- In this how to service video I am servicing my 2015 FJ-09. It will be almost identical for Yamaha's MT-09, FZ-09, and Tracer 900 motorcycles. Systems serviced or checked include: tires, brakes, suspension, chain, controls, cooling system, electrical system, air filter change, lights, horn, and oil change. This is the same service I perform on all my new purchases to ensure they are safe to ride out on the road! Let's get to work!

Not to make an argument but shouldn't the oil level be between the upper and lower marks? I totally agree with you, Yamaha's recommended chain slack is way too tight.
Great question! Just like in a car, I fill the oil to the upper mark when I change the oil. That way, if there is a minor leak or if the bike burns a little oil, the level will still be in the safe zone. Cheers!

Heck you might get just a touch better gas mileage after changing that air cleaner. Looks like the air density/ flow/ temp sensors are mounted right on the air box above the filter ? Anyhow, the Yamaha engineer who designed that air filter change procedure , must have been thinking too hard :) But, that is Not uncommon on todays modern bikes, compared to ones back in the '70's and '80's, as you well know. Good overview of basic maintenance though, could be quite helpful to a new owner who sees this.
