I feel I would play it out more like Dipper in Gravity Falls. Full awareness and acceptance. Only thing that failed for Dipper was having too many so that all his intrusive thoughts got amplified between them all.

I like how he solved the clone's turning on the original by no one knowing who the clone was because then they're basically a perfect copy of the original. If they have all the memories, experiences and an exact genetic duplicate, then you could just say that they're both the same person where a clone that knows it's a clone knows it's just a copy of a different person which makes it different from the original
It's also easier to just complain who the original really is as knowing for sure... well i prefer my lemonade without a modified Mycotoxin.

1 person and death means the end of the maulers and less hands for work and fighting
3 or more people means that some of them will inevitably ally with each other against the others
2 people means there's half as much chance of them permanently dying, twice as many hands for work and fighting and, because neither can truly know if they're the clone or not, a constant push for both to be and do better so that they have an excuse to say "i must be the clone"
sure, as a duo they still kill each other if it'll help the one that survives, but their priority immediately afterwards is always to make a new clone to continue the cycle.
King or the other Mauler did warn robot that knowing which was the clone wouldn’t end well. One of them died with that belief or the other forgot that.

They all know they are clones, they actually told that to Robot. The whole original and clone thing is them talking about their current incarnations, trying to one-up the other.
@@revanius2213 They told him they were LIKELLY both clones, but there was still a non zero chance that one of them was still the original and only the clone had been dying every time one of the two died. Very unlikelly, of course, but the chance was there, at least until this scene where they confirm that the original has to be dead, whether it actually was "King Mauler" or not.
They don't care who's a clone, as it's obvious that neither of them is the original. They care who's a clone of the other. Who's more real than another one

Always find it funny how people question how the Maulers wake up not remembering which side of the table the original was
But if they are smart enough to create perfect clones and duplicate subconsciouses, while knowing that clarity on who is the clone causes trouble then they are also probably smart enough to program the machine to either erase recent enough memories or at the very least scramble the memory of the table placement
Yeah that's what I assumed too. The machine just messes up the last few minutes of their memories so they don't remember which one was on which table.

This is why I never understood their desire to be recognized as the superior Mauler. They actively seek out to have a twin made every time one of them dies, but then they find being a clone as being inferior. They are very high level geniuses, why is being a clone inferior? As friendly ribbing, it makes sense to say the other is just a copy of me, but not for actual hostility. It's an interesting character trait that you wouldn't expect from people who are as brilliant and act the way they do, which is frankly good writing because it gives them depth.
Whoever keeps adding RTJ songs to the Mauler's scenes needs a raise

I know the Mauler twins werent a huge part of the comics but man I love each time we get to see them in this series. I hope we see more of them

I like that they remembered how the King Mauler died in the comics and included it in the episode. Although now I'm not sure how things with The Maulers are going to go since they've changed certain events around from how they went in the comics.

I think that it came as a surprise in the comic because there wasn’t any petrayal like when he used him as a meat shield now it was pretty much telegraphed
Yeah it’s weird because it felt like they weren’t gonna do this in the show after the meat sheild scene last season but I guess they decided they may as well since it’s like 3 scenes long between mauler getting scared , cloning himself ,and then getting poisoned
Considering people are still asking the "why not mark themselves before cloning" or "why only stop at 1 when he could make an army of geniuses" even after the meat shield and mauler comment to robot. at this point is basically just to tell good chunk of the audience point blank as why the maulers do it that way and im suspecting the army one is going show up soon
Poetic justice aside, this was probably best for the Maulers as a whole. They're a small time duo, and if they turned from a pair of guys who broke out of jail every so often to a megalomaniac with a super clone army, then they'd probably all get wiped out for good rather than chucked back in the can.
The Mauler Twins usually agree, that it's best they never know which is the real clone, because they'll do something like this at some point. Love when the comic lore is showing in the show. I can't wait for Cecil to get that teleporter bill.

