- Each time Donald died, Each time he was put back together, it was because he helped make this world a little better. We're not our bodies. We are the decisions we make, the lives we change, the people we love or who loves us.
- Hry
You can tell from the lack of emotion in Cecil’s voice that he has had that same conversation with other Donalds several times.
Yes, it reminds of Westworld, with Bernard.
Except when Bernard regained his memories, he refused to be Robert's assistant again.
Cool stuff. czcams.com/video/DgyKBO-6Qtc/video.html
It happens every single time XD
Cecil probably has immense respect for Donald if he is still this patient despite having had the same conversation several times.
I think it's technically the same Donald not a clone
I personally think he's just a very good gaslighter
Cecil really spends millions of dollars to just make a dramatic exit when he could have used the door instead.
5 million per teleport to be exact
He's Addicted 😅
Idk what’s more extra this or Darth Vader getting into his suit and firing up a fog machine so he can make an entrance in his own living space
He was heading out towards the door at the start. Teleporting lets Donald know he is most definitely no longer in the room, that he won't interfere with what he is about to see.
I'm surprised the dang company's not already bankrupt by now!😅
Donald's a hero. Each time he dies, it's to help others. He forgot what happened and continues to do it.
Donald died 39 times because if he didn't it would've been someone else instead.
And he chooses to erase his memory to be sure it's the first time he ever sacrifice himself...
Donald may be a robot now, but he is still more human than anyone.❤️💙
The fact that he is just a human, back then he doesn't know about being a robot and didn't use his robot power, and still sacrifice himself is a sign that he's more heroic than some "heroes".
I'm talking about hero who just in for anything else but helping people.
That’s why I think I like this scene a lot, although yes it’s there it’s not the main focus and it leads you to make that conclusion..
Some skillful writing there I must say..😌
I love that Cecil has spent millions of dollars 39 different times to keep Donald alive that’s how valuable he is
Eh its spare change compared to Cecil spamming teleport usage
Cecil can’t afford to lose his only actually reliable agent
Well he spent billions of dollars to give Omniman a nosebleed so it's only sensible to spend a little money to bring his best agent back to life.
Tax payers money.
Donald really is his right hand the fact he’s lost that right hand 39 times and didn’t blink to bring him back shows loyalty and how awesome Donald is
The fact that in every single one of those videoclips plus his recent death at the hands of Omni-Man showed that his deaths was done in the safety and well-being of his fellow man shows that at his heart: Donald is as much of a Hero in his own right.
Donald really is That Fucking Dude.
He's literally budget Immortal but way cooler.
@@joshuawilliams8252 Donald is his own glorious thing!!
@Lkymn BUDGET? That must be quite a fucking payment plan, though! No budget at all. Coming back to life's a full expense! And Cecil paid EVERY TIME.
Donald is the real Invincible
When you first meet Donald, you expect him to be wimpy and cowardly. Except he isnt that. Even in early episodes, Donald doesn't run away. When the Kaiju moved, Donald flinched but not in the way where someone would run away. He was ready to throw hands with a beast 20 times his size. When Omni man broke into the house, Donald didnt run away. He yelled at everyone to run away, grabbed a gun, and started shooting Omni man so everyone else would have a better chance at surviving. This scene just makes the point that Donald is a chad even stronger than before. He would have made Hank proud 😢
Which Hank?
@@vrrfux4626 hank hill
@@simperorbubba_link8441That boy is finally right!
@@simperorbubba_link8441 Oh he absolutely would be proud
I tell you huwhaaat, that boy ain't raght. But that boy grew into a mahn that's doing huwhat's right.
I really like Cecil character in this show he’s ruthless but also human.
I think the funny thing is, Cecil's ruthlessness is BECAUSE he's so human. He's cold and calculating because he's also very passionate and emotional, his choices are made out of fear and desperation to protect as many and as much as he can and it does eat at him. But in some ways his choices also show just how idealistic he ultimately is, deep down. Bulletproof's assessment of the Guardians wasn't inaccurate, but Cecil still chooses to believe in them even though he's honestly got the resources and even an army of reanimen that could theoretically do a better job and follow his orders.
@@AzureSkyCiel I think that explains why he wants someone like Donald around and keeps rebuilding him every time he dies, he needs someone who has a good moral compass as his right hand to ensure he doesn't go to far.
Then enjoy it till you can, because as the show will progress, he will become more villain type of human...
