    If Montreal isn’t planning to buy out gallagher and Gallagher , than this isn’t a bad idea , regardless of the amount of points either guys get, Montreal gets 11 mils of cap space freed after next season instead of having Anderson for 3 years and the leafs free up 5.5 mil , enough to go get a decent defenseman to help them out.
    If Montreal isn’t planning to fight for a playoffs spot, why not? Montreal still have to trade 2 or 3 defensemen maybe they could package a blockbuster deal. The only problem , Toronto has no prospect and no decent draft picks to sweeten any deal. The Leaf are in a very very bad position

    • @kevinsargent6282
      @kevinsargent6282 Před 11 dny +2

      Idea sure seems crazy at first, but as explained in the video, it does make a lot of sense for both teams - immediate cap relief for the Leafs and long term cap relief for the Habs. Of course Anderson has had a couple down seasons, but he does have the skills and potential to bounce back, particularly if he plays with Matthews. The main problem (and reason this won’t happen) is that both players have partial or modified NMC’s, and both grew up as fans and proud of their current teams, and the reason they signed the long term deals they did (Anderson’s family is from Burlington, ON, but grew up as Habs fans… there are videos on this). So, the odds of either guy shutting the trade down is very high, especially Tavares. But fun idea to think about. 😉

    • @stephaneferron5317
      @stephaneferron5317 Před 11 dny +1

      @@kevinsargent6282 the way Anderson and Tavares are playing , waiving their ntc , would turned the fans against them . They get booed and torn appart in social medias, the fans wants Tavares outta Toronto as he’s hurting them with his cap hit and Montreal would destroyed Anderson if he dares waive his ntc.
      The NTC doesn’t mean much in big market , if the fans turns against you , you better accept going anywhere or you career and life would be over pretty fast.
      Again if Hugues isn’t planning or doesn’t have other option of moving Gallagher or Anderson than this makes a lot of sense
      You could even package a defenseman in the deal to make room in Montreal , but it all depends on what Hugues wants to do, doe he wants to become a contender this year and overpay to get rid of Anderson and Gallagher or does he wants to make that trade and wait to aquire something big when Tavares , dvorak and Armia become UFA in 2025, as they will free up 20 millions in cap space🤷🏼‍♂

    • @kevinsargent6282
      @kevinsargent6282 Před 11 dny

      @@stephaneferron5317 I don’t see Hughes “overpaying” to get rid of anyone, as that would be a “waste” of resources, and that is not his style. 😏. If there is an opportunity to unload those guys at even or advantage (think Hoffman last year!), he will do it.
      Of course, neither Gallagher nor Anderson look very appealing with their contracts now, but they will gradually look better as the contract burns down and the salary cap goes up. At one point, someone will take a chance once the contract is shorter (or swap for another underperforming or “bad” contract that Kent feels may be a good reclamation project), possibly with some small retention. Just need patience. 🙂

Yet, I do not want to see Tavares on the Sabres. I think he is a potential grey cloud. I would rather Buffalo trade for Josh Anderson.
    One idea, though, is that perhaps Utah may pull the trigger on a trade for JT. Besides Keller, they do not really have a face of the franchise. Plus...Utah has a boatload of 2nd rd picks.

    Very big mistake to get rid of Anderson he is what you need come playoff team hockey put him with Kirby dach and slav and you will have one of the most dominant all-around lines in hockey