The Mauler twins have some of the worst on the spot mental processing I've ever seen. Like they fumbled the bag in episode one where the guy whos only caveat to giving them their own freakin universe was to not hurt anyone (or in Marks case kill him) and they decided to disobey a direct request as if Angstrom wouldn't have been pissed and left them in some Warhammer 40K dimension after the experiment completed! This half burnt Mauler was smart enough to create a clone but not smart enough to create one that has the same injuries so as to not disrupt the status quo.
Thinking on that, Angstrom could've removed the Maulers after they disobeyed him. He didn't had a problem with bringing *in* reinforcements.

The Mauler Twins have always been my favorite for their personalities, I mean, sure they're villains with goals to either take over the world or cause chaos, but they're amusing as hell.
Again, the Maulers have no qualms about sacrificing the other when it comes to achieving a goal. The Maulers made it clear to new Rudy that the cloning process had to be seamless so that they don't know which of them is the clone, otherwise things could end badly.
Wow when I saw how the episode went, I did think about what would happen now that only one of the Mauler Twins survived the explosion and he's clearly deformed meaning any clones he makes would definitely know that it's a clone. Nice to see that they actually thought of that too
Cloning does not copy damage taken
Mauler was stupid to not put any failsafes into the clone because he knows the clone would try to kill the original as he would retain any memories of that happening in the past.
Then the next cycle
“Welcome to the living clone!"
"We both ARE clones, we know NOW for certain the True original no longer lives.”
"………..yeah, so let’s stop this dialogue otherwise we end up using poison for pointless arguments.”
The concept of "Mauler's" twins is pretty neat, his legacy continues on while the clones snuff out any problems/arrogance.
When it comes to cloning, one of two things is going to happen. The original and the clone(s) coexist or the clone(s) wise up and rebel.
Which is why they make it so that there's only a single clone and there's no way to tell who's the original. It lets them operate by 'So long as one survives, we can afford to lose one of us' and 'Since we can't tell who the original is, we may as well work together'.
The Maulers are really well thought out characters.
Peter, Kane, and Ben became brothers that will, and has, kill or die for each other.

This is pretty much why they mentioned that it’s better that none of them knows who’s the original and the clone, they knew their pride will have the better over the other which would cause the clone to plot against them even if the original they were cloned from was a clone as well. The point of the Maulers cloning is that they are both equals who share the same experiences, battle tactics and memories as one another and they would never turn in each other to the point of having superiority over who is the clone.

Kevin Michael Richardson didn't do very well as a replacement VA for Vilgax, but man, his performance on The Mauler is so good, I love hearing his voice through this characters

That's why they shouldn't distinguish between clones. The original has no reason to kill a clone he just made but the clone would need to kill the original so they can claim to be the original. They worked well together because they always thought it was unnecessary to kill the clone, and they each thought the other was a clone.
I think he’ll remember this and decide in his mind that the true original is probably long dead and that henceforth they work better together when they don’t care about who is the original.

Chances were almost 100% that the original Mauler was already dead long b4 the series started, but now it is made absolute certain. Next question is, how many clones does a lucky clone outlast untill he has a bad day himself and gets killed.
How old is the current twin I wonder. He must've stayed the same age for pretty long time if the clone survives barely couple of months at best, maybe even just a few weeks.

and this right here is the exact reason when mauler clones himself they look exactly the same with the same clothes and he erases like 10-15 mins of his memory so he doesn't remember which table he sat on if he doesn't it will always lead to one of them killing the other.
Yeah this is why they do that "Can't tll which one is a clone" thing. If they knew, original would lord over the other and the clone would eventually murder him. When they don't know there is a fragile equilibrium where they argue but Mostly stay civil and cooperate.

Original Mauler and his clones knew this would happen, hence the seemsless memory implant.
People complain that it isn't logical that Mauler would forget this but In my head i give him slack since he lost half of his body, some form of brain damage is not uncalled for and he was in constant physical pain so he wasn't thinking straight. heck i had a fever and I was not thinking straight.
And that is why the Mauler Twins always scramble their memories prior to creating their clones; to prevent this sort of thing happening.

This is why it never ends well. Mauler knows he’s too much of an asshole to ever treat a clone well, and to full of himself to accept being ‘inferior servant,’ so the only way for it to work is for the clone and original to not know whose who. Otherwise, this is what happens, and what will always happen because he’s a huge narcissist and knows it.
