no preservatives. But that’s because it had to be refrigerated the whole time, and because of that, it couldn’t be gotten East of Texarkana then. Hence the 28 hour deadline!
That was indeed 😆...
He looked so handsome here. Loved his laugh. RIP Burt
Classic movie! I hope they don't screw up and remake/reboot/retell/reimagine/or whatever other word they choose to justify it, this classic.
They have to, they have no original ideas left. There's plenty of stuff like the Stainless Steel Rat & the Anita Blake series, but they don't want to hear that. (Then again, it wouldn't appeal to this demographic, but anyway.)
RIP "Bandit".
They will never find someone as good as Jackie Gleason to do a remake.
they probably will with an all female cast- Hollywood pc bull sh*t
John West as the trend goes, I will be a black cast
Would you believe this was the highest grossing film of 1977.... until Star Wars came out later that year and blew everything out of the water?
They were both released in May. Smokey on 19th, and Star Wars on the 25th.
Star wars wasn't the big hit from the beginning everyone thought it was.
@@mt3311 Depends how you look at it. Star Wars was only released in a handful of theaters at first, and there were lines around the block at every theater for every showing. Soon after, it had a much wider release.
@@WinslowLeach1974 I saw the Evil Knievel movie before I saw either of these. I didn't see Star Wars until a December field trip in school.
@@mt3311 I love Viva Knievel! But then again, I loved/love anything Evel. Bad or good :)
Rest in peace Burt!
Man I just heard about Burt Reynolds passing. I was having a shitty day and it just got shittier with this news. Gonna miss you Burt. R.I.P. good buddy.
I'm an old action-comedy movie buff, and I'm a huge fan of Smokey & The Bandit. And, let me tell ya, I was completely sad when other one of it's cast had past: Burt Reynolds.
R.I.P Burt Reynolds, Jerry Reed, & Jackie Gleason. Let us all have a moment of silence, and remember this laugh. 0:15
2:28 that laugh just gets me everytime lmfao
I want to wake up one day and find out that I got transported back in time , that I am there in this 70’s era with this amazing fashion , lots of country western style real music , real honest , kind and pure people , and all my heroes still alive , I wanna go and see Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers playing live , and it will be the happiest day of my life , and I want to forget I’ve ever seen past the 90’s ... $ 85.000.00 dollars for a brand new Peterbuilt , man I miss the 70’s , I miss the 80’s and 90’s ....
Take me with you!
norcalsportsguy you’re in man ...
Brilliant film...always comes up in conversation with mates
Me too, we're always re-enacting bandit movies at work. IMO, Jackie Gleason made these movies what they.

I'll need a car to block for the truck............Speedy car.......Speedier than that!!!!............Go head !!! I love that line!!!
Frog asked Bandit if the car if it moved. Bandit said "oh yeah".
His laugh will never be old
Burt Reynolds made it possible for his good friend Hal Needham to direct Smokey and the Bandit and for that we are all grateful.
Burt thanks for all the fantastic memories RIP.
The look on Burt’s face to the “Because he’s thirsty Dummy “ haha it gets me every time
Random trivia: "Little Enos Burdette" Paul Williams was (and still is) a very talented song writer and singer at the time of this filming. He had already co-written the Carpenters' 1971 hit "Rainy Days And Mondays" before this movie.
+Nfarce He was 'Swan; in the 1974 movie 'Phantom Of The Paradise'
Paul Williams was great in this part.
The way he was handling those $100.00 bills that's what I did when I told my car salesman I need a newer Mustang! He showed me one then I said "Speedier than that" then I took out more cash! Lol 😂
RIP BANDIT 🏎️💨♥️
One of my favorite actors! I loved his laugh. He had the best laugh, made all the more appealing by the fact that the laugh didn't match with his looks, lol! RIP Burt.
“Speedy car. Speedier car than that.”
As for Big & Little there, they did a pilot for a buddy cop TV series. “I’ll draw their fire.” “You draw their fire? Stevie Wonder could hit you!”
There are not many films that not only have incredible opening sequences but also deliver across the entire movie. This is one of 'em.
For sure and look at all the extras in this everyone so thin besides big Enos.
Rest in Peace, Burt. You will be missed. I loved your movies.
I love this scene. Paul Williams was brilliant as Little Enos.
I am now 51 yrs. old and can still watch Smokey and the Bandit whenever I want to on TouTube. Tiffany Deaton
::peels off a few more hundreds:: “Speedier than that” lmao 😂
