I've been asking bank tellers for BIG Dollar coins (Ike Dollars) for over 3 years now. Most of the time they have no idea what I am talking about and sometimes I score some Eisenhower Silver Dollar Coins!
I figured it was time to FINALLY look through my Eisenhower (IKE) Dollar Coin Collection and see if I can find any of the more valuable varieties, especially in the non-silver years since I have so many of them...

I remember about a year ago when I found my grandma’s coin album and it had a 1971 S 40% silver Eisenhower dollar.

My father in law had 2 Ikes stashed away in a drawer. I examined them a couple months ago, and they were both 1971-D friendly eagle. He lived in Texas at the time, and I figure he got a couple Denver minted ones as soon as they were released, and stashed them away. Both uncirculated today with nice luster.

I know that they're not the most exciting, but Ike dollars have always been my favorites. I used to get them for Easter from my grandparents, now I give them to my daughter for the tooth fairy!

I actually never have seen Silver Ike's before so this was very interesting and I have about thirty or forty dollars worth to go through at my house so I'm going to look for varieties now because of your video. I went to this guys house for an Eisenhower dollar hunt this one time. It was an awesome hunt fo sho! You'd like him, cool guy hahaha
I have almost 900 Ike’s! I told my mom last year what to ask for at her bank and sure enough the first time she asked someone had just dropped off 22 full tubes of Ike’s. Then 2 weeks later the same person dropped off another 22 tubes. She got them all. Lol. Lots of varieties.
The silver Ike's (brown and blue packs) were for collectors. Amazing that they got into circulation.

Went to the bank yesterday. Ended with 14 Ikes 5 SBA 1 silver quarter 34 Rosie dimes and 1 Mercury.
Hey rob. Did you know banks can order ikes in bags of 1000 but ordering them every week will get them held at loomis/brinks/nf with the coins you drop so roughly once a month to allow them to return to the fed. also not all banks know how to order so shop arround and have a business account (I assume you would already have one)
These are absolutely my favorite of all the coins!!! I do the exact same thing at my banks, loved this video.

I bought a roll of Eisenhowers from a coin dealer that had just been sold to them the day before from an older lady. I took the roll home and they were all 1976 Bicentennial type 1's. Most of the Eisenhower dollars looked as if something at the mint smashed the Ikes during the process. The last Ike and all in uncirculated condition had the "Apollo Lunar Eagle" above the bell and the moon. This is the original Williams design for the Bicentennial Eisenhower dollar and only 2 are known to exist.

Finally. Today I went to an SEC bank for presidental dollars and got 2 bicentennial Ike's! Nearly uncirculated

SO far never have gotten an Ike yet when asking - one local bank said they get them once in a great while and usually from businesses. Some banks tell me they put them aside to send back to the Treasury.

Ike are some of the easiest things to get at banks that are my favorites! Went to the bank today, they had ikes, but they promised them to someone! Have you been coming to my bank Rob???!?!! Lol

My daughter is a bank teller. When Ikes come in she sets them aside and holds them for me to buy from the bank. So I get a couple Ike's a month that way.

I just started a book for ike dollars. No silver ones yet. Just a couple of clad ones.
I've been able to get a few but no varieties or silver from my bank but rarely do they have any. I have had silver in the loose half dollars though.
Ok so this geek here has an Ike Dansco... 😲 The 72 Type II is the only major one I need. Got all the rest including a Friendly Eagle variety!

Yes, I am going to say it: I LIKE IKE! I haven't grabbed any silver Ikes from the bank, but I still ask every time. Like when a couple of months ago, a teller told me that they had about 400 of them. I wish I could have gotten them all, but almost 1/2 ain't bad. Now to really look and see if there are any varieties.

I’d forgotten that these existed... hadn’t realized that any ever contained silver! I’m ignorant.
So if none of them are varieties then why does it appear that you're keeping in tubes anyway?
If I can get ike's, are they worth keeping no matter the year, or just keep silver and Varieties?
Yes, They are collectable. They may be worth double face if in good condition. '73 are NIFC's and from collector sets. They are just starting to get a collector following. So, if you can pick them up for face value, it may pay off in a few short years. As always. Do your research, then buy the coins.

@@RobWenzel84 Can't lose on that! They will be worth the dollar you paid. Ikes are gaining a collector base so who knows, they may grow in value in the coming years. They have begun to reach the 50 year old mark. That seems to be a magic number for coins being considered "old"

My fsvorite us coin is a silver proof ike 2nd fsvorite is a silver Ike third favorite is a clad proof ike haha
