Favourite line from these 2 episodes has to be "You cannot fathom how much I've mourned, what thousands of years of grief has done to me!", I quote it at least once a month like if the power goes out or I stub my toe. It's such a nice multitool saying.
Then Lapis follows it with "I've felt worse"
Such a perfectly memeable line
For me it’s anything Peridot says that ends in “clod”.

Lapis's "I've felt worse" is such a powerful line, it really makes me appreciate Lapis all the more
Realistically it doesn't make sense
Blue diamond lost her sibling
Her siblings whole world and colony
Blue diamond wanted to keep the quartz alive because they were last things that reminded her of pink but it also carry the pay of remembering what killed pink.
Before that Blue and Yellow tried to make pink happy by giving her a special gem called spinel, but that didn't work.
White diamond even sacrifice her pearl, and gave her a white pearl which is the steven universe pearl.
The diamonds had tons of trial and error with Pink, but still really loved her and it really hurt.
Lapis was just lost and abandoned

After that she chose to go to homeworld and get captured then after that she forced herself to stay in a fusion with jasper.
She put herself in bad situations and acted like running away was the best option.
Lapis pain shouldn't come close to Blue and Yellow diamonds pain.

2. The diamonds actually lost their own to a shattering, which was unheard of and really scared them. So bad they sang a song to corrupt all the other gems.
Lapis overpowering Blue diamond didn't really make much sense.
@@Art-X-W I disagree wholeheartedly! Blue went through a lot, and like you pointed out Blue is arguably supposed to be more powerful than any other non-diamond gem. But gems' powers are directly connected to their emotions, and while Blue went through thousands of years of grief, she had a support system, she had things to do besides focus on her misery.
Yes, some of Lapis' pain is self-inflicted, but you have to be in a certain (horrible) state of mind to willingly put yourself through something like Malachite. Lapis was isolated for thousands of years, and when she stopped being isolated the first acts she did were running back to homeworld, the original source of her abuse, then getting punished, taken as prisoner, then self-inflicting torture in the form of Malachite. It was bad, and she was mostly alone.
Lapis has serious mental health issues that make it easy for her to make herself miserable on her own, and she's been shown to be incredibly powerful. When her gem was cracked she stole the ocean and made replicas of the crystal gems with roughly similar fighting strengths.
I don't like comparing issues like grief vs loneliness, as it isn't fair for either side of the equation. However, I think that line was earned.
For me it just makes me hate lapis even more. She's so insufferable
@@Art-X-W Its not confirmed that white wanted to sacrfice her pearl. its not even confirmed so it might just be a random pearl and gave it to pink. since theres a pearl fused with someone which means there might be more pearls. and i have a theory pinks old pearl got controlled by white.
Edit: i just realised white took pinks old pearl. according to the last episdode blue said "if you keep this up white is gonna take ur pearl" and since it was a dream its the past. so it seems like white did take pinks pearl.
@chickener1235 I think Pink got upset and screamed and it broke Pink's pearl and White Diamond just took that Pearl and gave her a new one.
Every single episode from "A Single Pale Rose" onwards is a banger that broke the fandom. We were an emotional mess for MONTHS waiting for the last episodes of S5 to air, when Steven opened his eyes to the Diamonds I remember screeeeeaming, like "Yeeeees FINALLY!"
Steven Universe: “Try censoring this gay episode, foreign Cartoon Networks!”
Foreign Cartoon Networks: “We can still mess up your story structure by refusing to air it, forcing you to end the series 20 episodes early!”

