Show me any other person who was a giant and as impactful on as many dimensions of the human story as Sir Johnny Clegg was. Hamba Kahle Legend.
Growing up in Algeria in the 70/80s, when I first heard and saw Johnny Clegg,I realised that there was hope for South Africa. Amazing artist and a top human being
Proud to say since 2018 at Wits University, Clegg's alma mater, I have been "Using Songs As Historical Sources" to teach African History and Johnny Clegg 's body of work especially Asimbonanga. What A Human Being uMuntu.
I'm 36ys old N since my childhood I've came across some of Mr Johnny Clegg, I've watched some documentaries about his backrounds, how he started singing and I was very touched by him at my young age. I was curious as well bcoz he had something different. I said to myself one day I will see him perform live on a stage which was quite unbelievable. In 2018 or 19 he was doing his world final tour N he came to Mauritius, I said to myself tsskk it's not 4 u its too expensive. God decided that I would b there. In the radio there was a competition price was 2 free ticket vip N I won it. I went, I had the best night concert ever. I've cried my make up was ruined but it's one of the best souvenir I will never 4forget ❤
So great for this to finally be released to the public!
What a wonderful man. So full of joy despite his experiences
What a man he was. Loved his music, admired his humanity, now, I love the man for what he still can be for the whole humanity. Salut , Johnny Clegg, merci d'avoir été .
J'envie d'y être allé !
salutations du Mexique
Johnny Clegg was one the greatest gifts to the World.!
we need more men like this...everywhere. I just miss him being alive.
Indeed a man who, through his passion for music and humanity, took giant steps for human nature at its best ! .... I honor you name in your memory !
What a world hero. He gives inspiration to the world. Who and where are these men today?
They are around everywhere, but not always noticeable because they eschew the limelight.
I’ve had the pleasure to see Johnny clegg and the savuca in Mauritius 🇲🇺
Johnny Clegg what a legend and such unique music
Awesome.... that's the magic of music.... and when you meet a great artist like Johnny Clegg... time flies
Oh brother. I will never forget everything you taught me❤
Did you personally know Johnny?/😊
I teach History - African, Cold War and South African - and I "Use Songs/ Music as Historical Sources". I taught at Wits University, Clegg's alma mater, for five years and bringing Johnny Clegg Songs, amongst many, has been a very overwhelming and enjoyable experience of _Decolonizing the teaching of African History_.
Mandela was imprisoned on Robben Island and Clegg and Savuka (Wake Up) produced a song, _Asimbonanga (Mandela)_ And the person Mandela was banned - a crime to mention write his name; but Clegg sung by mentioned this illegal word/name! Apartheid government banned this song! But it was released in the air! My students then and now SEE History with a new and respecting lenses. To quote James Baldwin "It is only in his music,...that the Negro in America has been able to tell his story." SIYABONGA Baba Johnny Clegg for your humanity. For your Songs. You live forever through them.
Thank you Johnny, RIP, you're greatly missed.
Not to criticize the host here, but this validates that Johnny Clegg was as great a teacher as a story teller. An honor to listen to one of the best examples of a Human. Being.
100% agree with your comment !
Profound. Imagine shunning privilege and embracing humanity in its entirety. Amazing narrative indeed
Thank you for this release.
I enjoyed this talk very much.
Only an extremely deep and concerned person can be capable of expressing himself with such joy and lightness.
His lightness is indeed the real key for tackling the many complex issues South Africa'been going through.
A man who sought to improve the lives of his fellow men;human beings with the abilities the Lord blest him with. Long live Johnny Clegg.
Thank you for sharing ❤.
Thank you for releasing this! Zichrono Livrocho
Enjoyed listening to a wonderful speaker, learned more about human' struggles far away.
Good intro. Proud Liberal Arts graduate here.
Thank you❤

I suppose there is a Johnny Clegg STATUE, where is it located ? ..., I like to visit him and pay respect to a Great Human Being !!!!! .... Saw him in concert in Paris at the "Human Rights Now" World Tour 1988.
I am from México and will travel anywhere to pay respect to this great activist, musician, singer, dancer, anthropologist.
South Africans should feel proud of Him !
c'est une merveille
RIP
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It took a English Man Yes Born In Bacup Rochdale United Kingdom To stand up to South African Apartheid
He would have hated this comment.
may i disagree with you (since i’ve lived in South Africa my whole life & know Johnny’s music and many of the musicians he performed with …) ?
or, like many on social media, are you hoping to hear your own opinions reflected back at you ?
Apartheid didn’t end because of one man - there were millions.
Also, Johnny’s birthplace was arbitrary. he said so many times himself. just as i was born in Namibia but came to South Africa when i was two years old … or Elon Musk was born in South Africa but behaves 100% like an American and therefore is 100% American.
Let’s not argue… maybe call Johnny a world citizen ?
Conversation?
Did South Africa become all you hoped for?
Sadly missed
Qhawe!
'Bout 08:05 for Johnny.
Listen to the language at 54.40 to 54.52.
Interesting how the whites who wanted their own land are called racists but the others weren't.
Le niveau intellectuel de ce Monsieur est trop élevé pour les jeunes "chanteurs" d'aujourd'hui qui ne savent ni chanter, ni écrire des chansons, ni composer des mélodies.
This lady’s gonna put me to sleep.
Johnny Clegg what a legend and such unique music
