The Secret Land is a 1948 American documentary film about an American expedition code-named "Operation High Jump" to explore Antarctica. It won the Academy Award for Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
Operation Highjump (OpHjp), officially titled The United States Navy Antarctic Developments Program, 1946-1947, was a United States Navy operation organized by Rear Admiral Richard E. Byrd Jr., USN (Ret), Officer in Charge, Task Force 68, and led by Rear Admiral Richard H. Cruzen, USN, Commanding Officer, Task Force 68. Operation Highjump commenced 26 August 1946 and ended in late February 1947. Task Force 68 included 4,700 men, 13 ships, and multiple aircraft. The primary mission of Operation Highjump was to establish the Antarctic research base Little America IV. The Western Group of ships reached the Marquesas Islands on December 12, 1946, whereupon the Henderson and Cacapon set up weather monitoring stations. By the 24th, the Currituck had begun launching aircraft on reconnaissance missions.
The Eastern Group of ships reached Peter I Island in late December 1946.
On January 1, 1947, LCDR Thompson and Chief Petty Officer Dixon utilized "Jack Browne" masks and DESCO Oxygen rebreathers to log the first dive by Americans under the Antarctic.[4] Paul Allman Siple, PhD was the senior U.S. War Department representative on the expedition. Dr. Siple was the same Eagle Scout who accompanied Admiral Byrd on the previous Byrd Antarctic expeditions.
On December 30, 1946, aviation radiomen Wendell K. Hendersin, Fredrick W. Williams, and Ensign Maxwell A. Lopez were killed when their PBM Mariner George 1 crashed during a blizzard. The surviving six crewmembers, including Aviation Radioman James H. Robbins and co-pilot William Kearns, were rescued 13 days later. A plaque was later erected at the McMurdo Station research base, honoring the three killed crewmen.
In December 2004, an attempt was made to locate the remains of the plane. There are ongoing efforts to repatriate the bodies of the three men killed in the crash. Killed airman Maxwell A. Lopez had a mountain named in his honour after his death, Mount Lopez on Thurston Island.
Additionally, Vance N. Woodall died during a "ship unloading accident" sometime after December 30, 1946. In a crew profile, deckman Edward Beardsley described his worst memory as "when Seaman Vance Woodall died on the Ross Ice Shelf under a piece of roller equipment designed to "pave" the ice to build an airstrip."
Father William Menster served as chaplain during the expedition, and in a service in 1947 he consecrated Antarctica.
The Central Group of ships reached the Bay of Whales on January 15, 1947, where they constructed temporary runways along the glaciers, in a base dubbed Little America IV.
Naval ships and personnel were withdrawn back to the United States in late February 1947 and the expedition was terminated, due to the early approach of winter and worsening weather conditions.
After the operation ended, a follow-up Operation Windmill returned to the area, in order to provide ground-truthing to the aerial photography of Highjump.
A highly controversial German documentary: UFO - Technology Secrets and the Third Reich. suggests at the end of the hour-long film, that the real reason for the High Jump expedition was to seek out a secret German UFO station still operating in the Antarctic.

Admiral Byrd was my second wife's great uncle.His book "Alone"tells of him spending a winter by himself in an ice shack that almost killed him.A great read .He was a remarkable man to say the least.

I live in Jacksonville Florida and on the local news site I go to for information there is a Big article about a gentleman who just turned 100 and he celebrated here in town. I believe he lives an hour and half or so from Jacksonville. Anyway what blew my mind is the gentleman served under admiral Byrd and was on the voyage to the South Pole that was operation High-jump. He’s still alive and seems very sharp and in good health. He is the last surviving person who has first hand knowledge of the mission. I was blown away when I read that. His answers would not be heresay, he can offer direct factual information. I wrote his name down and I know the city he lives in. I’m thinking about writing him and offer him an opportunity to tell his story, if he doesn’t I would just have to be respectfully disappointed..His memories could change history and change the way mankind looks at the Earth. I’m fascinated by the potential opportunity to gain corroborating information.

Great to see and hear Admirals Byrd, Cruzen and Nimitz and Secretary Forrestal in particular. I could never understand the US Navy's rush to Antarctica so soon after the War. Forrestal would have recorded his piece of footage either before or immediately after his participation at Operation Crossroads at Bikini Atoll in July 1946.
We had to make sure Germany was completely defeated and that we got all the murders(I mean scientists)to come to our side..

The guy at the beginning mention that Antarctica is bigger than the United States and all of Europe. Looking at Google maps and then other maps that do have it on there. It takes up a hige chunk, so much so,its often cut off and would make the map look weird as maps are 2 D. This means, of all the images you do see render or take that shows Antarctica surrounded by water, chances are,its actually about 3x larger than pictured. That......mind blowing. There are photos and documents about military bases in Antarctica from England, Australia, Russia, USA, etc.
There are old maps that show Antarctica WITHOUT ice and with other dimensions.
There are other stories (such as that of the Mason Verne) that reaffirm all this.
And finally there is the Antarctic Treaty of 1957 and signed by more than 50 countries that PROHIBIT poking their noses at any civilian, association o government OUTSIDE this military treaty.
THEREFORE, THERE ARE MILITARY BASES IN ANTARCTICA.

They say we're going into polar shift but, this won't be the first time. So, in some time in the past they shifted to where they are now Anatartica must have been closer to the equater meaning life would have existed and potentially thriving until the slow process of the shift put Antarctica where it is now. Why wouldn't there potentially be life still in some form exist? Wouldn't it be possible that some people were able to adapt and evolve? Just like whales and walruses and penguins? These animals have evolved to the climate. Antarctica at one time could have been the life center of the world and whole populations of people began migrating north.

The more I looked into Antarctica the more I realized we know nothing about what is going on there.
Finding actual detailed images and satellite imagery is difficult. Ive seen some good videos on CZcams.
But at end of day, Antarctica might as well be space or any end of the world as only the powers to be have access
