Definitely the series. Even though Ross did s great job portraying young Dahmer. Evans was just much more dark and hunting. I can't forget. It was actually a bit too dark for me. I literally had nightmares. And i think considering the heinous crimes Dahmer committed that he (Evan) did a better job at portraying this dark and evil monster..
But again. It's not quite fair to compare, since Evan had more time. And also shoved the time were he killed most.
@@85stumpen same its been almost a week and i still dream about dahmer its scary asf
Monster shows what he did at the end with back story mixed in , My Friend is a story about a few yrs on Jeff in High School , kind of hard to compare them . and Yes I watched Both shows right after one another . so both are still very very very fresh in my mind .
The series love me some Evan peters
What I like about the Dahmer series is that it focuses on the victims. It's not just a Jeffrey Dahmer story. It remembers the victims and calls out how many times Dahmer could have been stopped if just one little thing had been done differently.
Yeah that was their goal, I was watching an interview with Evan about the show and thars ehat he said, they didn't want to glorify Dahmer and make him a hero they wanted to tell the story of the victims and the poor policing
Bro the victim's family did not want this show made. If the show actually cared about the victims, then it would not have been made at all
binge watched this whole series in a day , and i felt it was a perfect mix of jeffrey’s despicable acts and the normal and loving victims with innocent intentions.
Makes you go out into the world a bit cautious, as you should be
If it was all just focused on Dahmer, No normal person would feel that same thing
Yes, it shed the light on the police bias and racism, the fact thta those two cops completely got away with it and went on to be honored is sickenning, they desreve all the guilt and shame that's coming their way thanks to the series. and I hope they will be held acountable, although decades late
@@MotherNature43 too bad
It’s kinda unfair to compare both, Ross only played a specific point of time in dahmer’s life.
That's a fair point and I understand where you're coming for - he did do a great job at portraying Dahmer. As mentioned, when he incorporateed some of the darker elements of Dahmer at the end of the movie it was really convincing and showed that he does have the range and would have been able to have gone further if the movie went deeper into his life.
What’s unfair is that there’s a movie and a show about him
@@notdrew44 cry Pussi
Both portrayed his time in highschool. It doesn't matter if one focused more extensively on that particular moment. Both actors had to get into character for that period.
He said that in the first 30 seconds of his video
I feel like Ross plays a better Dahmer in his teenage years, while Evan does a phenomenal job during when he really became a sick monster
Nah Evan all the way
@@Jess-zk1sp heard about opinions??
Agreed. Evans is a bit more adult looking and seeing him as teen Jeff stalking the jogger in the bushes looked jaring. It looked like a far older Jeff in the bushes and seemed jarring.
Ross was the perfect teen Jeff and he looked like a teenager.
Evans is perfect as an adult Jeff.
@@scarletwarlock9325 He’s also giving his opinion ....
Absolutely agree
my friend dahmer was based on the comic his friend wrote abt him. It humanized him yes, but it was to show how ordinary and normal he was and how he developed into this monster.
Exactly
This
THIS. I’ve read the comic and I rlly liked it and watched the movie as well. It’s unfair to compare when both of them are being told from a different perspective
But was he ever normal? I don't believe he was ever normal
@@electronictrip he was slightly odd and a bit of an alcoh0lic in high school but he had a few friends and when the author of the book heard that someone at his school became a s3rial k1ll3r his first thought was not Jeffrey but other kids. So at least he didn't seem violent.
Evan Peters needs to get an Award for his acting!!
I genuinely hope he’s okay. After Heath Ledger, we need to give our support to people who play roles like this so it doesn’t consume them.
He was honestly average in this 🤷🏾♂️
Somehow I picture him as quicksilver in all his movies.

Evan hands down the better performance. He really steps into the character. His past experience with AHS has definitely helped him develop his amazing acting skills.
Yeah that's true!
