You picked one of the hardest coins to grade next to the Peace and Morgan dollars. My opinion is yours has way to many scratches and bag marks with some rim damage to be AU but this is where the grading really changes on most coins but these are allowed more marks due to their size. If these where half dollars they would be fine to extra fine with the rim issues and marks. I have had tons of coins graded by PCGS but do not get the Ike dollars or the other silver dollars graded unless they are MS-65 or better. You need to also remember the worst side is your grade not the best so that is also an issue here. In one of my last videos I show a rare PCGS doily holder coin a Carson City dollar 1883 and its graded MS-65-DM-PL which is a fantastic grade for a Carson City silver dollar. The doily holder was made for one month.
Thanks for the thorough response. I do think this is a tough coin to grade. At a minimum I think XF...XF+, but that's me and we all want our coins to grade as high as they can.. Not knowing how PCGS would go, like I said, I would list as an AU and say its my personal opinion and grade for yourself. From a PCGS pricing its not terribly different between XF and AU so I wouldn't be too bent out of shape for the $5 it might cost me. Thank you so much though for your comment and your thinking on this. I genuinely appreciate it.
I bought the whole book every coin Ms 65 and up I had Tim 40% silver 120 dollars for 38 coins
Nice
I have brown and blue sets of 1971, 1972 and 1973 Ike silver dollars. I can’t see the earth on for sure two of them. Type S. I was given them when I was born (1975), never opened the boxes until today to even look at them. Brilliant shine on all of them. I just don’t know what I need to look for. (Edited because I have to go and look again and which year came in blue, which I have in brown and at least (I think with barely earth outline) and it’s no mint mark).
I’m learning a lot today!
Thank you in advance.
I love all the info u give. Very helpful.
Thanks for watching!
Wow super cool! I randomly realized something looked odd about one of my Ikes. Found out it is a type 2!
Nice!
I was trying to collect proof sets with Eisenhowers but haven't gotten all yet. My bank never had any and I got tired of asking so I bought a proof set here and there & think I have 4 now plus two brown Ikes boxed. I kinda like the proof sets as the coins look nice even if the boxes are worn.
I liked it. Very informative
Glad you liked it
Good informational video. Love my Eisenhower dollars. Picked up 350$ at my local bank branch but haven’t had a chance to go their them yet.
$350 in Ikes? If so... WOW. I usually get them 1 or 2 at a time. That 36 I picked up the other day was the most I have ever gotten from 1 bank.
@@GASilverHunter yea I was surprised as well. But took them all.
I went through 150$ worth of ikes and found 2 types 2 varieties. Both were in a bout vf40 condition.
Nice. I have only found 1 or 2 ever.
Your video is very helpful I was looking for some helpful info cause I was lost
I bought a 1972 type 2 ms 65 pcgs on a slab from my lcs near
after watching a previous video now I saw the blurring islands on the planet it all match for a type 2 the lcs sold it to me for a hundred dollars
He wasn't there when I bought it but he gave the price over the phone to the person there who is her mother
I had doubts about the price but now I feel good about the coin
Even in a slab I was uncertain
But I know the guy he's a good guy
Good prices there
Glad I could help! The MS65 Type 2 can be quite valuable.
Does encasing 25 uncirculated 1972 Ike dollars in resin ruin their value? My mother made her sister wedding anniversary gift in 1972, she encased the aformention coins in resin to make a table for her.
Not sure. Would really depend on how the resin affects the metal or does the resin come off easily. 72 Ike dollars, unless 40% silver aren’t worth a whole lot anyway.
@@GASilverHunter thank you for your reply.
No Problem! :)
My Dad worked at a weaving company for yrs.and every yr.he would make the Lead Weaver and they would give him a slver dollar my Dad passed away and i have 10 1776 1976 ike dollar coins and 6 1972 ike coins and 2 1971 ike coins
Are any of the S minted silver ones?
