Bran's Coma Dream: What Game of Thrones Did Not Show You! - A Song of Ice and Fire (End Game Theory)

- Welcome back for another A Song of Ice and Fire video. Today I am breaking down another one of my favorite chapters from the book, A Game of Thrones. After Bran Stark was pushed from the tower window by Jaime Lannister, he was left crippled, and in a coma. Right before he wakes up, he is visited by the Three-Eyed Crow, while he's in a dream. What he is told, and the things he is shown will change his life forever, but what does it all mean? Could any of these reveal how Game of Thrones will end? Bran is able to see everything! He can see the entire realm, and everyone in it. Bran can see Asshai by the Shadow, with dragons stirring under the sunrise. He can see Jon Snow at the Wall, sleeping alone in his bed. The thing that interests me the most is what Bran sees beyond the Wall, in the heart of winter. Bran Stark is shown a thousand other greenseers, impaled upon ice spears, but what does this mean? All of these images terrifies him, but the crow tells him this is why he must live, but Bran doesn't understand. The Three-Eyed Crow then tells Bran, Winter is coming. These are the words of House Stark. They have been saying them ever since the beginning of the story, and I happen to believe it was originally a warning, about the threat that lurks beyond the Wall, the Others. The Starks and the White Walkers have had a strange connection dating all the way back to the Age of Heroes, and I think the secrets, or mysteries surrounding their relationship will continue to unravel as Bran Stark spends more time with Bloodraven in his cave, but let me know what you think. Leave your comments down below. Thank you for watching the video!

This video must've taken a lot of effort and time, not only to narrate but also to type. Many thanks. It was very informative, and I enjoyed it, as I do all of your videos.
Thank you for this video and the recent one (31/05/2019) that lead me to it. You have managed to make sense of Bran becoming king and eased our anger about how the show ended (but not about how quickly it got there). I will definitely re-read the books and now thanks to you and other You Tubers, I will be able to pick up on things I missed the first time :o)
Most GOT streamers are out of ideas. I like that you read right from the book on Bran. I listened to it all.
Thank you for watching it all
Lol, I can't stop laughing at that joke
I was so shocked when I first saw that scene when Jamie pushed Bran out of the tower. I cannot wait until Jamie and Bran see each other this season.
He looked in the heart of winter, and saw dragonglass. The ice spears that came at him, that impaled the other dreamers were THROWN by white walkers to keep the other dreamers quiet about their amassing army, but Bran was a successful flyer, and the Prince that was promised. They can enter his dream state,so makes sense he'd be a target.
@Connie Super
That happens in the HBO series, not the books.
Oh my gosh. That was so good! I just started reading the first book and just finished that chapter! Then I decided to go online and see if I could find any other thoughts on this. 5 minutes later you post this!!!! Crazy coincidence!!!! I love it!🤗
Awesome!!
every decision u made in ur life led u to read this phrase
Could someone please tell the names of the books that Game of Thrones is based on? I have seen every season of the show but still don't know the title of the books. I know that the name of the author but that's it.
Patricia Toler, The series is called A Song of ice and Fire. Volume 1 is A Game of Thrones, 2 is A Clash of Kings, 3 is A Storm of Swords, 4 is A feast for Crows, 5 is A Dance with Dragons, 6 and 7 are as yet unpublished but will be named The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring.
Same.. after watching the finale episode
I love these longer vids you never fill with fluff it’s like this is a documentary and I appreciate it so much. You make my lunch break that much better.
Thank you, Devin. I really appreciate. These videos do take a very long time to make. It's nice to know people appreciate them.
This channel keeping me hyped as always
Great! Thanks for coming back.
Your videos truly make my day! Thanks for posting!

