ALL Proof Coins are 'Double Struck' to insure the highest relief. However, when there is rotation involved, then you have a coin worth money.
The missing Clad Layer 1971-D is not 'worn down'. Do to a compination of a light strike AND the missing clad layer, the coin could not be fully struck.

i have a few 1971 proofs that are sealed in box. they have a subtle cloud showing on Ike. looks like "glue" may have seeped. any idea? thx. great site.

Those friendly eagles are hard to tell the difference with worn down coins....but still fun to look for.

Is it common on these specific coins for the eagle and Eisenhower to be upside down to each other when coin is flipped laterally? If not common then how rare is this trait?

So I have a unique uncirculated 1971 Eisenhower with what looks like machine scoring across the reverse. Have you seen anything like that? Still in packaging from the mint.

@@couchcollectibles If the coin has been in clear packaging from the US Mint with a decal declaring it uncirculated and remains in the undamaged packaging and if it has what looks like machine scoring on the reverse side of the coin, is that a defect that makes it rare or simply damaged?

Regular circulated coins with no errors. Those are not the coins I'm talking about

I think my Eisenhower “tails side” is flipped the wrong way. The “heads side” is facing up and when I turn it over the “rails side” is facing down. Is the coin just like that or is it just mines?
