Ah Johnny Clegg I remember him in the 80s in the UK the song that struck me the most was umbaqanga music but I loved the energy rhythms and Johnny's dance moves, so sad to learn of his passing I've been catching up on his life and music in recent months. What an incredible man. RIP Johnny

Johnny Clegg is such a kind, wise and humble man. I enjoyed his music, growing up in Zimbabwe. It was a pleasure to see him live in Phoenix a few years ago. It's nice to see him doing so well with his health challenges. God bless him. His life and his work has been a blessing on this earth.

My Mom died 3 weeks from diagnosed with pancreatic cancer being clean a month prior. Truly an outlier, but he was an outlier in everything. Remarkable man.

We played the crossing at the memorial for my son Mark who died at 17 in 2005. It was a terribly sad but joyous memorial with south africans from every culture joining to remember his beautiful life. Such a special song. Thank you Johnny!

He looks so much better than he did in August. Very nice interview. I watch Johnny's video of The Crossing, and then the tribute version that Jesse helped put together. Very emotional, both of them. An amazing singer-songwriter. A real treasure. I was blessed to see him in our small concert hall in Eugene, Oregon both times he came through the area. Energizing and wonderful shows, both times, and that while he was recovering. The man has heart. Slainté, Johnny Clegg!

The most profound thing Johnny said here, was "Turn it into a crossover mix, which is unique to South Africa." THIS IS A BOMBSHELL!!! This is the melting pot idea, it is decried by many modern progressives, but if you separate culture in one geographic location, the result is conflict. In the name Johnny's memory, I pray for all the people of the world to embrace their neighbors, your internet clan is great, but the people who really matter are your community. If South Africa had gone melting pot after the end of apartheid they may be the greatest nation in the continent. They instead ended up with corrupt communists.
