In my past, I have ED. All from restricting, over exercise. Binging. I think just the thought of not eating, my brain thinks starvation. Right now, I am feeling stronger in my relationship with food. But it takes time to heal years of hating my cerebral palsy and body.

Colleen, thank you for your guidance. Because of your videos I went on ADF about a month ago and I like it better than OMAD. It got me off the plateau that was discouraging me. One thing that helps on fast days is hearing your voice in my head, If you're overweight you're not hungry. I'm pretty much at my weight goal (-70 pounds), and now I'm trying to address the excess skin with autophagy and strength training. I am eating in the carnivore style, though I'm definitely not in the carni-cult mentality. If I'm out with friends, I make good menu choices, and don't beat myself up. I feel like I found a sweet spot with ADF, so thank you!

Insomnia, especially on fasting nights, has been a pain since I started 10 months ago. Tried magnesium, melatonin, muscle relaxer, max duration is about 2 hours between awakeness. I don't wake up feeling tired though 🤔

Congrats on your weight lost journey , your video is great and very well articulated . I lost 40 lbs in 9 weeks doing ADF , I feel so much better than 40lbs ago . On my Feast days I gorge myself with one meal + 1 ripe mangoes and 1 Orange, this often put me to sleep after eating . Based on this diet for the week I find my self having 4 feeding sessions . I have not done any form of exercises in the 9 week period .
In the near future I may have to do at least one meal per day to limit the pace of weight loss . I agree 100% this ADF ( Alternate Day Fasting ) works but you have to have a WHY + DISCIPLINE , 100% Tangible results in less than 2 weeks guaranteed. I understand not everyone is willing to deal with the pain and challenges within the first two week which our bodies are adjusting to this new lifestyle . I am a whole new person since Ii have lost that 40lbs, to all other out there struggling , YOU CAN DO THIS !

Hi, congrats on your weightloss! I'm curious about your one meal. I find it hard to get more than 1,000 cals in 1-1.5hours. Especially low carb.... I was on my fitness journey since June, lost 30lbs just eating better and walking 3miles daily. But I stalled the past month... I've done fasting before, not heavily so I decided to get into ADF to break my plateau... I have another 130lbs to lose. I had my last meal Friday at 7pm (weighed in 308lbs that morning)..my meal Sunday morning 8am was 1small apple and lemon, cinnamon salad, the 2 scrambled eggs in coconut oil with 4oz Avocado, then protein shake with almond milk and collagen... Each over 30min intervals. It's barely capped 800cals 😢. It's now Monday (weighed in this morning 303.8) , I planned to tweak my dinner today add in a few more things dried mackeral and peanut butter in my protein shake.... I can only do what I have at home right now. Since I've started, I haven't felt hungry but I look forward to my meal. I've felt a bit weak, I started adding salt and acv... Found some shilajit I had forgotten in my desk at work, drank some and felt great until I walked down the street to pick up a box. But yeah my main concern is what to eat without eating too much..if that makes sense....I feel like I'm forcing to eat as it is.

Thank you for all of this information! I have started ADF but tweaked it a little to follow my cycle. From day 20- the first day of my period, I don't fast, and I find it's better for hormone/mood regulation and easier to fast throughout the month. Also, my cravings are way better, and I don't crave sugar before my period anymore, just real food. I would have never found the courage to start this if I hadn't found your videos, really appreciate you.

Yeah.. I am three weeks in and I was starting to have trouble eating enough on my feast day and then getting very hungry on my fast days. The solution that is currently working for me is to eat smaller portions more frequently on my feast day, so instead of my usual two meals a day, I divide the same portion into two and have them in four servings instead of two. Seems to be helping me cope better on my fast days .

I fell off during the May challenge but I’ve restarted now.
This time around, I don’t use the fasting apps. They made me feel like the fasts lasted forever. I’m doing better without being obsessive about the time when I stop & start eating.
I’m also not weighing myself till the end of June. In May, I lost motivation after losing 3kg in the 1st week and not losing anything after the 2nd week.
Sugar free gum & water have also been helpful when I start to feel a boredom craving.
I’m also not doing actual ADF. I’m doing 4:3 which helps me with adherence so I fast for 3 non-consecutive days, eat for 3 full days and do 16:8 on the 4th eating day.
I’ve found that it’s easier for me to fast all day when I’m at work because I’m busy with different tasks. If I’m home all day, I either cave to the fridge or order out.