Some have no mark, and some have D
So no silver there... only the S minted were made of 40% silver.
I a 1972 type 2, proof. In a plastic case and brown box.... is it worth anything?
Check eBay for pricing. Quick glance I saw the Brown Ikes going for $7 o $15. Didn't check for Type 1 vs Type 2 though.
@@GASilverHunter thanks for replying
That’s cool but funny I just got done doing a video on my Channel I’m going to post it tomorrow I used a Ike but it’s not what you would expect.Diamond Lou’s Fireworks on CZcams You have me going back to see what type it is what are you thanks for the video
Is it rare if the 1972 dollar has the Fg on both sides?
No. The design includes FG on Ike's neck as well as FG near the Eagle Tail feathers.
I have 3 pcs 1972 and 1 pc 1971. how to sell it?
Are they Proofs or just regular Ikes? If regular ones they are tough to sell outside of to a coin shop or on ebay. Also... unless in fantastic shape don't expect to get more than $1.10 to $2 a piece for them.
Aren't the Type One With the Big Blocky letters More Rare?... More Valuable?... Appreciate your Answer in Advance.. 👍🏼
The Type 2 1972 is the more valuable of the 3 types.
I found a 1972-s type two in a brown box. Its in perfect shape mirror finnish. Is it valuable
eBay says about $10-13 before shipping.
Not sure the S had a type 2 though.
@@GASilverHunterI have one for sure.
Could I send you a picture of my 1972 silver dollar with the rare marking on it?
Sure
Hi, I have a 1972 Eisenhower Type 1 Silver dollar 24.5g, in really good condition. All of the letters in the words ( UNITED STATES OF ) are double die struck, very clearly indeed.
The word AMERICA is normal and clear. Has anyone come across this before, yes it will be for sale once I find out a little more about this error. I will have photographs available soon. Any information will be appreciated.
Honestly we would all want to see pictures to comment on the coin.
@@GASilverHunter I’m going to send clear pictures to GA Silver hunter so all can see. I’m new to coin hunting my wonderful late father in law Terry left it in a plastic bag 15 years ago and I’ve only just looked at it. I don’t know why he kept it as he was not a collector, probably a souvenir from a family holiday in America.
I work at a bank when the presidential dollars came out i opened a roll and there was one in there that is completely blank do u happen to know anything about that? Ty for all ir freat info
Values are all over the place on this. Ebay has sold listings graded from PCGS in the $40-60 range. Don't see a lot of raw planchet sales... Google says its worth $10-$15.
Ike half dollar, o.k pal !!!
I do occasionally misspeak. It happens.
An Ike half dollar? Thought we were looking at Ike Dollar coins?
You are. It’s been awhile since I made this video but do remember miscalling it as a half dollar a few times. I hunt so many half dollars that’s what I had on the brain.
Mine is gold
Any value to this one
1972 gold Ike coin one dollar .
TIA
Most likely just gold plated. The mint (and other bullion dealers) will make this type of coin as a "collectors" item but they typically aren't worth that much. Quick search on the web, I found it for about $12 new in collectors case. If there is any wear on it, you can cut that value in half or more.
I hav a coin leberty head 1 dollor 1972
Sorry.. .nt sure what you are referring to. If its standard us currency the only dollar coin made back then was the Ike. If it's gold or a silver commemorative it could be something else.
How much is the top price?
Your question is really vague. What is the top price of what? This specific error... Ike dollars in general...?
I will upload a picture and send it to you
I have a type 2 Ike dollar no s mint mark coin
how much worth?
No idea. Is it in nice condition? Condition is everything. could be a $1... if you spent the money getting it graded and it came back MS65 it could be worth over $1800.
@@GASilverHunter mine is decently good condition
Me i ask how muc a value .
Most Ike Dollars are worth $1-$1.25. If you have the 1972 Type 2, depending on condition it can be worth $1.25-$10,000 depending on grade.