He has an uncanny natural aptitude to play disturbing characters, probably nothing like how he is in real life. Makes you wonder how it effects him though
@@joshchapman4753 not just disturbing characters. Its almost any character that steps out of the usual pretty boy role. We only remember him for disturbing roles because its so different. He played a lot of different roles on ahs, not just disturbing characters.
Nah. I think Ross did a better job.

with everyone praising evan peters i think it’s important to point out that dahmer’s real life friend from high school who wrote the comics “my friend dahmer” was based on said he couldn’t even talk to ross while he was in costume cuz his resemblance to jeffrey and his mannerisms was chilling
Ikr I heard Ross was in character pretty much the whole time
I think My Friend Dahmer makes a good prologue to the Monster series
Yeah that’s a good way of putting it!
Yes, that’s a perfect way to put it, that’s how I told my friends about what the show was like. I told him that you didn’t have to watch the movie but its a good start if you want to dive down the rabbit hole of dahmer
On top of that, Ross and Evans look a lot alike. Remove the Childhood / Teen bits from the Evans series and it's a great unofficial sequel to "MY FRIEND DAHMER".
Honestly would be pretty cool if they made a serial killer universe! Maybe do a crossover or something..
@@JessicaGarcia-xf9wr you can't be serious
You can’t even compare the two. One had Dahmer in his teens. One has Dahmers whole life story.

@@tokki6085 Exactly. It's easy to criticize when you're an unknown....lol
Evan Peters and Netflix reincarnated Jeff Dahmer! Peters totally transformed into one of the most notorious criminals/ murderers in American History. This adaptation felt soooo real and uncomfortable to watch. It was riveting and transported everyone who watched back to 1981 - 1991. Brilliant and deserves numerous awards, especially Evan.
It's disrespectful to Peters to say REINCARNATED, as it probably took a lot of mental strain and toll on Evan to play such a horrific role, he was most likely scared of Dahmer and scared of himself after the comparisons people have made with each other.
Personally, i think Evan had a more empty look in his eyes, thereby overplaying the creepiness factor..An interesting quality that the real dahmer had was he looked more innocent, while Peters has a blank stare capturing a more typical type of serial killer.
To me the real Dahmer looked like someone you wouldn't want to wrestle with. Evan's version looked like he could be body slammed out a window.
This is too easy for him. Remember he played that mass murderer in the first installment of American Horror Story
@@reduXstereo lol
Ross' version was a perspective from the people who know Jeffrey personally. My friend Dahmer is a collection of diaries of people who wrote about Jeffrey.
I think most of them were fake or exaggerated.
@@ns1208 we’ll never know cause we don’t know the guy.
This show is exaggerated as well. Only profiting off of people’s trauma, and making the necessary embellishments to make the story seem more interesting. The show is far from a dedication to the victims, it’s defining their existences solely on how they ended
I like My Friend Dahmer because it seems more real and less exploitative. The movie was about Derf's complicated friendship with Dahmer. It is more down to earth and does not romanticize any aspects of his crimes, only showing his dissent into the mental state that would bring him there. It's also more scary because it doesn't portray Dahmer as an outright serial killer, but a weird classmate, which makes it even more terrifying when you look into the future and learn about the terrible crimes he committed. It's more scary because he could be any weird kid.
Exactly
Dahmer was in the beginning stages and no one seemed to really care or even notice they just thought he was weird
I can’t imagine what his classmates felt when they saw him on the news years later, they could’ve been one of his victims back then
it the only one the doesn’t fictionalize anything, the show changed to many things from the real events
I like the show more because it showed us and again and again reminded us throughout the series that the people dehmer killed were not just "victims", they were human beings and they were someone's son, brother, grandchild, dad, friend. The focus on the victims was a big W on this show. The movie was good but it kind of idolized the same "edgy kid cool" cliche. Too much attention on this sicko. People should know about the people who lost their lives
I don't understand how showing = romanticizing. That show wasn't romanticizing anything
@@sista363 yeah but they didn't ask for permission or even tell the victims families. My Friend Dahmer didn't show the victims so they did not have to be re traumatized by the movie, it was the writers own experience to tell. As much as I want more of these to tell victims stories, it isn't respectful at all if they can't get consent first
Evans portrayal is by far outstanding. It deserves an Emmy.