@@polakcebulakfilip that's not guaranteed anymore, with rae surviving something that killed her in the comics the show's timeline is now very distinct from the comics.
Love this twist. Donald shows his justifiably upset reaction telling Cecil that Cecil is a jerk...Only for Cecil to show that Donald has been injured to the point of no return before but chooses to be rebuilt and wiped clean to fight a good fight for the sake of others. Judging from Cecil's actions, this same dance has happened many times with even Cecil getting slightly worried (but at the same time, really impressed) at Donald's sheer integrity and willpower to look at the Eldrich horrors straight in the eye and nervously say "If you want to hurt the people under my protection, you will have to square up to me."
Donald has given his life for his agency at least 39 times. And when made fully aware of everything that has happened, he chooses to stay in the game. He is as much a hero as ANYBODY with superpowers and a costume. Maybe more so.
Guy's heroically sacrificed himself each time.
The man gave away his HUMANITY to save as many lives as he can. Respect to Donald
It wasn't for the organization, but to help save others. Every time he died, he was sacrificing his own to save a life.
I disagree with @turboy65 and @zeushernandez9639 on parts of this comment chain.
Donald didn't give his life for his agency. He gave his life protecting people, some within the agency others without. And in doing so, he proved that he hadn't lost his humanity, even though he had less human biology left each time. He proved that despite the changes, his humanity was still as strong and essentially unchanged.
So, one thing I will agree with is that Donald is one hell of a Hero. Drop him into the MCU, and he would make one hell of an Agent of SHIELD.
At least 39 people are still able to live out their lives today, thanks to Donold. 39 families and loved ones spared the pain of losing someone. If that's not a hero, I don't know what is.
Cecil's a complicated man; he's turned his assistant into essentially a cyborg zombie that's only 2% of the original man he was; yet on the other hand, he could get an endless supply of assistants with the same drive and competence as Donald, but will spend limitless resources ensuring that every time he dies in the line of duty, he can live again. There's no practical reason NOT to bury him and move on, but Cecil sees an additional factor: Donald's a damned hero, and he deserves to live again.
Read the comics and you'll see how much of his own soul that Cecil has had to figuratively sacrifice getting the way he is.
@@danielhaire6677 Oh I've read the comics, just trying not to drop any spoilers.
And he lets Donald decide whether to live with all the deaths he's had or whether to erase those memories and continue like nothing ever happened.
Just goes to show that, as cold and callous as Cecil can come off, there's still a scrap of humanity clinging on inside him.
Donald is a different type a chad. A chad nonetheless.
He's a George and I will not elaborate
Even as a child, he was fearless. He was known as.... BOBBY HILL
He's just... built different
@@reigoemon2229that’s my purse! You don’t know me!
A double chin chad
Donald is becoming on of my favorite character. He may be a cyborg but he's more human than most in the show. What a hero!
General Grievous
It's like he said: "We are not our bodies! We are the decisions we make, the lives we change, the people we love." Quite the powerful quote. For him Even in a much more literal sense.
Every time Donald died, he thought he was just a regular human with a singular life and he was willing to risk that life doing the right thing. The mind of a hero.
"We are not our bodies...we're the decisions we make; the lives we change, the people we love."
If you take nothing else from this...this is still enough.
Simple message. Powerful message.
This. An important emphasis on how much those around us shape our identity.
It is quite frankly an answer to The ship of Theseus.
Your body may change and be replaced, but you are your soul. The person inside is still you.
It's not the form of a thing that matters, but the nature of it
I don't get it
@@Niskaraannnnd now i have tears in my eyes ... dang it!
So every once awhile the staff have to deal with Donald having a outburst
It occurs to me...
When Donald demands that everyone...the staff...clears the room so he can confront Cecil...
...they all probably know that Donald has confronted Cecil before; and has seen him do it, time and again.
...but everyone also probably knows that Donald has sacrificed himself repeatedly to save employees just like them; so the respect they show him isn't diminished.
It isn't pity...it's acknowledgement that the most noble among them is going through the same routine to get back to where he NEEDS to be.
Jesus christ type your shit out and be less dramatic about it, goddamn
Many of them probably own thier lives to donald
I'd say that's likely mostly true. It's probably happened before but most probably wonder how he's still alive. Most of Donald's life is definitely so highly classified that you'd need a top secret security clearance just to learn the name of the security clearance needed to read Donald's fucking Twitter lol.
So they probably know enough to know that this man should absolutely not be standing here. Individually some may know of a few deaths. Otherwise, the secret couldn't realistically be kept.