Same here! It's so easy to fast on my work days, but on my off days is when I am challenged. Fortunately, I have A LOT of things that NEED to be done around the house. Last weekend I bagged up all my winter clothes to be donated as I'm sure they won't fit come this winter. So excited for that! If I keep busy around the house and/or do things outside of the house, it helps, but I'm still working on that one too. I feel like when I've mastered fasting on my off days things will really escalate.

I started ADF April first. I’ve lost over 25 lbs. I’m really loving this new way of life. I think I’ll be at my goal weight by August. It’s life changing. The one downside I’ve noticed is hair shedding. I know that people who drastically start losing weight can start losing hair, but I also know it’ll come back. I feel pretty healthy. I’m going to look for some new vitamins tomorrow. I did try the liquid iron supplement you suggested and it wasn’t bad. It just may not be practical whenever I need to leave the house for a couple days. I love your before and after photos. Thank you for the motivating videos. You have a lot of great advice!

Mind set change is key. I actually had to gear up and psych myself for this month, but I DID IT! It was a dirty fast *coffee creamer* but I made it. So what I'll do next is continue to work on fasting adaptation and I will eventually transition to clean fasting, right now no f$%ks given about clean or dirty. Another thing, at least for me, prepare yourself the day before you feast so you have an idea of what you're going to eat. I did that too. Girl! I was daydreaming about that Caesar salad! I got off work and went home and made homemade croutons before I went to sleep. Woke up and made my own dressing and it was the best Caesar salad I've ever made for myself! Your videos are fire! They help when I'm struggling or when I just want a little boost. Your voice is soothing and it feels like the more I listen the more it's sinking in. The cool thing is I have the same body type as you and I, too am tall, I'm 5'8 with a naturally athletic form when I'm in shape. Can't wait to get back to that! I'm almost in tears as I write this because I feel like I've tried everything and I never stick to anything but the MINDSET! Ooof! Allowing myself to transition and not beating myself up over being imperfect is HUGE! Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU! I'm gonna get my Hollister jeans this Christmas dangit! No shame!

Your mental attitude is huge with IF/ADF. Just think about how you can enjoy eating the next day, but don’t go crazy on your feast day. I find, with myself, the longer I’m on IF, the less hungry I am on my feast day, which is fine.I believe you need a lot of discipline if you really want the results. Weight loss can take time, and that’s ok. Everybody’s journey and body’s react different. Be patient.

I noticed you taking about a vegan creamer in a video and wanted to share that i made my own with almond milk, soy/sunflower lecithin powder and avocado oil in a blended. Super easy and way less expensive - plus you get to control what's in it. I added vanilla one time, or stevia in the raw. My basic recipe was like 12oz unsweetened almond milk, 2tsp avocado oil and 1 tsp lecithin powder. But you can't really mess it up, it's either thicker or thinner - just play around. I have been trying to add a third day on Fridays, but it’s like my body just doesn’t want to fast a third time for me to do 4:3. Any idea what might be causing this? Every time I fast, I experience a headache or lightheadedness or hunger (etc) right at 20 hours. I put electrolyte powder in my water, drink it, and it goes away within 20-30 minutes.
Then everything is easy after that. I seriously feel I can fast forever. I hope you try it.
Just get to the other side to see how easy it is after that 👍

    • @alinap.7298
      @alinap.7298 Před rokem +1

I had the same surgery. I definitely would not deprive myself before the surgery. You’re going to have to do a bowel prep, and that’s enough.
Definitely increase protein before and after the surgery, but especially after.
I lost my appetite for a bit after the surgery, maybe for about 2 weeks, then I gained those few pounds back.
Definitely make sure you do not get constipated after the surgery. Take whatever you have to avoid that.
There are enough things to think about with surgery… including taking meds with food! Fasting can wait. It will be there.

I started ADF on May 8th and continued till the end of the month. In June I continued ADFing but I had to take a weekend of stop from the 2nd till 4th of June, where I principally did IF for some hours. May was a up and down time but I learned a lot and now I can clean fast with just water and unflavored, unsweetened, black coffee.
I haven't weighted myself during this period nor recently in June. A thing I've experienced, which in my view is a negative aspect, is the fear of not seeing results. Not just scale-wise, but also in terms of clothes and pictures and inches and even in the mirror. Thus I wonder if anyone has suggestions or ideas regarding this mentality, this aspect 🫣