LOL so true Jon's always getting saved
LOL
Sorry Daenerys but it looks like Jon Snow is the Princess that was promised.
The plot armour is strong with this one 😀
@@Khaleesi_Of_NZ LOL
Do one about the Dire Wolves. I've always thought the names given to the Wolves were premonition of the future... Lady is because that is what Sansa will become, a Lady. Summer is what Bran will help bring back, he will be the key for summer coming back. Nymeria was a warrior, so will be Arya. Grey wind is because Robb would make trouble but as a wind he would pass by. Ghost because Jon would be like a ghost (kind of what I think he will become once brought back from death)... Shaggy dog is not exactly clear for me why
Because in the book Rickon isn't dead, he is on the island Skagos, and I imagine he is shaggy, rough, and wild, he is described in the book as having the wild Stark blood, he is going to be a force to reckon with in the books I believe, hence the Shaggydog, or Shaggy Wolf, and I think you are spot on with everything you wrote, awesome observation, I never thought of it that way!
U r excellent 👏🏻
Rickon and Shaggy dog might be a red herring. In storytelling a shaggy dog story is a long convoluted story that ends pointlessly without consequences to the rest of the story that lead up to the end. So I think shaggy dog foreshadows absolutely nothing and Rickon's story is inconsequential like the name shady dog implies.
Kayne Sovereign I was thinking of writing the same thing just now.
Nerd stylee !
"dragons stirred beneath the sunrise" could refer to Dany calling Drogo her Stars and Sun... She didn't always call him that, but he "rose up" in her life to become very important. Without the loss of Drogo and his "sunset," Dany would not have her dragons.
It can also refer to that event when quaithe keeps riddling Daenerys telling her to go to Asshai you will find the truth there. Maybe there are more dragons or dragon eggs in Asshai which will help in the final battle against the night king.
Damn! This was a deep video. Awesome Job! Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks Ray!
This was freaking outstanding. Loved it. And the art was beautiful. It has been so long since I read the first book and this was a great refresher. Thank you 😊
Nothing better than coming home to a new Talking Thrones video!!!!! Off season delight.

Really enjoyed this. One of your best videos yet!
8 more months!!
Also this channel makes even more hyped for S8. Thank you TT.
This is another fantastic video! I was sad that this coma dream wasn't shown on the GOT show. It is tragic, in a huge way, that something this mightily heavy, is put upon a small boy, and terrifies him in his dream. That always broke my heart a little. But, I think you are squarely on the deeper meaning for this dream. Ps-I love listening to you read.
TamHutchins me to, this is my favorite GOT subscription!
Great video! Really enjoy your insight. The only way to make it through this long wait!
Your longer videos are so good, keep it up!
Excellent . Love when you read the chapter and explain hidden meanings.
Love these videos, been watching for some months now and decided to subscribe, awesome work bro, keep them coming 👌🏼
Thanks, Dylan!
Man your videos feed my itch during this long night make sure and keep it up when the show ends do videos about the prequels thoughts and ideas if you have any on how the long night will play out I would love to hear them
I enjoy your videos but, I believe this is where alot of people get confused. They are trying to combine the show and the books to figure out the conclusion, but the show and books are going to end completely different. They are separate stories now and the books are way more complicated.
That wasn't my reason for making the video though. This is to show what was left out of the show. Also, Winter is coming was lifted from the books, so I think my theory on what the words mean fit either format. (Books/Show).
Nope, both will end in the same fashion. The progression of the stories in the evolution of the main characters in the TV show, still match the books. The book version of Tyrion will eventually become an advisor to Danny, even if his path in the book will have many more turns. Jon and Danny will get together and Cersei will become the queen in KL. While the TV characters in the books will go through more numerous and slower transformations, the eventual destination for each of them, will be identical.
@@lestarys6098 you're really high if you think the books are going for that route, specially when GRRM already said it won't end the same way.
He never said that the TV and books will have a different ending, although he did say the two are different. We have the seven major characters, Danny, Jon, Tyrion, Bran, Arya, Sansa* and Cersei alive in the Tv show and in the books. The NK has not been introduced in the books yet. Sansa storyline in the books has been relatively smaller and she might be more of a supporting major characters.
We don't know all of the divergences, the answer is read the books.
Excellent work. Makes you also think about how long Brynden had been looking for the One! How many could not or refused to “fly”.
Keep on doing the damn thing! 👍🏾 👑
Sounds like thousands have attempted, but they've all died trying. They're all impaled upon those ice spears in the heart of winter.
Talking Thrones makes me think that maybe the beings in the cave were using their powers to keep the Others at bay. Brynden May have been called and now his powers were exhausting. Leaf’s words of sadness about her race and her journey (ADWD). How she says Brynden existing long beyond his life’ span “For us, for you and the realms of men”.
Question: Is the cave and its inhabitants “the first wall”? (The Oath) The Others are on the move. Had the hunt for the last greenseer been of The utmost importance because their end was near?
Fantastic video as always. What a spectacular writer Martin is. His choice of words is so visual, so poetic, so engaging. For me he is a true modern day Tolkien

