    Ike Silver dollar is the most underappreciated and under Valued US Silver/Clad Dollar $$. What shame, the Ike has such a beautiful display of US History (One of the greatest Generals in US History & the 11 Apollo Lunar landing). They are Soo beautiful I will never sell mine small collection. Great Video 🙂🙂

    I learn something new with each of your videos. I was completely in the dark about the varieties in this series. Years ago I bought what I thought was going to be 100 silver dollars, but when I actually saw them it was two Morgan's, and 98 circulated Ike's. I paid for the Morgan's, and face for the rest. Afterwards every time I ate out, or had coffee with friends I'd always leave a couple Ike dollars. A lot of servers had no idea what they were. They were almost always amazed. Hopefully I planted a small seed to interest a few of them in collecting.

      Linda Nelson I buy clad Ikes and put them back into circulation just like you. Had a couple cashiers claim they weren’t money. Also use my silver Ikes as poker chips when playing cards with my kids.

    Ike's are some of my favorite b/c when I was a kid, I dreamed of the days when people could get this large of a coin. then in 71 they started making a large coin again. I used to love getting these at the bank. As always, people did not want a dollar coin for daily commerce, so they did not circulate well. But they are a fun coin. personally, and ironic, my favorites are the Daniel Carr overstirkes you can get on eBay every once in awhile. As a kid I dreamed I found a 1975 Ike dollar, and now I own an overstrike that is as close to the real deal as you could get.

    Thank you! I had never heard of the website, "The Ike Group," before. I was collecting, Morgans, Mercury Dimes, some Morgans, Peace, and then years ago I found these Eisenhower Dollars, and started collecting several "Brown Ikes." Now, I know you can get technical like you are showing to make money, yet to me this is one of the most beautiful coins there is at a reasonable price. To other collectors, if you have no Eisenhower Dollars, then buy a few Brown Ikes, and see what you think.

    Excellent overview of Ikes. They were my first collectable coins as a kid, especially loved them since I didn't grow up in America. This brings me back to hours of fun when in hanabada days(young ’un) I learned about the known varieties then and followed discoveries over the years. Makes getting older sort of worthwhile:LOL! Time maybe to dig out the old Ikes and get them a good new hanabada home. Another great video.

    My late father-in-law had a couple 1971-D Ikes. I think he got them in 1971 as a novelty as soon as they were available, because only the earliest 1971-Ds included that reverse. I took a look at them a couple months ago, and they were both the Friendly Eagle variety. Both pretty good looking with clean fields.

    Ikes have definitely caught my interest. Unlike Morgans, Peace Dollars and other older types, collecting the more modern Ike Dollar (the last big hefty U.S. dollar that was in general circulation) seems to be within grasp for an average guy with modest means. I can imagine the wonder that Ikes will generate on the faces of those that come a couple of generations from now. Thanks for the referenced resources!

    Ikes were never loved by the public. Big heavy coins with no intrinsic silver value. But, the silver versions are great. I love the proof Ikes they are a coin with some eye appeal. At least there was some relief on these coins still. Coins are bacially line art today, no sculpture left in them. Ikes may never get much respect, but it's a cheap series to start a kid on. It;s something they can achieve collecting the set, they can do it on a budget, and while they don't circulate, you can STILL get them at the banks for face value. I like 'em, but they aren't going to be much for collector value for some time to come.

    • @cloroxlavenderscent4307
      @cloroxlavenderscent4307 Před rokem

      @@CoinHELPu well it is silver, business strike means it's not a proof mirror finish. They were struck using 40% silver planchettes. About 4 million proofs and 6 million in business strike. I understand the confusion. I was surprised when I found it amount 15 other ike dollars. The coin you showed in the video the s/s 1971 silver Ike is the same coin I've got. Except mine doesn't have a repunched mintmark. Also its a dollar coin, not a half dollar. You may be confused on that. The halves stopped in 1970 but no Ike dollar was minted in 1970 and certainly none for circulation. The one I have most definitely came out of a set of coins or a blue Ike package.

      @@CoinHELPu yeah I understand. I also found two 40% halves, a 1967 and a 1969 D half. Sure would be nice to find a 1970 half but I highly doubt that will happen. I'm getting about $50 more in halves tomorrow, I'm hoping for some 90%, cause you can't give those %40 away. No one ever bids on them at eBay. I've sold %40 Kennedy's for less than spot value.

    I'm fairly new to collecting. I purchased a bi-centennial silver proof Ike and was perplexed that the reeded edge had a hint of copper color, like a clad. Yet, it weighed the same as a 1971 proof silver S that I have which I know for a fact is silver. Is that common to find a '76 silver proof with a hint of copper on the edge? I'm really perplexed by this coin.