No replies?
I kind of like the way My Friend Dahmer did it, where it's not really about Jeffrey or his killings but rather his friend looking back and realizing how many chilling moments there were in retrospect. That being said m, the Netflix show is good too. I think someone who's into true crime should just watch the both of them.
Yeah , that’s pretty scary to know you went to school with a murderer and you most likely could’ve been one of their victims
Your most likely a kid
Ryan Murphy is willing to go the extra mile to make the really weird scenes and Evan Peters always goes through it and makes a perfect performance.
Evan deserves awards
I really enjoyed both Evan’s and Ross’s portrayals of Jeffrey. I like to think of the movie as an in-depth version of his teen years while the show explains his past and killings.
Apparently, what made Dhamer creepy to his real-life classmates was how unpredictable he was. He'd go from being quiet and observant to downing a bottle of Fireball Whiskey behind his school in the same day.
Interesting
Why would drinking whiskey behind the school be scary?
It wasn't fireball. Fireball didn't come out until the 80s.
I really liked both the movie and the series. I told all my friends to watch My Friend Dahmer before watching the Netflix series. The movie almost seems like it could be the first episode in the Dahmer series to lay the groundwork on Dahmers life before the murders.
The two playing Dahmer look so much ALIKE 😮
Evan deservers Oscar for that performance.
An Emmy, not an Oscar
Mmm he can’t, Emmy is like an Oscar but in series
@@luizasaavedra8109 Even better! 😁
Nuh he doesn't. A good actor accentuates, not imitates. The problem now is parody or mime.
@@pagliacci2942 That's your own opinion, like I have mine. A lot of people seem to share the same opinion as me.
Evan Peters did a fantastic job, worthy of an Emmy in my book. And it amazes me how the 2 actors that played Dahmer look so much alike, it’s crazy! … Pun Intended 😊
I found My Friend Dahmer after I watched the Netflix series. The only reason I started to watch MFD was because I saw Anne Heche was in it. I ended up thinking the acting was phenomenal and watched the whole thing. Anne Heche played Damer’s mother a lot differently, couldn’t decide if that was Heche’s personality coming through or the mother was really that frenetic. The way the actress played The mom in the Netflix show made her not seem that bad
the netflix made the mother look insane and terrible, what do you mean ?
The mother in the netflix show is terrible wdym
It’s only towards the last few episodes that she is “decent” she started to actually care after doing a shitty job at parenting and abusing drugs
My Friend Dahmer was a book written by Dahmer's high school classmate Derf Backderf. So yeah, it focuses on his high school years because that's all Backderf knew.
I’ve been looking for a video like this but couldn’t find one( until now ). Thanks for making the video!!
The series could be a sequel to the movie. Evan and Ross look alike.
Agreed 💯%
I am glad you said about the Neighbour as I thought that Jeff had a friendship with his neighbour. They used to sit to chat and have a sandwich together quite regularly. Until the smell coming from Jeff's apartment started to get questioned, which put a stop on their friendship.
I have watched all documentary's and films on Dahmer. I knew Evan Peter's would nail this role. This is also the first portrayal I have seen which his father confessed to having the same urges. I always felt sympathy for Lionel Dahmer. Yet Jeff's mother never seems to carry any of the blame.
Just finished the Monster series. I’ve never seen the movie. I don’t know how anyone could top Evan’s performance. I called it early on in the show that he will win an Emmy for this.
The movie is definitely worth a watch as you'll see similarities - it focuses a bit more on his high school years
why don't you watch the movie first then judge??