Yup
The Night King name is "Winter". This is why the say "Winter is coming".
And "He looked at Winter's heart" he meant the Night King Heart literally, because his name is "Winter".
ninasan that what I thought before. But, recently I believe in that the Night King name is "Winter Stark" and he is the first stark. And Winterfell is his born place named after him, much like King's Landing is where is the king throne is and named Landing because the king land there on the back of his dragon.
ninasan furthermore, look at clues and hints. As Zoe Kouf mentioned Summer was Brian's wolf. Moreover "He looked deep into the heart of winter" winter as season doesn't have a heart and doesn't have a depth. Also at north they refer to winter season as the Long Night, because it is always winter there. So "Winter is coming" must refer to a person named "Winter" not a season. And if they are referring to the season, they would say "Long Night is coming" and not Winter. But they forgot that it is his name and why they kept saying it, to remind themselves that he is coming.
where u wanna be The Heart of something means the center point of that thing. But he looked "to the curtain of light at the end of the world, and then beyond that curtain. He looked deep into the heart of winter". So he passed the center and he is looking into the heart of something or someone named "Winter".
Unfortunately, I didn't read the books. But may be he will be in the last book when everything is revealed.
To add more, I never heard a Stark saying "The winter is coming", but they always say "Winter is coming" as if they are referring to a person.
Secondly, The Old Nany, told tales or stories of The Long Night and not tales or stories of the winter.
The books have the Night's King, and the show has the Night King. That one, little 's has launched all sorts of speculation over whether the two characters are meant to be the same person, if there has ever actually been more than one Night King, et cetera....along with all sorts of other tinfoil hat theories. We do know that the show's writers had been given important information related to story's end game right from the beginning, but is generally unknown whether the Night King as we kind of know him on the show will be in the books or if he is a show-only creation.
Fascinating chapter and insight into Bran’s destiny. Great analysis!
Great video as always many thanks to give us a way of the interpretation of this very long night
Thank you Cathy
This was awesome!! I totally forgot about the dream, thanks for this 😃
Wow, this video is huge!! I really love how thorough and precise you are when you analyse the books! I think those videos are my absolute favourites! Keep doing that, I love thinking about theories, foreshadowing sentences and assumptions! As if George Martin had left some easter eggs in a giant video games and we were the players trying to crack the codes and riddles to level up!
This has so much information in it and it's so f-ing creepy. I remember reading it and thinking Bran whatever happens don't follow your visions to wherever they want you to go. It's a shame that he couldn't have had this vision before Ned left for KL maybe they could have avoided so much tragedy but then again all of this was already going to happen. If Jamie had never pushed him the entire world would have died. It's really easy to imagine that this could have started out as The King of Winter is coming but over time it was shortened to Winter is coming. Much like hold the door became Holdor. Makes you wonder about other house words.
+Shani Malfoy Snowgaryen It's "Hodor" not "holdor" just thought I'd mention that little fact.
@@RedRoseSeptember22 How about I should mention the fact that I've got a 20 month old and didn't have time to go back and check it. Yes I know it's Hodor book reader and show watcher right here. I also don't have time to troll people's comments for correct spelling since you certainly do please feel free to correct everybody else.
Wish I could like twice!
Anyone have thoughts on my theory??
@@freshflyflossyIt could be possible but a slim possibility. I think that the reason the mad king went mad was either BloodRaven tried to change the future once he became the 3ER which is why he warned Bran from trying to change the past or if the theory of Bran being the 3ER from the past holds any weight then he's continuously trying to change the future with no success thus far.
