      Hi Colleen, have you tried a tongue scraper? They come in metal or silicone and are really effective, a bit more so than brushing.

    Im on day 7 of 30 days of ADF. I've done several different types of fasts in the past but this is my first time doing ADF this long. My goal is to be disciplined and consistent. I want to prove to myself that i can do hard things and i want to live a healthier lifestyle. I've been binge watching your videos on my fast days to stay motivated. Thank you for your transparency.

      I found it hard to fast on weekends due to social activities. Hopefully this 2nd month will be a lot easier

    Since I don't have facebook I'll put my experience and tips here that worked for me:
    1. My easiest version of ADF is fasting 2 days in a row per week. Rest is feast or OMAD. The reason for me is because the first day fast is 'hardest' but second day is so so easy for me.
    2. Don't be afraid to do dirty fasting, because after a while you really won't crave anything on your fasting days and can just drink water and electrolytes.
    3. My arms were a very hard spot to lose weight. lifting weight made them 'fatter'. What worked is doing at least half an hour cardio-like movements like flapping them around 😂 preferable daily. I did it in front of my tv
    4. Learn to enjoy fast days. Like Colleen says there are a lot of health benefits to fasting and you might have to do it for the rest of your life to keep the weight off. So if you learn to enjoy fasting you will keep it up. For me it's feeling energized, light, flexibel and I don't have to worry about what to eat, less mood swings.

    Hi Colleen, can you please set up another ADF challenge? The May challenge was life changing for me, it was the first time I had even heard of ADF and I just jumped straight into it because I happened to see the preparation video in time. And it really helped to read people’s daily updates on the Facebook group! Perhaps a December or January (or both lol) whole month challenge?

      ​@@colleenmariethello how are you? I watched your ADF since September 2023 and I Like your how you explain everything. I tried the ADF not realizing that I did it for 2 weeks and had no meat no sugar no bread or sodas. I added the startch solution. It was different and I felt great! During that time I lost 11 pounds. U had no aches in my body. Now since my last trip after October 22nd it has been hard for me to get back in that habit... I haven't gain it back but I can feel a BIG difference in my body... I'm aching again feeling bloated. So tell me this. .. I am taking the Ryze mushroom coffee daily since November 7th and trying not to at work. Do u think that will help me any? I try to get an excerise in somewhere but I can't make that happen(lazy, I guess) haha.. tell me wat I need to do to get back on track, and if the Ryze superfood mushroom coffee is ok. Thanks and keep doing wat you do to help us.

    So many people have asked about brushing their teeth while fasting. Because they were afraid is creating an insulin response because of the toothpaste. (I feel that sort of thinking can lead to disordered eating habits.)
    Freshen your mouth! It will make the day easier on everyone around you.

    This is right on time, I’m trying to get through a 36 hour fast. I did a prep week only cooking at home which is hard for me…cause I eat out a lot. For the first 22 hours I’m good until I get the hunger pains 🤦🏽‍♀️ Then if someone wants to go out, it is a wrap. Great info, you are so right understanding the true importance of fasting. You are my inspiration, I will be so excited once I can comment completed 36 hours 💃🏽

    Well this morning I thought I have successfully completed my 36 hour fast, only to watch this video and realise that I did it all wrong 😔 I’m sad because I really thought I powered through it. I added sugar in my coffee so I can have enough energy for gym and not have the dizzy feeling and nausea. After watching this video, I got the tips I needed which is the sea salt tip and definitely trying it tomorrow because today is FEAST 💃🏽🤭 but I have to say your tips really do work. When I have the “I’m hungry feeling” I get busy and continue with whatever I’m doing an really ignore it, that feeling lasts me for about 30min and then it feels like it was never there. In the evening it tends to get a little bit more difficult especially after gym because I do high intensity workouts and I’m used to listening to my body to eat after workouts, but I just go home and go straight to bed. Sleep helps me avoid that feeling of wanting to go to the kitchen or of watching reels and videos of food 🤤. Tomorrow I’ll be trying again, and hopefully I’ll be getting the “autophagy and ketosis” part correct.
    All the best to everyone trying this out there, beginning might not be easy but just do it, you’ll realise it’s easier than the though of it. Big ups to you for putting your health first. There’s nothing more important than knowing your strengths and being at your fullest living potential. ♥️♥️ one love

    Everything you said was on point, lately I have not fasted because of stress (my children included). I need to figure out how to relax rather than eat when they start to lose their minds throughout the day. I have went up to 7 days when fasting and brushing you teeth is SUPER important. I floss, then rinse with hydrogen peroxide for 30 seconds and brush everything (gums, teeth, and tongue). That feeling of "fasted mouth/breath" would make you want to stop.

    8:37 had me rolling. 😂 I've been doing IF off and on for a while but I think I'm ready for ADF. At first, I rebuked it because I thought it was impossible but after watching you for over a year, seeing the testimonials of others, and doing my own research I've decided to give it a go.     I’ve done Adf in October but can’t seem to repeat it…I’m going to try it after today (Sunday) OMAD meal. So skip Monday and resume eating on Tuesday. I’ve lined up a standing only hitt workout, and a list of activities to work on to help get me through. I’m excited..I think a 36hr fast or 2 a week is greatly beneficial, especially for insulin resistance.

    Thank you 🙏 Colleen for this video. It is timely for me as I have been struggling with ADF. I started in September and lost almost 10 lbs after putting in 100% effort. Since October I have been struggling by breaking my fasts early or not fueling with food properly on my feast days so my results reflect that (mostly stagnation). I know it is mental for me mostly. So I appreciate your tips here and even showing us doing them. It reminds us that all of us on ADF are doing the same things for a better us even if there is no one to witness the work we put in.
    By the way, it was fun to see a candid moment when you son joined you in your workout. You are a great mom and role model to your children.