The rest is probably spot on though.
Love how the writers handled Donald truly have made him a fan favorite because he is a hero without superpowers
He is a Cyborg, pretty sure that It counts as a super Power.
@@pixelan9215 Can you think of anything more classic than gaining super powers as a reward for sacrificing yourself for others?
He finally saved someone without having him to die and rebuilt again
Donald has a huge point and hit hard with it
Donald is the one that told them to do it
Sentences to never type in a search engine:
What do you mean by that
Very true. Gets my heart and maybe yours to. It kind of reminds me of a line from husk from hazbin hotel, "there was a time I thought that no one could relate, to the gruesome ways in which I'm damaged". Donald related to rick in every way and hit us with words of hope. Donald Ferguson, I salute you sir
I half expected Donald to die right there after helping rick, just to continue the pattern.
This is even better. It is perhaps the first time Donald has saved a life without having to sacrifice himself, while at the same time preventing someone else from losing their life only to be rebuilt again.
You have to think about it, each cyborg probably costs millions of dollars to recreate Donald and put his brain. This is how much Cecil admires Donald and sees him being important because in each video, he has saved lives and still chooses to sacrifice his life for it without realizing it wouldn't be his last.
And if his 98% number is accurate, then it's literally just his brain, which is 2% of the body. Meaning at some point early on, like 1st or 2nd death, Cecil ordered the R&D needed to ensure Donald's brain would be physically protected from insane forces AND survive long enough for retrieval.
Cecil may spend 5 million a teleport to avoid using doors, but to keep Donald alive he spent the entire defense budget of a medium sized nation.
Cecil has been shown to value human life in general but he views Donald as invaluable and indispensable.
as someone with a pretty intense autoimmune disease, i lost a few tears listening to him saying „we’re not our bodys“
i’m constantly struggling with my body, losing muscle strength, loosing hair, etc.
but no matter how much i break apart, it’s my choices that matter. not my body.
Hey mate, probably not gonna mean much, but you got this. Kick ass, your body ain't got shit on you
hard
Dang, hope you're doing alright.
I guess God gave you extra struggle because you are more capable to be the hero who overcomes it that people who did not. You are a hero man, keep living the life
Hang in there, hero
This new King of the Hill series with Bobby working for Dale is better than I was expecting.
That boy is finally right!
you can see how much respect Dale has for Bobby now cuz he gave Bobby his glasses
"jesus is there something in the water today?"
doesn't the white room littrally only work because goverment puts things in the water?
Cecil has been drinking from the tap too apparently
He means something in the water that ISN'T something they put in.
It's a metaphor
"You asked for this."
* *completely fucks off like 5mil in tax payer money* *
At least we know he'll also spend ridiculous amounts of money to keep Donald alive though. Each body is expensive enough but that many deaths and the fact that the brain is 2% of the human body means that each cyborg body is equipped to protect Donald's brain.
I just love that so much
It's like the military.. if you spend more, you get more! I'm sure someone in this universe is lobbying for a bigger teleporting budget.
Donald is the literally the embodiment of "If i can sacrifice myself to save others, I'll gladly do it a hundred times"
Has no powers and no knowledge that he's a reanimated cyborg (thanks to memory wipe), still goes toe-to-toe with world ending monsters and god-like supermen with no hesitations just to save the lives of others. Despite having a big important government job still makes time for William and Rick, people he only recently met and helps them with emotional trauma. Truest hero in the show.
Committee member: Rebuilding this guy costs millions of dollars each time!
Cecil: I don't care! He has a bigger moral compass then all of you congressmen combined!!!
Donald says he's 98% machine. The brain is 2% of the human body.
Millions each time to rebuild and whatever the hell it costs for the R&D to physically protect a human brain from insane forces AND make sure it survives long enough for retrieval.
Careful that's very low bar.
Donald is quite heroic
But cecil was like "oh shit i forgot to get his signature for a leave notice"
Just another reason why he's one of the best characters in this whole dang show, man.😌
N Debbie, among all the non supers heroes. If it wouldn’t for Debbie, Mark would’ve gone rogue with his Dad and start a tyranny for the Viltrumite empire. Debbie also gave up of suicidal thoughts despite the pain Omniman gave. I craved to be as mentally strong as her.
I did say he is ONE of the best characters in the show,@@jellyfishbeans94.
The secretly beautiful part about this is.
This is not something they can do to just anyone, it has to be a worthwhile expense.
