I've been searching for some sort of recipie for this forever! Thank you so much! I'm a complete scratch baker and I hate using the store bought stuff. Just made my day
Great video! You mentioned the different strengths of gelatin. Which one is your powder comparable to? Can't wait to try this out when you get it back in stock!!
+Kate's TNT Reasons why one may choose not to do that: They want a specific color that isn't made commercially. They don't have a specialty cake supply store near them. They are aware of the cost difference and may use a large amount regularly. They like to know what ingredients are going in the materials they use. As always, not every recipe or technique is for everyone. Glad we have so many people that have found this useful though. We're also happy to sell you the glitter. :) www.sweetwise.com.
+DonutKitten 316 You won't get the sheen affect that way. If you're going to go to the trouble of making your own glitter, it's best to get some professional gel colors.
Lavanya Jeewamaran You can use sheet gelatin, that's fine. Just check your conversion ratios and find out if you have silver, gold, or bronze gelatin sheets- they have different strengths.
Can you use veggie gel instead of gelatin- but I guess I should just go ahead and do it then report back huh? Also, does this glitter dissolve on buttercream? If so what's the time window please?
+Pati M I don't think the sheet pan would work, like it won't dry out well enough and then release, but I would love it if you would give it a try and report back! Paint it THIN!
Does the glitter effect is from the gelatin or from the "pearl sheen" (airbrush color)? ... can I exclude the airbrush color? will i still have a glitter effect ?
+Socket Seventy Yes and no- the sheen really adds to the glitter effect. It will be more dull without it, but you may find it acceptable. Give it a try- gelatin is pretty inexpensive. If you hate how it looks, you can go back and try again (even melt down what you have and add the sheen in later!).
Sweet A I live in America! We have lots of halal markets in the area but I have never looked for halal gelatin...I will next time I'm at the halal market..if not, I'm sure I can find some online. Thanks!
jamila warsame most of the videos I watched online include gelatin in the recipe :( try agar agar powder, it's seaweed gelatin, it should work the same...hopefully!
U know how ur meant to put this glitter on cakes, well i just eat it lyk that. Omg i took it 2 skl for food tech and while the teacher was talkin i was jus sittin there eating my glitter and my friend thought it was actual glitter so she got so scared. LOL xD
Rosemary flavor can be hard to find. I personally would infuse fresh rosemary into a liquid that is being used in the dessert. For instance, if you are making something like a pastry cream, I would rough chop some fresh rosemary and place it in some cream on the stove on very low heat for a few minutes, then remove and let it sit in there while it cools, and then strain it. Not enough heat to reduce the cream, but enough to infuse the flavor.
+Cezee Cupcakes There are lots of things you can "just buy", but in the name of making things yourself and saving a ton of money in the long run, or having a specialized color that isn't sold on the market, this is a great option.

I could just go to the store and buy edible glitter
It's a lot faster than waiting hours among hours of waiting for that to dry