The movie focuses more on dahmer a teenage years and it’s based off of one of his classmates views
BP hit 100k, well deserved my friend 👏
Thank you! You've been a viewer of the channel for a LONG time so thanks for the support!
3:52 you mixed up the movie and tv show in this part, love the content btw :)
I’m a fan of both but I do think it’s unfair to compare the two as an actor. Evan Peters’ almost played the entire life of Dahmer, while Ross Lynch’s only played a certain point of Dahmer’s life and even from a colleague’s pov. If the movie/series itself, it’s still unfair to compare. But both actors are great for portraying Dahmer. 💯
Exactly
i literally searched for a video comparing these yesterday and couldnt find anything and then low and behold
Perfect timing!
Great video!! Thanks for the great content!
3:54 - the videos should be placed the other way around
Those glasses are iconic
Evan played this so well I had to take breaks to process that this was based on real events
Personally I love them both, Ross and Evan did amazing
They’re both talented AF, they’ve both been in so many amazing movies and tv shows, I think ‘my friend dahmer’ was one of Ross’s first dark roles so transitioning from Disney channel to this is amazing
To me with Ross and Evan it just shows they’re all around actors just give em a character and they got it in the bag
I like both version tbh. It's much better than the 2002 version.
The 2002 movie was made for Jeff groupies compared to these 2.

Seen both & for any that haven’t- watch the movie 1st. The movie was almost like a precursor to the series. Watching when it started; personality, etc in early years. The series didn’t need to include much as a result. I was a young adult horrified when a freezer was being carted out as “evidence”. Definitely had an impact😣
Evan delves more into the character aspect of Dahmer, he captured his creepiness and his monster, great job.
Not really comparable, because Ross was supposed to act as a weird kid and is based on stories of other kids from his school and Evan got to play Jeffrey Dahmer
@3:53 you confused the scenes, you put Ross Lynch as the TV series. But I liked the video 😊
Great vid, and I did make it to the end of the show and am right now having an issues eating beef 😅
I was cooking up some hamburger last night and all I could think about were some of those scenes in the show.
jeremy renner's portrayal as Dahmer in the 2002 "dahmer" movie is so underrated...he did a good job too..
He doesn’t look like dahmer tho
@@marsramirez9350 He's got slight resemblance...but his mannerisms, body language and voice were great though...he did a great job...especially in the final moments of the film...when he gives in to his darkness..
The nexflix show was so inaccurate it was ridiculous.
Not really when it comes to docu dramas
When I watched ‘my friend Dhamer’ already a while time. I liked so much, Ross made it so well. Now that I watched Monster in some parts I thought that it was the continuation of this movie. They look like twins, I love them.
Nice video. But editing mistake at 3:53 show and movie mixed up for a couple of slides.
Hey I really liked the video but I just wanted to point something out. In the accuracy and similarities when you compared the tv show and movie you mixed them up and put the tv show as movie and the movie as tv show. Again I really liked your video, have a nice day! :)
I subbed to those people
I haven’t seen the movie but in the Netflix series, the actor playing Jeffrey Dahmer was extremely genuine, eerily so. Also, I thought the actor who played Dhamer’s father in the Netflix series was also very genuine as were the victims, especially the actor who played the deaf guy episode 6. Great acting!
The neighbour in the Netflix series came off as a little forced to me but I think it was more the script and how it was written. Now that I have learned that her role was largely enhanced as she didn’t actually live next door to Dahmer, it makes more sense as the acting and script came across more like someone playing a role in a movie than watching a genuine character.
3:51 got the movie and the Netflix show mixed up, small mistake easy to make keep up the good work bro
Good video, but I noticed some weird errors such as at 3:54 where the movie side is actually the TV and vice versa.
They are both great in certain ways, my friend Dahmer is an origin story leading up to him picking up the hitch hiker. Dahmer, is a great culmination of everything tied together. They show the victims side in depth, especially episode 6, and they show Jeffrey’s disassociation to people grow and grow until one day he’s completely detached from actual reality. We got to watch Dahmer slowly break in the movie. The show was much more grisly and direct and really showed the viciousness inside of him. They both are great, I think the show was better overall. Evan peters made it feel like you were actually watching the real events take place, it was unsettling.

