  • Rod Authority Editor, Dave Cruikshank, heads to the Danchuk Manufacturing headquarters in Santa Ana, California, to check out Edelbrock's new Pro-Flo 4 EFI System just installed on their newly updated 1957 Chevy display car. There are a few things that stand out with the Pro-Flo 4 system. First off, Edelbrock has more than 40 applications for this product, so no matter the engine manufacturer or style, chances are you can utilize the Pro-Flo.
    The system is truly impressive. It starts with the intake manifold which has integrated fuel rails. From there, Edelbrock gives you everything you will need to complete the install including the wiring harness, sensors, gaskets, ECU, and even a billet distributor which works in unison with the fuel delivery. Last, but not least, the Edelbrock gurus distilled a cumbersome laptop tuning setup into an easy-to-handle, Android tablet that interfaces with the EFI system with no wires or fuss, inside or outside the car.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH. I AM SO IMPRESSED WITH THIS PRODUCT. SO SIMPLE AND USER-FRIENDLY. WITH THE HIGH COST OF GAS. EFI IS THE WAY TO GO. YOUR PERFORMANCE AND ECONOMY ALL IN ONE APPLICATION. SOMETHING TO CONSIDER. EDELBROCK DID THEIR HOMEWORK. AND IT SHOWS.

    For a street to a mild performance engine, this seems to be a great system! In this arena Edelbrock shines. For a full race engine the ignition mapping still requires a laptop driven program. But, that is the extreme. I see this as a great way for hot rodders to make the change from carb to digital controls.

    Can't wait until I see a small block Mopar running one of these systems. The majority of videos on CZcams with the Pro Flo 4 is typically illustrating the install on either a Ford or Chevy. Not one single small block Mopar video with the Pro Flo 4. Although, there's a guy on the B Body forums running it on his 440 and he loves it. If Edelbrock needs a test mule, I'll volunteer my Duster. ;)

    I'm thinking of getting an Edelbrock 35770 for the 400 SBC in my classic Nova. I've "heard" a rumpity camshaft can play havoc on this system? Mine is a .227/.233 @ .050 duration, with a .560/.560 lift, and a 110 lobe separation angle.

      Damn good question.

    • @moparproud3978
      @moparproud3978 Před 4 lety +2

      Why would it work any worse towing? Your engine makes x amount of power and torque, at y rpm. Whether carb, factory EFI, or aftermarket EFI, those don’t change much. If you make 300hp and 450 torque on a carb, you make pretty much the same with EFI. Your truck unloaded doesn’t run any different than loaded; it doesn’t sense “oh I’m towing now, I have to run different”🙄

      Yes its says in the video. Open and closed loop

    • @wickedgriptuning7623
      @wickedgriptuning7623 Před 4 lety +1

      No 02 input is actually open loop, not closed loop. Most vehicles run in open loop during cold start (02 sensor isn't warm enough yet to accurately measure) and under wide open throttle. Either way, no computer controlled fuel injection system is going to run well without a way to measure fuel input and make necessary corrections. If you were running in open loop all the time, it would take an immense amount of up-front tuning to setup all of your maps for varying air temperatures/altitude/coolant temps/etc. All of these things change how much fuel you need to inject. Why would you want a system with no 02 sensor anyway? Leaded fuel?

    • @davegerrard6857

      The latest software update has enabled the use of forced induction, so you can now use this system with a turbo or centrifugal supercharger. You just have to increase the size of your injectors and install a higher range MAP sensor, which they also sell. I'm personally hoping they eventually make a nitrous update, but I don't see that happening considering there isn't an auxiliary wire in the harness to activate a timing retard function. Oh well.

    Sadly China told most politicians that they wont do any business with underdeveloped countries that still allow CO2 emitting traffic, aircrafts or industry after 2030...I am sure USA and UK also will be forced by China to 100% electric traffic because today no industrialized country can afford sanctions by China....:-( China also banned all kind of synthetic fuels or hydrogen combustion. Because these are not energy efficient)
