- I've been asking bank tellers for BIG Dollar coins for nearly 2 years now. Most of the time they have no idea what I am talking about and sometimes I score BIG.
I figured it was time to FINALLY look through my massive Eisenhower (IKE) Dollar Coin Collection and get it sorted.
I'll be sorting from Silver to Clad, Proof Strikes and even Varieties, Type 1 and Type 2.

so I can ask my bank teller that I want Ik dollar coins and JFK half dollar coins I should get some? I know they have dollar coins(we need to replace $1&$2 dollar bills with dollar coins) and I want to have more dollar coins to keep and spend.

That is MOST of the time LOL - I have actually brought a few Clad ones in to my MAIN branches and said if you ever get these save them for me please!

I got a bank bag with $145 in large dollars and it had 2 Morgans and two peace dollars and a few proofs. The rest were clad. Paid just face value.

Eisenhower dollars are great-the size, the heft, the simplicity. Makes your stack feel very substantial. I recently scored a roll of silver proof Ikes for 130$ at my LCS
Not so great if you want to put them in a 2x2 flip.
Those proof Ikes are INSANELY beautiful. Those stacks of silver edges almost made me swoon. Lol

My papaw left me some coins when he died and one is a 1974 D Eisenhower and it’s one of my favorite in my collection

I went into my bank to make a deposit one time and I saw that the teller had 14 Ike dollars, so I bought them. Best part is I bought the for face value and sold them on eBay for much more.
I love Ike's! I get them for face value at my lcs. I already have over $1500 worth-lol.
I actually had a kid buy some gum with a 1977-D Ike dollar last week! It was somewhat dinged up, but I still swapped a dollar bill for it at the end of the night!

Last year my Credit Union had 646 Ikes. Had to get them. WOW, That puts me over 3000 now. If you carry one with you when you go to the bank, to show them what you're looking for, you wont get the "deer in the headlight look" it really helps.

Hey Rob, just an FYI - did you know that type 1 bicentennial ikes were struck in 1975. Type 2 was struck in 1976. Both are bicentennial. But that's how you tell what year the bicentennial were struck, cuz there is no 1975 ike.

Theyre worth more than face value. I have 6 of them in my small collection
Went to my bank today. They had some, 9 in fact. So I bought them all. MFW 8 of 9 were Small letter Bicentennials from Denver. Oh well, I needed a reverse for my book. The other was a 1971-D and I needed that, too. Turned the ones I didn't need (plus a bunch of searched nickels) into a box of pennies. There's at least one wheatie. #ItsAGoodDay

Damn if you found all those silver ones at the bank your lucky. I have phenomenal luck when it comes to finding silver halfs but Ike's I have not found one I haven't even found a proof and I've ran through several hundred dollars worth

I finally found $80 in Ike's today there was one incredible 1971 that looks brand new and a lot of other almost uncirculated. I haven't found any s's or silver ones yet but there's many banks other towns I haven't checked yet💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰

I literally just picked up a 1972 Philadelphia raised die in pretty decent shape at a quick trip gas station tonight !!! And I believe you were saying 1972 has two varieties but it actually has three

Only one type is worth anything, that is Type 2.

How the heck have you found this many silver proof Ike's? The majority must be from one score. You do amazing with silver, people in Texas must not collect coins very much... here in Michigan everyone does!
33 were from one grab and another 21 from another which is almost half of them.

Rob I've been told that the 76 type1 are ones minted in 1975 while type 2 are minted in 1976. Have you heard of that

Hey Rob, outside a corner mkt a man approached me, ask if I could help him out?? He shows me two tubes of Ike dollars. Ummmm. Not being sure that they were even real. I ask how much? 40 bucks. Long story short - Without looking at them - I took them.
Got home and there were 25 in each tube. Thinking they could be stolen? I went back to the store and ask about the man. 99% sure they weren’t stolen. BUT. I noticed when u picked up your 78? The top of the 2X2 has opened. I can’t find any 2X2’s that fit the Ike’s. I’ve ordered several. Anyone have any luck finding a good fit? Thanks. Love your videos

Rob why did you start coin collecting
The big, chunky, and even by the 70s, badly outdated (in terms of size and vending machines) Ike dollars are a coin collectors dream now. Even though they flopped at the time: they weren't popular with the public at all, right?
