    As a Flyers fan who is old enough to say this, I have not been this amped about a prospect since Eric Lindros. Any Flyers fan reading this who is old enough to remember the buzz around Lindros and the drama surrounding that draft knows what I’m talking about. I cannot wait to see Michkov in the orange and black. Matvei, thank you for choosing Philly. I promise you won’t find a more passionate fan base!

      I’m a huge Flyers fan and agree 100% that there is not a more passionate fanbase. In all honesty if I’m the NHL, I’d be doing anything to help the Flyers become relevant again. It’s just plain old good for the league. Regarding the Lindros trade and I remember it vividly. If I’m not mistaken, a mediator or something had to decide between the Rangers or the Flyers on the trade with the Nordiques. Although Lindros was a great player and looking back on it, I kinda wish they decided the Rangers got the trade. The Flyers gave up a ton in it and helped the Avalanche get the cup because of it. If you took a poll of fans on just Forsberg for Lindros straight up, a lot would choose Forsberg after the career he had.

    • @matt-dp1kf
      @matt-dp1kf Před 9 dny +1

      @@greengrass1072 It’s easy to look back and debate whether the Flyers “won” or “lost” in the long term with the Lindros deal. I’m simply saying that the excitement for Lindros was a blast to experience and, Cup or not, he was probably my favorite player I ever got to watch. The league had never seen anything quite like him. His combination of size, speed, strength and skill was simply unmatched. Maybe we would have been better off had Lindros gone to the Rangers, but, from the perspective of a fan looking to be entertained, Lindros delivered in spades.

      I'm nowhere near the fanboy level that I had for Lindros but that's simply because I've matured and become more callous. Getting Michkov however is top priority in my book and I'm still super excited. This is the key to turning the Flyers organization around and getting us over that "middle of the road" hump the Flyers have been stuck in for years. I really thought we'd get a cup with Giroux but I have to let that go. Just like the Lindros era, I'll still have fond memories but it's time to move on.

      @@matt-dp1kf My mistake for even going on that bit of a rant about the trade to get Lindros. You were just simply comparing the excitement levels of getting the two players. But that’s what the trifecta of bad GM’s in Holmgren, Hextall and Fletcher will do to ya, rushing to the negative of something. I had a feeling they weren’t gonna have to wait the full three years to get Michkov and I’m thrilled about it myself. I think this off-season might be one of the most important in Flyer history regarding the future of this franchise. Are they gonna kickstart the rebuild with trades knowing Michkov is now coming early? Or are they just gonna wait for the money to free up in the next year or two and stay the course with the draft picks? It’s definitely an exciting time to be a Flyer fan to see what happens next.

It made no sense to me that he was gonna fulfill his KHL contract because we've already seen many players in the past leave their contracts early to go to the NHL. It's not hard to terminate/buy those contracts out in Russia. BTW: I believe Michkov wanted to play in Philly because theres a large Russian community there. There's a "Lil Russia" part of the city where everything is Russian. I would know cuz Im Russian and I love partying there😁

    He didn’t just fall down from 2nd to 7th in the draft because of his contract. Its becoming clearer that he wanted to be in Philadelphia. And probably made it clear to other teams in one way or another… so because of this, We can’t regret not drafting him. And a personality like this, not sure you want him anyway. Talent is one thing, desire to win, and humility, is another. He has talent, the rest is doubtful. I can predict he will be a good talent, and will eventually lead to get multiple coaches fired. And Philly, will not win in playoffs… winning in playoffs is not done by talent alone. If so, Edmonton should have cups already, same with Toronto.
    And just watch when Michkov signs his first real contract. He will destroy the team’s hopes for a good team for 10 years by taking as much as possible, like the top players in Edmonton and Toronto. Hard to win with only a first line in the playoffs.

For all we know the coach and him dont get along or see eye to eye but that wasnt ever really reported either but if it was true that doesn't make it michkovs fault automatically, its a baseless accusation and what seems more likely is they knew he was going to the NHL much sooner then his contract year and since they have his rights its likely they loaned him to sochi for guaranteed playing time Instead of factoring him into their plans. Who knows maybe they figured he would just leave russia without properly getting out of his contract but either way they knew they would get paid if he left early. @@michaelwou1667 it's totally different in the NHL, Bulchelnikov was also just loaned out by St Petersburg, they are a team notorious for not giving their young players time to develop this is well known so I assume it's very much culture. Michkov was already very young for his class and was still outproducing everyone on every team and international team he played for. They didn't even give him any time whatsoever in 4 games unless you count 2 or 3 minutes in one game. They are an extremely good team already and don't necessarily care or need to play an 18 year old, it's not different from the NHL all that much in that the loan is the equivalent of him playing for the phantoms instead. They run their club and prospects how they like, this year specifically it was more of a mutual decision Instead of michkov having no say, meaning why would he even want to play for a team that clearly doesn't care all the much what happens because he's not in their plans because he wanted to come to the NHL asap. It's a small miracle they actually loaned him out at all as they are notorious for not doing that for young players at all. Vladimir firstov was also loaned out despite him out scoring guys like panarin and marchenko at the same stage of their careers, they don't give answers for why its not the NHL. Sergie Ivanov they also loaned out and he is a phenomenal goalie, could make a case to win rookie of the yea... but its not that deep of whatever the reason they loaned michkov out at all