That means, the GDA considers both of them to be, in their own way...
Heroes
I dont know if rick is fully cyborg. I dont know, maybe they could salvage most of his body?
@@federicocaputo9966 thats another thing.
Maybe he's reduced fat but not 2% milk like donald is.
Annnnnnnd….Donald saves yet another life.
Legend.
Classic Donald W
W = Walter White
For a character with relatively little screen time, Donald straight up became my most favorite character of this series
Donald is a true hero.
Despite the fact his memories were erased he died defending others at least 30+ times
My man helped a suicidal person by spitting absolute motivational fire, How can you not just respect this guy
What a refreshingly powerful moment. Donald, you're a real hero of the story
It's moments like this that actually make me appreciate side characters even more, Donald is a hero, no matter how many times he has died, while being a machine, deep down he is and always will be human
Man i love Donald, such a goated character
There is a chance that Cecil stage the footage ahead in case Donald found out he's already dead to has a better chance convince him
🤫
🧏♂️
The chance is always there. However, Cecil is never one to lie. He simply covers grey areas in a line of shadow. It's kind of why he comes off as inconsiderate and rude. But he is always honest in what he says and does. Why bring a man back from the dead like that unless he had asked for him to do it. If he could always do that, then why not do it to every other person in the organization? Why only Donald?
@@bibby659Ehh to be fair, he does say he’s a “Damn good liar” when facing off against Nolan.
@@suarez9108 good liars seldom tell full lies, because it's much easier and more effective to just leave out details and neglect to share key pieces of information. Outright lying is often clumsy and sloppy, but a reputation of sorts for a kind of harsh, brutal honesty can help conceal the few times they do it, similar to how someone known for gossiping and being bad at keeping secrets and confidences can be really good at keeping quiet about a few choice things.
I really love this scene, it’s so satisfying for Donald to say, “I know how you feel” when he literally does, 39x over
i wonder how many times Cecil had that talk with him...
Probably 38
Maybe a couple of times but the way things are shown it is implied that Donald rarely finds out he is a cyborg. And this is the first time he wanted his memories back.
@@adventwolfbanethe big issue is that his most recent death left him as 98% machine, as opposed to everything beforehand
@fakename2926 how is that a big issue? Everytime he died before he was less of his human body left. It was also only because Debby someone that knew he was dead but that wasn't read into his resurrection that he began to suspect anything this time.
Probably only once. As far as we know, Donald never found out those previous times.
I was expecting Donald to somehow fall off the ledge to stop his attempt mid jump, but as per usual the writers are striving to be deeper than tropes.
Donald isn't even a super hero. Every time he risked his life he knew that he probably will die. And he did it anyway. He is a Legend
He seems pretty super to me. His words can bend a mountain.
Turns out donald is the bravest one in the series. True hero
He had a choice and he chose others over himself, a true hero !
He is such a geek...
And such a bad ass
98% cyborg, and he still chooses to do the right thing. Everytime.
At the rate he goes, one day he'll be less than millionth of a human doing the right thing, every time. The guy needed to be given a goofy face or else he'd be the MC of the show.
For whatever reason I didn't expect this
not me tears of joy on my face saying "you're a hero Donald, you're a hero"
Who would of thought a third party comic book series would have such well written story telling.
Invincible has already proven in the first season to be a very good series.
Just goes to show that you shouldn't devalue stories just based on their medium. The myth that things like comics and video games can't tell good stories is long since disproven.
by third party you mean non marvel or non dc ? well if you look at gaming industry a lot of innovation comes up from indie developers until they get acquired. Its just once a company gets bigger the creative decision making goes from the actual creators to hot shot CEOs.
Image comics, the publisher of the invincible comics, is the third biggest comicbook publisher after dc and marvel. They are huge, this is not just a big hit from some small company, they regularly produced comics like this. With it becoming an animated series Invincible became even better which yo cant always count on with adaptations
Didn't read comics growing up huh?
Not only do his actions save lives, but his words too. Donald is indeed a true hero.
Donald made me remember the manga "Inuyashiki" with their original body gone and being replaced with machine. In that manga Inuyashiki thought he wasn't human anymore and incapable of crying and feeling human emotions. Until he saved a homeless man's life in the park did he felt human again, doing what's right and saving people in trouble. The quote Donald said that they're not their bodies but the decision they make, is greatly similar to Inuyashiki, heck even the ending of that anime/manga clearly states so with the antagonist of the series.