@@Art-X-WRussia's Supreme Court banned lgbt protests and ruled that any LGBT Movements will be classed as "extremists" and police have raided many gay clubs predominantly in Moscow earlier this week. The Russian Government is not pro-LGBT by any means!
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND: the rest will feel rushed but its because of the wedding. Rebecca Sugar wanted the wedding to happen so bad but CN threw every excuse for them not to do it like saying it wouldn't be exciting enough, so they made it as exciting as possible with the diamonds. In making the wedding happen, CN told them to wrap up the show within the next few episodes which they then fought for the movie and epilogue series

Interesting facts about this episode the wedding scene was banned in a lot of countries outside of the USA because of the marriage of an LGBTQ+ couple,this marks the first modern cartoon to feature an LGBTQ+ couple and the first to get married.
U see, this right here I never undrstood, coz the marriage between ruby nd sapphire is technically straight in terms of gem standards coz they r a race of females, even tho they r honestly just genderless, since they r light in physical form but I digress, the only person who's "Gay" would technically be rose bcoz her race has no men nd she strayed, but I guess ppl will cancel anything now 😅

Fun fact: Most countries will change the pronouns of characters in tv shows if their is an LGBT couple, so the crewniverse purposely gave sapphire (the more femme looking one) a suit, and Ruby (the more masc looking one) a dress so even if they did change ruby’s pronouns to “he” then “He” would still be wearing a dress (I hope this makes sense I’m not very good at english)
Cannot believe how close to the finale we are and let me say the wedding episode is just tooo cute!, I love them and Garnet.

I love the touch of Ruby in the dress and Sapphire in the suit, not just because it's a cute reversal of their usual looks, but because there were some countries that had dubbed ruby over with a male actor to make the relationship heterosexual, so now not only would they have to air the wedding if they wanted to air the plot, but they wouldn't be able to make it appear like a straight relationship. Such a great creative way of making it impossible to ignore!
i'm sure you probably know this but it was because of this episode that steven universe had to end almost a whole season early because of gay censorship rules, its such a shame that they had to rush the ending but it was worth it for this jaw dropping wedding and celebration of Garnet who we all know and love

This is another episode that was nominated for the same Emmy Award for Outstanding Short-Form Animation. Lost to Love, Death & Robots - The Witness.
9:33 There's something so beautiful about this moment, when in Season 1, it was just the 4 of them with the gems seeing Steven as little more than a burden to their missions. Now look how much the team has expanded, Connie, Lion, Lapis, Peridot and Bismuth. And with Steven not at the back, but heading the charge as their leader.

a lot people don't like idea of Diamond refrom but if they be real they will see that how Diamond so OP Steven and group have no chance at all to win by froce
That, and also the Gem's empire would have been a mess if the Diamonds were taken out, it's easier to reform and rebuild a country with their head cooperating (similar to how the Japanese emperor was allowed to keep his position after WWII).
i dont like how rushed it was but that's hardly the writers' fault, they were pressured by the network.

THIS EPISODE WAS SO GOOD, BRO!
You can probably chalk this up as them having a limited time for this arc, but I was pretty disappointed on how Lapis returned so.... casually 😅.
With how both Peridot and Lapis grew together to appreciate life on Earth and their friendship grew, I was expecting an actual apology from Lapis, instead of just a "...Hey." Granted, Lapis obviously has trauma and didn't wanna get caught up in another Gem War, but just leaving Peridot up and dry while taking the barn, their home, was pretty messed up. I wish there was some type of apology owed to Peridot. Not to mention, she was kind of going through a rut too when Lapis bailed on her.
Speaking of trauma, I was also hoping there would've been a bit of tension between Lapis and Bismuth as well. When you look at Lapis's flashback on how she got poofed during the war, the gem who did it was obviously Bismuth. Granted, it was incredibly long ago and you could say neither of them remembered because it happened so fast, but during the flashback, the made Bismuth look shady and intimidating on purpose. Even in her first episode, Bismuth's introduction was pretty intimidating 😅.
Like I said, they probably didn't have that much time to add any of these to the remaining episodes, or just felt like it didn't matter to the overall plot of the finale... it's just something I wish was delved into more 😅
This is one of my favorite episodes throughout the series! I admit, I nearly cried at the end of the episode 😅

I will always defend that Steven Universe is Lovecraft Lite and this episode had it all.

peridot is not the best character in the show. there, I said it.
Pearl's "I'll do it for ME!" changed my teenage life btw. My mental health improved tenfold after that as a recovering chronic people pleaser 🥹