@@tengericsillag7865 how do they work ? lol
It was acting… the show was just profiting off of people’s trauma and defining their lives solely on how they ended. Evan Peter’s has nothing to recover from, if anything I’m praying for the families that had to put up with the making of this show, as they are actively against it.
@@flowerpot3787 literally just saw an interview he did … he did have to come out from that darkness, he said it HIMSELF LMAOOO, that’s literally the point of acting, putting yourself under the skin of, if not you’re just imitating, which its not the same LMAOOO
At 3:54 the comparison , u messed up the scenes and the titles a bit but all in all very good video
You should do the Netflix series vs Dahmer (2002)
I liked that Ross brought some humanity in Jeff
(edit:I’m not glorifying dahmer lmao. I like that Ross showed that yes, even though he did horrible things (“after” the movie), a great actor does not perform a 2D character of a monster. The movie My friend Dahmer was based more on a book that was written by Jeffrey Dahmer's friend from highschool. So it's supposed to paint more of a picture from the perspective of Dahmer's friend and how he knew of him during highschool.
Give Evan peters his flowers 💐 cause that performance disturbed me, something out of a nightmare
My Friend Dahmer was more concerned with the soul searching of the comic’s author through the way the narrative was framed. The way they encouraged Dahmer’s behaviour as mean-spirited kids was haunting him, and he thought a lot about whether he made things worse and seemed to have residual guilt. The scene in the mall where he realises that it has gone too far and isn’t funny anymore was especially eerie and was his own adolescent realisation of remorse for what cannot be undone. It serves a totally different purpose as a slow-paced and subtle examination of the turning points in Dahmer’s coming of age. A highly-focused snapshot of foreboding.
Glenda's potrayal was based more on Pamela Bass. she lived right opp his apartment door. and she ate one of his sandwiches.
It was an combination of BOTH women.
She didn't eat the sandwich

The movie is excellent, but it focuses on Dahmer's life leading up to the murders.
I watched the first episode just to check it out. Ended up staying up all night watching the whole thing.
I loved Ross as Dahmer in the 2017 movie when it came out, still do. However, Evans is something else. His portrayl is like watching Jeffrey himself. I have seen every footage available of Jeffrey Dahmer and watching the series feels like watching the real person (more attractive tho lol).
The series is a masterpiece ong
Even the series is the most accurate in the real life events but the actor on the movie who is Ross Lynch was so amazing in the role he portrayed it perfectly and his actions is like a real life weird Evan Peters And Ross Lynch For me is both iconic and Great Actors
just talking about the series; everything was so cleverly portrayed and it amazes me how the child actor looked so similar to evan and so i'd have to pause at certain parts because i'd see the child speaking as evans and i'd be like wow. thats insane how he became like that
I just finish watch both version awhile ago. And your right My Friend Dahmer was more focus on how he deal being high school and his home life and Monster the Jeffrey Dahmer Story is more focus on everything. His victims, how he got started, what set him off, the victims' families and the aftermath.
I would like to see you compare the Netflix series to Dahmer (2002), starring Jeremy Renner as Jeffrey Dahmer.
That movie was mid asf😂😂😂

Did anyone else notice that at 3:55 he has put Ross lynch in the tv series and Evan peters in the movie? 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Saw that too, lol.
Me three. Gotta fix that goof!
The Netflix show was everything I was hoping the movie would be tbh. I saw the trailer before I even saw the movie in theaters. So I knew what I was getting into. But the show just brings so much more to the table. And Even Peters performance was haunting to say the least 😬
The movie and the show were very incredibly similar childhood wise. Idk why you were expecting more from the movie when it was only his childhood 🥴
Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye in the MCU) played Jeffrey in a 2002 movie called Dahmer. Wouldn't that be a more appropriate movie to compare because My Friend Dahmer only focuses on his high-school years before he committed any murders?
