  • Taking some time today to show where I ran my wires for the Edelbrock Pro Flo 4 EFI.
    You can get the Edelbrock Pro-Flo 4 here: amzn.to/2yCkAyk
    Mount the ECU with this: amzn.to/2QBHHCf
    The Throttle cable bracket: amzn.to/36lGzrX
    Throttle Cable: amzn.to/357l2Dm
    Kick down Cable: amzn.to/38uyraK
    Watch the install video: • Edelbrock Pro Flo 4 In...
    00:00 - Introduction
    01:02 - How I wired up the Pro Flo 4
    01:26 - Where I put the ECU for the Pro Flo 4
    02:06 - How I ran the wires through the engine bay
    02:47 - How things are running
    03:02 - Fuel Pressure regulator placement
    03:29 - Running along the fuel rail
    03:57 - Vacuum line routing from the throttle body
    This system has been awesome for me. I've loved it and haven't had a problem with it. Electronic Fuel Injection systems can be tricking to route through the engine bay, so here I show how I routed the wiring and where I put the ECU.

    Run mine now for a year and it is an awesome system!!!!! One warning though!!
    Buy a really good fuel regulator for at least $200 or more!!
    I bought a cheaper $100 unit and broke after a year and heard several had same issue.
    Most cheap ones are just a big "chunk" of billet aluminum with really poor internal material.

    I'm considering going with an MSD coil near plug ignition. The system allows many configurations for timing control of your launch from rev limiters to rpm controlled timing and time controlled timing for wheel spin control at launch. I can set it up for timing retard of 10* at about 1 second from launch hold timing there till around 2 seconds and then ramp timing back in to all in timing at around 3.5 seconds from launch... I would also like to run the pro flow 4 EFI. Does the software for the pro flow4 have this kind of feature? I wonder if the two systems will function together...I would think they would since they both fire sequentially...???

    Hey John, if you begin to have any fuel pressure issues I noticed that you mentioned you ran from tank to the regulator then to the rail for the supply to the throttle body. Unless something has changed (which is I presume possible) the routing is typically ran directly from the tank to fuel rail and then to regulator and then back to tank. This insures a constant fuel pressure at the throttle body rather than pre-regulating the pressure before the throttle body which can lead to fluctuations in fuel pressure at the throttle body. Maybe it's changed though or you've figure out a better way. Either way I always truly appreciate your videos and thanks for offering to help on my MSD Atomic EFI. Many Blessings from Thompson's Station TN

    Are you using a deadhead or a bypass fuel pressure regulator? I think that with a returnless fuel system EFI you must run a deadhead fuel pressure regulator between the fuel pump output and the fuel injector rails inlet; and with a return fuel system EFI ( as yours), you must run a bypass fuel pressure regulator between the fuel injector rails outlet and the fuel tank return inlet. By the way, in most bypass fuel pressure regulators, the regulator outlet to the return line is the bottom one.

      I'm not sure, but the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator, I think it also goes to a MAP sensor. It seems like the vacuum line to the brake booster is the one that split to the automatic transmission modulator.

      @timbjork2098 Před 4 lety +1

      Well I saw 2 diffrent t fitting i think you said the bigger t fitting went to the transmission and brake booster and transmission. The smaller one went to regulator and not sure. It looks like the vacuum hose out the front of the intake went to the lifter cover.

      You totally can, but the connectors are so big it would require either cutting the firewall to make a larger opening, or cutting the wires and splicing them back together. I chose the easy route of mounting it in the engine bay

    • @redneckgearheadgarage495
      @redneckgearheadgarage495 Před 4 lety +7

      Do not cut the wires. For a few bucks you can get the tools to unpin the connector, pull the wires through a smaller hole/grommet then repin.

    • @NashvilleEarlyBronco
      @NashvilleEarlyBronco  Před 2 lety

      I didn’t buy the fuel pump that Edlebrock recommends. It was a fuel pump I had from my previous EFI. So I wanted to make sure I had the correct PSI running to the fuel rails.

  • @bartholomewroberts8493

    mine gave me problems right from the first time trying to start it. would not idle and once i got it running had to keep it at 3000 rpm to keep it going. then it mysteriously started running like it should. ive put maybe 75 miles on it, now it's back to wont run unless kept at 3000 rpm. sent the ecu to edelbrock got it back still the same. going to put the carb back on to prove to edelbrock it's not the engine. ( which is fresh rebuild and running perfect before the pf4 was installed) im going to put it on a test stand to
    make it easier to figure out where the problem is. bottom line i should have kept the carb and spent the $2000 else where plus
    all the time wasted trying to get through to tech and trying find the problem. for the record, if i find its my fault i will post and admit faults

    • @NashvilleEarlyBronco

      They just run differently. Edelbrock controls the pump from a ground switch, FiTech controls from the power side. Plus the FiTech runs more amps.

      Have the PF4 on my 360 Ramcharger 4x4, Eddy heads, mild cam etc. The PF4 intake is a Victor Jr, it's power range is 3500 to 7000+. Idle to 3000 is pretty soft, certainly softer than my previous setup. Had an Eddy Performer RPM fed by the 34 year old factory 2bbl TBI with a stock tune. The PF4 is soggier at low rpm. Edelbrock tech guy tried to tell me that runner size and length has no effect on torque with EFI, which of course is complete bullshit. I also find the tuning options and data availability a bit limited. Sometimes they make things too simple.

    Why does the fuel regulator need vacuum? I installed the proflo 4 xt multiport on my sbc and it feels kind of sluggish car just isn’t getting the power it should and I don’t where to turn for advice any ideas?

    • @NashvilleEarlyBronco
      @NashvilleEarlyBronco  Před 4 lety +1

      The vacuum helps tell the fuel pressure regulator where the throttle is. For example at wide open throttle, without the vacuum, the fuel pressure regulator won’t know to increase the fuel pressure.

I have the Edelbrock 3606 Fuel Injection System version one system on my 1969 Bronco. It came with a sump pump that regulates the fuel pressure which made it a very clean install.