Your videos make my day!!! Thanks so much ☺️😁
Great! I'm glad you like them. Thanks!
One of your best videos yet
Thanks Alan
I am thinking about the Wight walkers will Hordo be brought back to confront Bran The Night King may try to use him to get to Bran?
I love that chapter too and also wish it was in the show, so powerful!
Absolutely! It would have looked so cool as a dream sequence.
Thank you for doing these readings!
Awesome...nice explanation about every details
Thanks for a brilliant upload. ✌️❄️🔥
it's funny but every times I read that chapter, I never think of Jaime with the passage "another was armored like the sun, golden and beautiful". I always thought it was too easy, since it is already said in the same chapter and we know for a fact that the first time it is Jaime that's described. Plus, if the "armored like the sun" is about Jaime too, then, it would mean that the golden lion is named twice in those vision, that would make him the only character in that vision that Bran think about more than once... Despite the fact that the 3 eyed raven told him to forget about him, why would he think about him again ?
Actually, I always thought like you that the first part is about the past, Jaime pushing him, then the present in winterfell. But from then, my thoughts are different.
I believe that from the moment his vision leaves Winterfell where he is, the vision also leave the present to go to the future from the part with Cat. I think that Bran see his mother in the present, but then with the storm it shift to the future and since that storm is "roaring", it definitely foreshadow the Lannister.
For me the part "he saw his father pleading with the king, his face etched with grief" is either about the dispute between Ned and Robert concerning the assassination ordered of Daeny and Ned remembering and grieving Lyanna, or about Robert death bed scene.
Then "Sansa crying herself to sleep at night" would be about the time they arrested Ned and killed all of the Winterfell men, when Sansa was kept in her chamber, not knowing what was happening at the red keep.
"Arya watching in silence and holding her secrets hard in her heart" speak to my heart of that scene with Arya leaning on the Statue and watching her father "trial". And then her fleeing Kings Landing, lying about who and what she is and making her kill list.
And then the Shadows part... I agree with you about Sandor and Gregor, but following my train of thought, we are in the future, after Ned death, when Jaime is not in Kings Landing. Reading that part, "Another, armoured like the sun, beautiful and golden", I always, always thought of Oberyn Martell. Armoured like the Sun = Dorne Sigil, golden is the colour gisven to Oberyn Skin several times around, and he is always described as beautiful.
To me, this part of the vision is ALL about Gregor Clegan becoming Robert Strong... first, describing Sandor, burned by his big brother when he was a child, then describing Oberyn Killed by the mountain in combat... And the lives of those two men was fractured by the same person : "Over them both loomed a giant in armor made of stone". But Oberyn Poisonned that giant, so it isn't the Brutal gregor who burned the hound anymore, it isn't either the mountain who killed Oberyn. No, from that point, that "person" disappeared. So "when he opened his helmet..." ... All the passage is about the transformation of Gregor for me.
From then on, I'm back with you ^^
That was awesome! I have to agree that it seems odd Jamie is mentioned twice. I thought of oberyn as well. Good job!
The roaring storm that Lady Catelyn encountered was an actual literal storm in the books that had Sir Rodrick retching over the side of the ship. Ned was actually pleading with Robert on the matter of killing Sansa's direwolf. Don't know about the rest though.
I think this also means that Jamie will be part of Clegene bowl so maybe for a small part of the battle it will be Jaime and the Hound fighting the Mountain together
Thank you for the video TT ^_^ I know Bran is very important when we finally get to see the last season of GoT. We'll have to see!!!
Hey TT ... Great to see ya pop up on my notifications bro ...

