    I started learning Japanese for several reasons. It's led to me discovering Japanese rock bands! And your channel. 😊
    Also, I worked at a company where the former bass player of Hinder worked in one of our stores, so I actually worked with him one day. I was actually shocked.

      @@AsagisLifeNoBSJapan No, it was in Atlanta. I guess he moved here after he left Hinder.
      It was interesting, because I'm a musician as well, so everyone was like, "Ooh, Michael, when you go visit that store, you'll be excited, because there's a rock star working there."
      When the day came, sure enough, there he was. The tattoos and ear gauges were a dead giveaway that it was him. He saw the look of recognition in my eye, but I left him alone.
      My thought was "he doesn't want to talk about this with me, so I'm not going to bother him." My reasoning is that I was once in a band (we didn't even come anywhere near to the level of success Hinder experienced), and having that dream to "make it" - but then it doesn't happen - is just something I wouldn't really want to talk about with a complete stranger at work. Maybe he wouldn't have minded, but I just thought it best to leave him alone.
      Anyway, that's the story. Not that there's much to it! 😂

    Oh my god, this is so relatable! Back in 2019 I discovered a Japanese rock band called Band-Maid, and I fell absolutely head-over-heels in love with them. I started learning Japanese so that I could actually speak to them if I ever got a chance to meet them. I'm pretty introverted and don't normally like crowds, but I braved some crowds anyway to see them play at Aftershock and at their one-man shows in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Sadly, due to covid they don't do meet-and-greets anymore, but knowing some Japanese helps with the MC portions of their shows and the Omajinai Time segment that they do. Thanks for sharing this, Asagi!

    • @McLinx99
      @McLinx99 Před rokem +5

      Nice, I think Band-Maid was also a factor of my motivation to learn Japanese, but I couldn't really talk with them directly, since they never offered an opportunity at their concerts I went (I went on two concerts in europe). Sadly, I don't really enjoy their music as much as I did years ago and hardly listen to them at all 😅

    • @SpawnedInTheHades
      @SpawnedInTheHades Před rokem +2

      @@McLinx99 it saddens me a bit to hear that you don't really listen to them much anymore, I've listened to them literally every single day since I discovered them 3 years ago. They're always coming out with new music. I can't really judge though. I used to be obsessed with Evanescence back in the day, but I haven't listened to them in years. Still, I've never been as in love with a band as I am with Band-Maid. They're the only band I've ever bought merch for, and gone to see concerts for.

      @@SpawnedInTheHades They have changed music style again over the last three years, and their really early stuff was written for them (Maid in Japan & New Beginning)!
      From 2016 they moved labels and got full creative freedom, so they have three distinct sounds in the bands history! Then a fan base for each era, plus the general fans of them all (Me)🤘

    The name Hinder rings a bell for me as far as bands go, but it is going back a little while ago and truth be told my memory is a bit crap.
    For me for learning languages is about being able to get by in foreign countries in their own language. I have found that people are so much more open and welcoming (not to mention far more willing to help you) if you are willing to put in a bit of effort.
    Japanese has proven to be a far bigger challenge for me than the European languages I have tried to learn (I can only speak very basically in most, except for Swedish which I am not too bad at. I used to have a girlfriend in Sweden so I had extra motivation to learn), but I am determined to get to the position where I can at least have basic conversation by the time I am able to visit.
    Sorry about the long post, I was sent down memory lane.

When it comes to learning language and/or getting interested in culture, it doesn't matter how you get started. What matters is that you start. I'm grateful I speak several languages, it didn't even do it on purpose, I was kind of forced into it and I honestly didn't enjoy it, it's only later in life I realised this was a true blessing.
    The annoying thing with Japanese; speaking it isn't too bad, it's harder than other languages, but it's still pretty ok, the true obstacle comes when you hit Kanji, that I would say is the bigger obstacle. Not being able to read is a big obstacle even if you do speak the language.
    I speak 4 languages fluently, I even have the local accent, I can write them, My German & Japanese have been stuck at the basic level and It's fair to say I lack the motivation to try to improve my base for these 2 languages. i'm just so busy with other stuff, I can't put any time into serious studying once again, it's just been too many years where I had to study anything truth be told.

    2007 that would make you mid to late thirties. I swear eastern women age so much better than western ones. Not speaking for all western women, but it does seem that age doesn’t quite catch as quickly. But I’ve also seen that in Japan women are against being tan and do what they can to keep away from the sun, which is a huge contributor to aging you faster, so maybe that has something to do with it.

I first began learning Japanese because I wanted to watch the anime and understand what was being said.(笑)I still can't speak or understand Japanese enough though. My motivation wasn't as strong as yours to focus on books and studying.

    Sister-fister to all you B-E-A-U-Tifull individuals.
    If you came this far, than your are even more beautiful than ever, just remember loves comes in many ways, and self-caring is the first rule of loving. Id just want to remind you and me about begin a real human begin besides our simple genders, it should not define us as different but Equals Humans, today we have much more freedom than we used to have all over the world, personally do id believe in a global United Nations, and the sustainable goals made for world peace by United Nations, Europe way as you know are United state also a part of the huge UN, as UN also made NATO possible its all one ironic, all after the second world war have there been struggle for world peace, and conventions of forms for humanity in which we all follow for personal believes but also for peace itself. We should not devine us into parts of human begins and say this is my dirt and you are not a part of this because you come from a hole different country it makes no sense, in believing it this way if you ask me.
    Well id just wanted to share some personal perspective on what id think the world situation is and where we are trying to move and for what reason we are together on this planet, world peace is a realistic goal to set for us as humanity, but enough about that, as woman you have a lot of freedom today mostly because before in time lady was someone who took care of the children while the farther, went out for making a living and getting the familiy some money, while today the woman is much more free from the Man and want to explore her self, sexsually, mentally, and experience ect. The same goes for the Man but we are much more looking for a sustainable partner which can provide us with children and taking care of duty around the house, the role of the man is still the same while the Role for the woman is clearly something else, and this create a barrier for Men and Women, we have to learn to put all gender roles aside and look at us as simple human who makes mistakes.
    Iv know there are some verbal mistakes, hope you can forgive me.
    Humble wishs Nipple

    My wifes english is far more fluent and better than me yet english is my native language and its her 2nd language. English was never my strengths in school. I struggled a lot yet I did pass with grade Cs but it was a struggle. So I can humbly accept that there will be far better people in english than me even if its my native language.
