People like him who know how to grow and cook will be the most important one of these days.
This is the life!! You even showed cooking it. Not many videos are like this. I enjoyed the content. Thanks for sharing.
👍
I had never seen an episode of 'Gardening with Greg' before, believe it or not but will be looking for them now!i appreciate your good old common sense approach!Thank you.Blessings of Bounty and May Your Gardens and your Life always Bring You Joy , Inspiration and Abundance!" - Hope
Unfortunately, he has been busy working in the warehouse this year and hasn't had a chance to make videos lately.
Great video Greg!! It shows the full cycle of what your company stands for. Cultivate, seed, drip tape (water), fertilize ... and eat! Love it.
Nothing better than eating fresh food from the garden! Thanks for watching Laura!
Brother you sure do make me hungry!!! That's the life ain't it? Appreciate you!!
Growing your own food and eating it under a shade tree is definitely the life!
Great. You just made me realize I didn't plant enough squash.
Haha! We'll be planting another round soon. We can succession plant them until July, when the squash bug pressure gets too bad.
We are def enjoying the Goldprize squash here!!
Good stuff! It's been our most productive variety so far this year.
My squash aren't ready quite yet, but looking forward to some skillet squash and a fresh tomato sandwich
We'll be planting more soon to continue the succession. That way we hopefully have fresh squash throughout the summer.
Thanks Greg for making me hungry lol, the golden delight zucchini is one of my favorite summer squash
It's been one of our go-to varieties for several years now.
Next to okra this is my favorite veggies!
Greg is the BEST!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the recipe cant wait to try it
It's an easy but good one!
Great looking garden. Great video thanks for making me hungry.
Thanks! Those fried squash are absolutely tasty!
Liked the Arkansas Toothpick paring knife. Looks like a very useful kitchen tool.
Oh yeah!
@@gardeningwithhoss not an Arkansas toothpick knife- it is a drop point hunter-may be a medium Bowie. couldn't tell if it had a bolster. I am a better knife maker than I am gardener.
Great video Greg!!!!!
Thanks Duane! That was a quite tasty lunch!
Squash looking good Greg, Now that's worth eat-in right their.
Fit to eat indeed!
I’ve never liked squash but that probably because it was always in a casserole. Now fried squash is something I could really enjoy.
We can get plum sick from eating fried squash and fried green tomatoes!
I like your small paring knife 👍
Summer whaaat!
That is good!!! Love it
Thanks Marck!
I love those golden zucchini too!
Good stuff!
you do awsome videos teach ur pup Travis
Thanks Robert1
I haven't had fried squash in ages. I will now this season 🍽🍽🍽🍽🍽
It's not good for you to eat it all the time, but it is great to have every now and then.
I will have to give them a try . We planted 9 varieties this year to see what we like . What we don't eat the chickens and goats will love . lol
We have a few that get missed during harvesting and end up getting too big to eat. The chickens love them though!
Well mine is a few weeks away...but u got me craving them now
Won't be long!
Candy squash is so good and easy to make. First spray your crock pot with cooking spray.
Put a stick of butter in your crock pot, turn it on high so the butter will begin to melt.
Have your yellow squash washed off, ends removed and I usually cut each squash in half lengthwise and chunk it into the crock pot. Fill the crock pot as full as possible.
DO NOT add any water!
Put the lid on and walk away. After an hour or so stir the squash, sprinkle a bit of salt over the squash...Put the lid on and walk away...again!
When 2 and 1/2 hours have passed, open the crock pot stir, then use your potato masher to mash up some of the larger pieces. Now add four pieces of Kraft American cheese to the squash and stir to mix it into your wonderful candy squash. NOW, you can taste...and adjust the salt if more is needed. You can add a bit of black pepper if you choose.
I accidentally discovered this delight, when my husband brought a bunch of squash in from his garden. I did not have time to watch a pot on the stove, which I always scorched anyway.
I will never cook stewed squash again. Candy squash is scrumptious!!!
Might have to try that. Sounds pretty tasty!
I want you to know Greg that I got up off the couch this morning, went and got some squash.
This is the famous randy! Hey Randy hope you really did get some squash and aren’t fantasizing Greg’s harvesting for you getting squash!! 🤣🤣🤣
Well Randy, it's good to hear you finally got something accomplished. We're so proud of you. We'll give you a free sucker next time you stop by the shop.
Love some fried squash, peanut oil has the BEST flavor. I see what Travis was talking about last night, looks like those cucumber vines are creeping toward your squash pants.
We always like to skirt the lines of how many rows we can fit into a garden space.