    Right now I'm allowing life to life. I sucessfully did May's challenge and thought it would continue. Boy was I wrong. I thought November would be the month to restart but my mom fell and broke her wrist, so that was a no go. I'm determined however to get back on track and tired of "life" excusing my bad eating habits. I was proud of myself for May's challenge andcwant to be proud of myself again. Your journey has been a big inspiration and continues to be. Thank you so much for sharing your ups, downs, wins and losses. You are human and you have no problems showing it.

    Feast day for me and I eating Dino 🦕 nuggets and pomegranate juice for dinner. Not the healthiest but my dietitian say I can include fun foods in my diet and If I restrict myself I will binge. I not asking for diet advice. I fast a lot and lost 125 lbs since 2021.
    But I am very open to fasting tips! Which why I watching this video.

    Hi Colleen Marie. Your group and videos have meant a lot to me on my journey with ADF. It kept me going during hard times, but I stuck to fasting every other day due to you. I have been very active, spending sometimes hours on trying to help people every day. Today is the 9nth month since I began. It's been annual for me to post a monthly report every 13th in the month. I had prepared a long post as usual with this month as I made so much progress, including beating the 100kg mark. But when I was about to post I found that I had been banned from the group. I feel that I followed the rules, always posted with respect, and I received a lot of positive comments,. When there were disagreements I tried my best to handle them with respectful distancing. I am sad it ended like this. I had looked forward to post my own before-and-after photos after reaching my goal which seems to be before next summer.

I know I often informed people to not post about 48h+ fasts in the group, referring to your featured post as I saw many post 72h results, people attempting to do 72h fasts, and new members burning out from them. I know people disagreed with my stance of caution towards excluding something flat from your diet (especially when you're absolutely new on ADF), but I had rehab for an eating disorder in the past so I put a lot of value on balance, psychological, emotional and social wellbeing, and let people give up vices (sugar, wheat, carbs etc) when they got the basics and are ready, to avoid stress, burnouts and backfires. I also managed to give up my own sugar addiction decades ago only with the help of alternative sweeteners, so I always had Jason Fung's approach whenever someone asked; "Artificial sweeteners may stimulate insulin release. You can try fasting with the sweeteners - if you get good results, then continue.". I know people have different reactions to them as they help some stick to ADF long term but make it more difficult for others.

    No, I’ve never done a 36 hour fast. I have done 500 calorie down days. Why not? I guess it would most likely have to do with a combination of lack of will power + fear that I could not do it. However, I’m going to attempt my first 36 hour fast tomorrow. Wish me luck!

    I can’t believe I have been doing ADF for almost a month now! Most of it has been clean fasting. You haven’t had much issue with loose skin, even with dirty fasting initially right?

    I experienced w/ an idea.
    I ate a HUGE breakfast (1200 calories) + snacks (500 cals)
    I started my 40 hr fast @ 11:30am. I wasn’t hungry for the rest of the day. Come 10:30pm, I’m not hungry and it’s time for bed. Between 10:30pm-6:30am, any hunger hormones/cravings are gone. I’m sleeping during my 18 hour fast. By the time I wake up and start my day, no hunger cuz I’m burning fat.

    Yaay!! good to see you its been a lil minute since Ive seen a video it is always good to see your videos pop up, Yess Its the Tongue brushing for me when I use to tell my friends about brushing their tongue they thought I was wierd!! but now guess who is brushing their tonngue, THEM!!!! :) i really focus on that tongue because it harbors a lot of not so good germs from all we put in out motuh through out the day Brushing Teeth of Course is a A must... thanks fior all the Fasting tips

    Hi! Last two weeks I did a 72h fast I felt so good after watching a vid my Mindy I will do it every month she said to do it twice a year but I feel I can do it every month. Also I vary my fast during the week I do two days of fast then one day I eat etc. I really love doing that and the next week I can go on and do one day fast then fest. Anyways thank you for your vid.     I did a two week fast once for spiritual reasons and I had to brush my tounque twice a day. It would just get disgusting, it brought a white layer on my tounque (which apparently is candida). It was gross but interesting. I also had an amazing nose which normally I can hardly smell anything. But while I was fasting then, I could literally smell a lot of people's breath. It was intense lol

    Hardest thing for me is sleeping on a 36 hour fast. First night great! Second night I wake up at 1-3am and can't go back to sleep!

    I do intermittent fasting but am thinking about starting alternate fasting but my family is thinking am crazy as I have epilepsy.

    This is insanely hard mental battle for me~ To the point I feel if I don't eat anything at this very second - I will die or lose my mind... And I get such a black cloud of depression hover me. Is there way to sail through fasting days more smoothly?

    @colleenmariet I work 10hr overnight shifts…is there something I should be mindful of to complete a 36hr fast when working nights…I’ve been trying to breakup with coffee by using the powdered packet of Celsius energy in water which is 10calories per packet and most times I don’t use the whole thing… I purchased it from the vitamin shoppe if your interested in trying it …would that be considered breaking my fast?

    Whenever I aim to do ADF I always develop intense gas in my stomach cramping gas pain in my lower abdomen and in my butt and headaches 😩 it's so frustrating I'm currently doing 18/6 I always have huge fibroids so it make my stomach big which looks really weird on me trying to aim for a flat tummy but these fibroids makes it so hard to achieve do you know if it's possible to get a flat stomach with fibroids?

    Hi colleen! I just wanted to say thank you! Your words resonates with me so much. I have successfully completed 3 36hr fast, on my forth as I am typing! I just hear your words on my fast day “today we fast, tomorrow we feast!” Thank you for sharing your experience. I decided to weigh myself water completing my first week of fast.
