    thanks for clearing it up and helping confirming it. time for a rebuild

    Massive thanks for this video! I bought a bike sight unseen many years ago "it runs perfect", had it trucked interstate, and it sounds like sand in bearings. Has great comp and very low use. Been sitting in spare bedroom for 10 years. Praying its just crank bearings! - thanks!!!👍

    you can totally hear it. another way to check if the the crank bearing is bad if you cant hear the engine run for one reason or another. is to bring the piston up to TDC, when the piston physically moves down stop. take a wood pencil unsharpened, thought the spark plug hole and see if you can push the piston down. mark the pencil when it touches the piston, then mark it when the piston moves and stops, make another mark. that will give you a good indication of the wear of the your bearings. I've looked at a lot of 2 stroke jet skis, and boats, and know you cant start them all before you have to make a decision on buying them. that and compression check will tell you all you need to know about a 2 stroker.

    Thanks so much. I have a 2019 r.e. himalayan with 6000 mi. While going 70 on the highway (not ridiculous speed for most 410cc) it started making this sound. The bike is now totaled unless I tear down the engine myself. Not likely. This is what you get when you buy a "cheap" royal enfield.

    Hi Kevin, an unrelated question. I saw on that bike the rubber spacers between the cooling fins of the head. I would have thought they would reduce airflow and cooling. They are on the kv100 s. Why are they there? Is it ok to remove them? Thanks

    • @2strokeguru
      @2strokeguru  Před 4 lety +2

      They are there to protect the fins yes they do restrict air flow and you can remove them

    Hello Kevin,
    Firstly I want to thank you for your videos. Great stuff!
    I am restoring a KS 125 from 1976 and you told on the video that Rotary valve 2 stroke engines must use oil pump for mixture.
    My question is, if I premix the gas myself, will the Engine fail?
    I was thinking on the possibility of disabling the oil pump and go for premix but now I am not so shure if it can be done.
    What do you think of it?

    • @2strokeguru
      @2strokeguru  Před 4 lety +2

      Premixing a rotary valve 2 stroke will cause engine damage Oiler Oiler lube rotary valve wich rides on a cushion of oil and lubricates right crankshaft bearing

      @@2strokeguru , thank you for the detailed explanation.
      I guess I will have to figure it out how to adjust the oil pump!