Thank you very much.
Great video. You always make me rethink my own theories or the theories the show alludes too. Who won your last contest? I must of missed it.
The contest ends in a few hours. The name will be announced in the next video. I had the date wrong last time I said it. My bad. You'll find out in a day or two.
Absolutely well read. Thank you for another Talking Thrones.
This was an awesome video. Thank you. Listening a second time.
Thanks, Carole!!

Keep up the good work! I️ love checking these out!
That very last sentence tells you lots
“All you have to do is FLY “
Either he is going to fly a living dragon or he is going to warg the dead dragon and that will kill the night king
Or, it could simply be a red herring and a reference to his ability to time travel
I've always expected Bran will skin change into a dragon. Hopefully it's Viserion.
He will time travel and becaome a night king
..cross. intoys He
My sentiments exactly
as always thanks we learn a bit more at each of your tellings
As a Bran intended pun: > time flies < watching your videos man! Good work!
This video has been on my mind all day. I think when Bran seen his father & sisters, it was a future foreshadowing. Ned, tried to plead with the king (joffery) for his life & his daughters safety. After he was killed, Sansa spent a long time being tormented & Arya had to keep her secret(that she was not a boy) in order to survive.
That said, what if Jon Turing pale & cold at the wall is him becoming the next night king?
Very very interesting way to look at this. I like your idea too. Thanks for that.
that was forshadowing when Jon died
Janet Owen could be. I just have a weird imagination.
Joanna Tester --I love your take on it, tho I thought more of how alone Jon looked in his first death, stabbed so thoroughly that his heart is pierced. Still gets me his paleness almost to blue😰
Sleeping alone because Dani is dead too...
Best video of Ice and Fire ever!!! Because Bran is my favourite character and my favourite chapters is Bran ones!!! Please make more videos about Bran chapters!
I like how you integrate a lot of the book details into your clips. It certainly paints a fuller picture, but the show doesn't do as much.
Seriously great stuff!
I think you have this 100% correct...Love these chapter reviews!!!!

Great info, helps clarify things. GoT has so much to offer and those angry fans are overlooking the full depth of this story.

It makes me wonder if a group of you got together, could you write stories of a world where connections between each thread is both logical and creative.
Thank you - for as Grey Wolf intimates - helping us make it through the long night of waiting for the next book/ season.
Wish D&D thought of this

So good! My favorite chapter in Book 1! It’s not even close
TT, thanks for a whole year of anticipation, while waiting for the final season. You've made the wait bareable. Who loves you Baby!
Another good video! Very hard for me to decide which I like better, the show or the books...
Your videos are just like watching new episode's of the show, they should have included this chapter in the show
Thanks, Johnny.. I wish they did show it as well.
I believe your interpretation is right on. I hope next season shows more of Bran’s visions in detail and not gloss over them.

This was on point to Season 8 Ep 2
Still makes me cry. Beautiful chapter
This was a very indepth video, Three eyes raven was pretty brutal with the fly or die threath
I've officially decided that when I finally start reading the books I'm gonna use headphones and listen to this track the entire time, it just fits the entire story so damn well. Also kinda reminds me of Skyrim so...
Thank for the reading!
Your videos are so good! Its like when I was a child and my mother told me tales. I am afraid that the show will be underwhelming compared to your videos.
The storm Bran sees represented a real storm that Lady Stark’s ship encounters on their way to Kingslanding. Bran saw the storm coming. The stone Giant is Littlefinger, not my original thought but I heard it before and agree that it’s him. But other than that great read as always.
This may have convinced me to look into the books.
More videos like this please... I “fly” when you read the book ..
4:40 "Forget that" I didn't think about it when I read this chapter, it seemed to be important, but the books have so many details it's hard to tell which one is more important, but it seems that the three-eyed raven didn't want Bran to remember Jaime, in that moment, the thing is that even if he remembered it wouldn't make much difference, perhaps Robb would have Jaime killed, but I doubt it, they already thought that the lannisters did it to him, so it wouldn't make much difference, it would only confirm, but it would also make Tyrion innocent, Catelyn only caught the wrong Lannister. Maybe the three-eyed raven didn't want Bran to have any bias against Jaime, so now that he is the three-eyed-raven, he can understand it all better with no hate against Jaime, because he is not just Bran anymore.
That's a different way to look at it. You might be right about that. Thanks for the input.
you need to narrate the audiobooks... seriously. amazing
No no no.... Correction... Or I'm wrong: there is a storm when Lady Cathlyn Stark is in the boat and Ser Rodrick gets hit by the extreme wind and is throne overboard... It is mentioned in the later chapter of Cat... It can also be metaphor but is literarl too....
And you do a great job and I think do very hard work.... Thank you for making my time greate... again....
I love the intro with Little Finger, I have on repeat.