You crack me up!! Couldn't you find a bigger knife? LOL!! My son does not like vegetables, so it's taken all of my ingenuity to make sure he gets plenty. I put zucchini in spaghetti sauce and chili - He didn't know he was eating squash until he turned 30! I love squash fried up in peanut oil, just like you did it - SO good!
It is so good! Thanks for watching Carol!
Greg that's pretty sorry cooking in front of us in Oklahoma we just now planted our summer squash. Boy that looks good.
Haha! He ought to be ashamed of himself!
Garden looks great and man was my mouth watering at that dish you need a bigger paring knife though
Can't ever have too much knife!
You know how to do it Greg! Do you boys have any issues with the Squash Vine borers?
We can't grow squash in August or September. Those and the squash bugs get too bad then. But we can usually get several crops before then.
Got my fix ,great info thanks Greg
They look healthy what type fertilizer do you put on them
He's been using the 20-20-20 in the garden sprayer with the tip removed.
Dang I should have gotten some of those last week with my seed order.. Never had Yellow Zucchini..
We've been growing them for several years now -- a great variety to add to the squash patch!
Lol love your "small" pairing knife. Not sure I wanna see what you consider large lol.
We use a sword for the big jobs. Haha!
@Greg, how close are these plants together?
Mine are pretty close together and I was hoping not to have to remove some. mine are about a foot apart, I wanted to make sure to get a good yield and make sure I had enough come up.
Plant 1 foot apart
Your corn in the background is looks around four feet plus tall already. When did you plant it? We finally got us a decent two days of rain in SE Georgia.
Around the middle of March when this video was posted: czcams.com/video/raA9IQllZ2Y/video.html
Small paring knife 😂😂 More like a machete! Your squash looks yummy 😋
Haha! The camera always adds 10 lbs -- so they say.
what do you do about vine bores ?

Can summer squash and cherokee tan pumpkins be planted next to each other or would cross containmantion be a issue?
Yes they can because they are different species of Cucurbit.
Aloha cuz did you ever heard of this variety hyodan summer squash, let me know if you know about it, I just planted one we got for home deport so far growing real good, well mahalo for your time aloha
Never heard of it, but we will check it out!
@@gardeningwithhoss well cuz did you check it out yet the hyodan squash, how long going take you toooo check it out cuz I'm 68 no like maki die before I know , is it determinate or indeterminate, life span etc, well I hope your not a procrastinator aloha am still waiting I will give it couple of days then I will pull the rip cord and bale out, I'm still trying tooo find out from others no pressure, if not I will grow cucumbers smile
Can the golden delights be grown in the fall here in north east Florida
Sure. Plant them in September and you should be good.
@@gardeningwithhoss will do thanks
I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a paring knife that small 😕
The camera adds 10 pounds. Haha.
@@gardeningwithhoss 😅
🤣🤣🤣 small paring knife and takes out his Bowie knife!!!
Greg has a bit of a knife fetish, so his concept of a "small paring knife" may be a little bit skewed.
try kethup bro
Ketchup is not a bad option at all -- good on everything!
Greg , is the golden pride mosaic resistance ?
It has excellent disease resistance, but would not say it is mosaic resistance.
@@gardeningwithhoss thanks greg
Do you have a seed catalog to send out?
Our catalog includes only a small subset of our seed varieties, because we can only fit so much into a catalog. Our website has everything. Here's a link where you can request a catalog: hosstools.com/request-a-catalog/
Can you plant seeds for Zucchini in August
It depend where you are and your first frost date.
How far apart should they be planted?
We do 2 feet in row spacing with rows 4-5' apart.
@@gardeningwithhoss thanks for the info
How many square feet of garden do you have?
Greg and Travis both have gardens that are broken into small, approximately 30 x 30 subplots. That makes crop rotation and garden management so much easier. Greg has about 7 subplots and Travis has 10. In total, they each have about 10,000 sq. ft of garden each.
What is cavenders?
Cavender's Greek Seasoning is a blend of herbs and spices - it makes things yummy. I get it at the Winn-Dixie here in town.
It's good stuff. That's what it is!
2 and 1/2 hours is the total cooking time on high.
Wow. That's a long time!
Well, my plants don't ever look like those... ever! I planted the seeds I got from you guys, and they are putting on fruit, but they are no where as beautiful as the plants you have... clearly you are cheating! :)
Haha! No cheating here. But that chicken manure compost is some good stuff!
I noticed your soul is different then travis soil
Greg's is much more sandy.
Greg you must get delight in making people suffer to eat fried squash.
It's such a terrible thing! Thanks for watching.
Dude, if that's your small paring knife, your chef's knife won't fit in the drawer.
Haha. We keep our knives in leather sheaths around here!
You aint country if you dont like fried squash!