3:01 Even though his head is messed up and he's overly focused on Sinclair, Rick's first action with this new information is to try and empathize.
Donald's such agood one. All deaths apparently was... saving others.
I feel like and honestly I hope, at this point, that Donald will get to start using stronger tech now. I feel like Donald'll be a strong powerhouse later.
buuutttt i can see it going real sidways.
I like how they’re wrapping up most of the side storylines in this show. Donald’s identity crisis came to a satisfying conclusion imo
Donald learns he died 39 times to save people, then saves another person. Pure hero status.
That is what makes doland a real hero and what Made Omni man change. Humans so small but big when it counts
Cecil = The real reason why I let you come back to life is because you are a good person. I won't admit it, but that's the only reason.
Donald = I understand why now..
Cecil: "Jesus, is there something in the water today?"
I don't know Cecil, you tell me. 🤨
If Donald knows and has accepted it, then he may as well ask for upgrades instead of something mimicking the human body. Make the best out of his situation.
Nice when they make the story about the side characters too. It usually heros saving people and never have anything about the trauma of the victims
Donald is the real hero that the world needs
I wonder if he’ll ask for his memories to be erased again the next time time he inevitably dies. Story wise seems like he wouldn’t, but he technically doesn’t have memories of dying right now so the trauma he accepted now of different from the trauma he might experience after his 40th death
I bet he'll leave a message for himself.
That conversation with Cecil at the start of the video has Cecil promising to call the doctors to put all his memories back.
Man Donald is such a goat, man is truly the best of what humanity has to offer
One of the best characters in the entire series, a boneified og 💪
anime should be banned
pokemon is doo doo butter anime
Bro has the worst and best plot armor at the same time.
donald is even more of an absolute chad than he was in the comics now
You know what's great about Donald is that he starts out as an agent of shield but ends as a avenger. in the comics he gets a single cameo page in the finnal battle but I'd really like to see him get some more lines.
The fact you can cry as a machine, still shows your human
“Is there something in the water today” yes there is
Donald is really one of the most goated characters in the series. Could probably convince Viltrum to leave Earth tbh
So much for the pathetic "Cecil's little lapdog."
Donald: Oh god, maybe that means I am INVINCIBLE.
This probably isn’t even the first time he’s had this confrontation with Cecil. They prob done it again and again until Donald finally met someone who had the same problems he had and learned to finally confront himself with who he was in the end
Donald's speech legit made me cry. I really need to watch this show.
Donald talking to rick hit hard man. I cried when watching this scene for the first time and it made me realize I am more than what my body is and more than what my choices were. I do not want to die yet, I want to live for the people I love and make my life worth it.
favorite character of entire series.
Devoted and caring, simple as that
This makes me cry and smile. Good work donald, never change.
i cant explain how much i love cecil as a character he's so human and even in the face of immense adversity he still stays ethical and nice to people
This moment with Rick, William and Donald is so genuine it tears me up 😢
Now Donald is the type of G-Man you want protecting your country. Dude has balls of steel to show bravery in near impossible odds so he can save his fellow man.
I've been finding lots of storylines similar to this lately. I feel like I need to go back to see happier stuff, but those feel so hollow after seeing all this.
donald is such a nice guy i cant i wanna give him a hug
Sometimes the strongest of us aren't the ones that can destroy whole planet's. Sometimes the one's with real strength are the ones who never fail to do the right thing regardless of what happens to them.
I love Donald, not even human, and he is more human than most in the show
Just like king Zanac from Overlord, appears unremarkable on first impression but deserves all the respect
This hit a lot harder then I could have imagined.
I love Donald as a character. This was beautiful.
I've never before heard it put that way, that we aren't our bodies but rather the decisions we make, the people we love the the ones who love us. That's amazing.
He's not a robot. He's a hero!
"Is there something in the water today?"
Yeah. It is. You did it
Donald is basically a superhero.
I'm very happy they expanded out Donald's storyline in the series, it really fills out a key supporting character.
The person wearing sunglasses is always the coolest even if grown men start crying
Donald's by far my favorite guy in this show. Dude's an absolute beast.
Really enjoyed the score in this scene. Great music
Donald really is the Coulson to Cecil's Fury. They even full on Tahitied his ass right down to the memory wipes
They put him back together, keeping him the same, at least 39 times.
And he chose to be a hero every single time.
Fantastic writing. Absolutely loved it
This scene here shows that not all heroes come in capes
Donald is such a great character.
