I have studied many wars during my lifetime. Whether the US involvement in Vietnam was the “right” decision will always be debated. Napalm / incendiary bombs were used by the US against Nazi Germany and Japan, often with devastating results. Cities like Hamburg, Tokyo and many others were reduced to rubble with massive civilian casualties. Certainly, the US and allied objective during WW II was bringing the war to an end as soon as possible, and civilian casualties were an unfortunate consequence. In Vietnam, like Hamas in Gaza today, the VC infiltrated many villages / homes / facilities and used innocent civilians as human shields. Given this situation, what was the US supposed to do?

Having grown up in the area and having left as soon as I could, I can tell you that Cleveland just has too many things working against it… The all but vanished industrial base, the racial tension and resentment that led to the white flight to name a few… And don’t forget that God-awful dreary winter that seems to go on for nine months… I can remember as a child, the entire month of June being wrecked by lousy weather… So in that sense, no matter what they do to improve it most likely won’t work… People have moved on, and for good reason, leaving their friends and relatives back there to defend it for the rest of their lives😂😂😂

My first real job was working as (basically) a Messenger for a large health insurance company. This was just at the introduction of computers on every desk, but before the internet. My job involved a lot of photocopying, fetch printouts from the gigantic laser printers in the print department in the basement, and seemingly endless internal mail envelopes. Amazing that now, many of the jobs depicted have been replaced by Word and Excel. These days you can do 100 times the volume of work, but it’s still equally tedious.