+DonutKitten 316 You won't get the sheen affect that way. If you're going to go to the trouble of making your own glitter, it's best to get some professional gel colors.
Can u also use sugar
I LOVE GLITTER
What if you dont have the plastic sheets @SweetWise
Hi! This is a great video. I have a question, can I use any form of gelatin? Or must it be powder form?
Lavanya Jeewamaran You can use sheet gelatin, that's fine. Just check your conversion ratios and find out if you have silver, gold, or bronze gelatin sheets- they have different strengths.
Thanks :-)
if I add the pearl sheen to sugar to make a shiny edible glitter or can I add the pearl sheen to make the pretty chocolate? #helpmeplease
Can you use veggie gel instead of gelatin- but I guess I should just go ahead and do it then report back huh? Also, does this glitter dissolve on buttercream? If so what's the time window please?
tastes good
Can you store this ( how long?) and could you use the back of a sheet pan for setting? Thanks
+Pati M If stored DRY (not letting humidity seep in), it can be stored indefinitely.
+Pati M I don't think the sheet pan would work, like it won't dry out well enough and then release, but I would love it if you would give it a try and report back! Paint it THIN!
Hi I really!ly like this video but is there anything else you can use than a coffee grinder
+glitterkids love You could use a small sifter (the small ones actually tend to have smaller holes, which helps).
were do you buy this stuff
www.sweetwise.com
eey, what is that white think youused?.. is that really necesary? ina sclae from 1 to 10...how necesary is that?...
THANK YOU GOD!!!!!!
would it still look good if you didn't add the pearly stuff?
+Jennifer Leisl Not as much- it gives it the pearlescent, shiny look.
can i make this useing something else other then gelitan cause i dont eat gelitain
I guess you can try Agar Agar, but I haven't tested with that yet.
Can I sprinkle this on buttercream? I'm worried it might absorb into it?
+ladyonzlake You can- as long as it's not super wet buttercream.
could u plz do a video on how to make a gingerbread house some time
+glitterkids love Great idea- I think I will!
could this be replaced for disco dust decorating?
+Jessica Wilson If you sift/grind it fine enough, absolutely!
Is there something we can use instead of the pearl sheen
+Thaqi Roz You could probably use some pearl luster dust.
+Sweet Wise ok thank you
You should have finished grinding it and showed how it looked on cupcakes...I thought you were making glitter, im not sure I would try this method.
confetti!!!!
can the sheen be used alone without the color for just a sparkle or shimmer effect? could this be sprinkled on, say, a buttercream cake?
+Danielle Jones It can be, but it will look somewhat white. It will not dominate another color, but would accent it with some sparkle.
good idea

+Sweet Wise can you use food colouring (food dye) as well as gel colour?
could corn starch be used instead of gelatin?
+KanyeTroll No, it can't. Sorry! Doesn't act the same.
love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love you so you can also do more vidos
Hey my name is Kathy too!
Is there a vegetarian version?? If not, can we use agar agar powder (seaweed based) instead of the (animal based) gelatin (I assume?) suggested?
+Sadaf Atayee you can use halal gelatine what country do you live in?
I know I don't eat gelatine I wonder if there's a different kind of edible glitter?
Sweet A I live in America! We have lots of halal markets in the area but I have never looked for halal gelatin...I will next time I'm at the halal market..if not, I'm sure I can find some online. Thanks!
jamila warsame most of the videos I watched online include gelatin in the recipe :(

Okay Thank you so much!
for how long can you storage?
+TheChocopollo You can store it indefinitely as long as it stays dry.
I thought that would be posinas from the jeliton
I think you are saying that it would be poisonous from the gelatin? Gelatin is edible, not poisonous. Like in Jello.
thx were can u find geltine
+glitterkids love www.sweetwise.com
ok thank you
U know how ur meant to put this glitter on cakes, well i just eat it lyk that. Omg i took it 2 skl for food tech and while the teacher was talkin i was jus sittin there eating my glitter and my friend thought it was actual glitter so she got so scared. LOL xD
Can this be flavored
Sure can!
Omg her nails
It doesn't really look like glitter it just looks like rocks to me
I'm her 54,100th sub
+ Sweet Wise the color, it is regal purple ?
+Kivic Bellasabrina It's Fuschia
yup my option is fine
Niki and Gabi should watch this.
can you put it on silicone mat to dry?
+Chana Weisberg The problem with the silicon is that it tends to pool a bit, leaving fatter bits that stay more rubbery and don't flake well.
what is this very is glitter
Would it lose its sheen if you used a mortar and pestle?
+Kagome Higurashi No; that would be fine.
Can you add flavoring to the gelatin?
Yes!
Not enough heat to reduce the cream, but enough to infuse the flavor.
can't you just crush up rock candy O,o
yes
zo cool
can you replace the pearl sheen with luster dust and get the same/close to effect?
+Rachael Dhanassar I would think so. Just watch your moisture content so it doesn't become too thick.
+Sweet Wise ok thank you for replying
Where can I get that gelatine bucket?
www.sweetwise.com
Where can I buy the pearl sheen
www.sweetwise.com
My mom's name is Kathy spelled the same way

Just by edible glitter
+Cezee Cupcakes There are lots of things you can "just buy", but in the name of making things yourself and saving a ton of money in the long run, or having a specialized color that isn't sold on the market, this is a great option.