Evan still outclassed Renner in acting
Ross is the best teen Dahmer but Evans is the best adult Dahmer. Both also look very similar.
If one removed the "teen Dahmer" segments from the Evans series, it would be a perfect sequel to Ross' movie.
Evans as Teen Dahmer is too jarring. Ross is far more believable as a cute, baby faced teen boy. Evans may look similar to Ross but he's more "rugged" and "grown" looking.
.
I'd love to see a fan made supercut using edited down versions of both...
* It starts with the childhood scenes from the Evans series.
* Then it becomes the Ross Lynch movie.
* Then the rest is the Evans series starting from early adulthood / army / Florida / Grandma to the end.
* Then we get the bit where Evan's Dahmer meets his maker via Christopher Scarver.
... it would be done in a way that makes it into a 2-3 hour movie.
.
If many scenes from from the Evans series are too murky and dark, they can be brightened and adjusted so it doesn't clash with the Ross film (depending on mood of course).
SOMEONE NEEDS TO MAKE THIS FAN EDIT! PLEASE! IT WOULD BE AWESOME!
I watched the movie on Friday night and I literally was sobbing. I was in tears. When Ross/Jeff said "I wish I had a best friend" I lost it. It hurt so bad because its so relatable. And yes I am aware Jeff was a real person and I am not saying what he did was okay. I just feel upset because the movie felt so relatable.
My friend "Dharma" the Dharma & Greg Docu-series 😂
in accuracy and similarities at 3:47 you switched the two.
The series was way way WAY better
Evan was superb. I like how this was told from the victims and their Families perspectives. It was important to highlight how this horrific series of murders impacted their lives. Great casting and acting.
I knew there was a time where Ross Lynch played Dahmer and when I turned on the Netflix show I was like "wait a second this isn't Ross Lynch." Turns out I had the wrong thing all along lol
my friend dahmer is more true considering it was created by his actual childhood friends, not some woke hollywood creator
The series was very accurate actually and way more convincing than the movie
the two different depictions, will complement each other. the Netflix show is the one that brings you the horror and disturb you even when the show is over.
Lmfao
Glenda in the series was all the neighbors mixed into 1. Named Glenda Cleveland because she had the most significant role in Dahmer’s life in real life.
Jeffry Dahmer Netflix Show also had a perfect timing in October (Halloween), and it is so prefect to be watching it in Halloween. Really fits in the Vibe.
I recommend both! My friend Dahmer gives u an insight n it's so sad! Great job by that actor Lynch! Then Netflix did a complete over view, so u c even more of how n why from all sides, again great actors, I didn't even realize that was Even Peters! As much as u might hate Dahmer like most serial killers we can't stop watching because u always want 2 know what happened 2 make them do the terrible things they have done!
Glenda Cleveland was placed where she was because they used her as an amalgamation of several people, such as herself, Pamela Bass, and others, to display the gravity of how serious the complaints were that went ignored by the police department.
The series focuses on the socioeconomic impact of Dahmer and who people actually were before they were forever memorialized as his “victim”.
The movie doesn’t do any of that.
Glenda just did not work for me.
I didn’t know Austin from Austin and Ally had played Dahmer, wild.
3:51 you switched them...lol!
They both did amazing in both movies
Agreed!
Ross Lynch killed it man ......
BRUH IS THAT AUSTIN MOON 😳😳
yall switched the tv series and the movie on the "waiting for the runner" part and "picking up steven" part.
both are very different points in dahmer's story
I mean it's obvious that Evan drugged, killed dismembered and ate this role but as alot has mentioned it's unfair to compare the MFD actor to Evans. Evans is a master at his craft especially when it comes to horror like roles.
Thank you for giving me spoiler warnings on real life events
