Blue's voice actress might be my favourite in the series, she's easily my favourite diamond.
The voices of all the Diamonds were marvelously well picked. Yellow's commanding and intimidating voice mirrors her strong personality, while Blue's sorrowful and soft voice mirrors her current state of mind.
So, who's the voice of Blue Diamond again?

I discovered Lisa Hannigan's music a few years before seeing SU, I was so shocked when I heard Blue speak for the first time and recognized her voice immediately. So cool, and the character is really a perfect match for her
This Blue reveal was SICK. The fact that Garnet saw a future where they all got caught shows that Blue Diamond would remember the rouge Ruby and Sapphire from all the way back then. Poor Greg. Just getting swooped into gem stuff when he should’ve just stayed home! 😅 The next few eps are so good. ❤
Yea but i think it was dumb in garnet's part for not telling steven the whole truth. All she could've said "steven, you can't go because i saw in my future vision that Blue Diamond will find you and take you and greg to homeworld. So please don't go."
She couldn't; "If I tell you why you shouldn't go, you'll only want to go more" - Steven was too ready to try and resolve the conflict, nothing would have stopped him going.
@@firemiracle Garnet knew that Steven wanted answers. He knew it was dangerous from her not wanting him to go and he’d want to go even more if he knew there’d be another gem on earth. I don’t blame Garnet for not telling him. She probably saw a future path where he listened too. But ultimately it was Steven’s choice. Why a 14 yo is making the decisions is worrisome though 😂🤷🏻♀️
as a Korean, I was thrilled to see Korea mentioned in one of my fave shows

It's interesting that they never especified which part of Korea they are. This implies that, in Steven Universe's world, Korea is one single country.

I love that the Diamonds are voiced by Theater and Broadway professionals.
Something that's easy to miss, when Garnet is trying to convince Steven not to go to the palanquin you can hear how conflicted she is over it because her voice changes between Ruby and Sapphire's separate cadences and inflections: listen closely to 9:37 - "Steven, don't go" is more strained & percussive like Ruby, whereas "I'm scared, I can't get near her" is softer and more smooth like Sapphire, and her usual speaking voice is more of a blend of the two. I just always thought that was a really cool detail to put in
That also would fit in with how Ruby and Sapphire individually felt about Blue Diamond. Ruby escorting Sapphire was probably the closest proximity she came to BD, so she would have no lingering feelings of loyalty towards her former leader (who in anger called for Ruby to be shattered), while Sapphire presumably advised BD many times and so would be very uncomfortable encountering her again as an adversary.
The people drawing Greg was actually a reference to the Steven Universe animation studios because they are Korean studios
I remember watching this scene for the first time and being mesmerized by Blue Diamond.

Three Gems and a Baby is what they were working on when the show was cancelled for the first time. The song Greg sings is what Rebeca Sugar wrote when she learned.
Expect the pace to pick up as they start cutting episodes to make the show end in time, and to not understand what’s happening because the characters start acting on feelings that have been mostly subtext.
"I Could Never Be Ready" is the song Rebecca Sugar wrote when she found out that Steven Universe was being cancelled.

Also, Greg saying "I'm not that far away, Steven" is funny, considering what happens at the end of "Steven's Dream" XD
Three Gems and Baby: there had been a theory running about this time that Greg wasn't sunburned or tanned, but was "pinked" when Rose poofed out of existence while giving birth to Steven. I didn't give it much thought one way or the other, until I saw this episode. Greg has normal skin tones in the Lion 3 video, just before Steven was born, and now here in 3GAAB just a few months after Steven's birth (and in the middle of winter no less) Greg has his familiar "farmer's tan".
Steven's Dream: Blue Diamond's unexpected behavior was the first time I thought that Steven might be able to avert a massive Diamond attack on Earth. Blue Diamond showed that not all the Diamonds were incapable of sympathy with organics and other "lower" beings, and unlike Yellow was deeply ambivelent about the impending destruction of Earth.
In contrast to Yellow Diamond's Pearl, Blue Pearl (in SU fandom known as Bloople) has exquisite manners.
Also if you liked Blue's voice, her voice actress Lisa Hannigan has a great body of Irish folk vibe-y music which is all incredible if you're into that sort of thing.

3:52 I think Garnet's fusion theory, and Pearl's "trapped in a baby" theory, both imply that Rose gestated Steven as per usual, and that it was the "gave up her physical form" part of the birth that they're disagreeing on. Garnet suspects Rose fused with the baby, while Pearl thinks - I'm guessing here a bit - that the effort of childbirth caused Rose to poof; before she could reform, her gem was effectively "bubbled" in Steven. Both theories seem to have a bit of truth to them, but...

Yeah, it was a cute easter egg, because the animation studio that did a lot of the animation work for the show was in Korea!

You can tell Rebecca Sugar already knew how the last episode was going to be by the huge foreshadowing of this episode
*That* twist was planned before even the pilot was created.
Not just that, ALL the theories of the gems are right, Steven is a fusion, “Steven” & Rose was a shapeshift’ed Pink D. “Rose”/Pink Steven was ‘trapped’ inside Steven and if you got the gem out “Rose”/Pink Steven would come out
Also, little note here, even though most people think Pearl didn’t do it because it could hurt/kill Steven, but it also could have been because Pearl knew that if she did that she would be revealing that Rose was P.D. and breaking the one wish P.D. left to her before permanently becoming Rose

That’s why everyone is so shocked when pink Steven shows up, it proves steven isn’t pink, he isn’t rose, he’s steven, just split in two. 50% human 50% gem 100% steven

In my opinion, you guys should really pause what are you watching while commenting something about it, is really hard to listen to what are you talking while the video is still playing, and sometimes you miss some important details e interesting informations while talking because you weren't paying full attention

@@manupm9161 I thought about that too, but then, how they make that work? Like, they record their face and the show in separate files, then for CZcams they just play one on top of the other, and for Patreon they post the version with the pauses and commentaries?
Todays cartoon audio was a bit too loud where it’s usually fine and we’ve given our editor a note to make sure it’s not an issue going forward.
We used to pause but 90% of people skip within 5 seconds of the reaction pausing or ending so it hurts the videos performance.
We’d love to be able to but it’s audience dictated sadly.
@@ProjectSenpai That's understandable tbh, I would love to see you guys pausing and discussing some nice details and thoughts about each episode, especially Steven Universe that has such a lot to digest after each important moment, but since it's actually not worth for the channel, that's is a valid move
I really wish you'd turn up your audio or pause when you're talking! I want to hear all your thoughts but it's tricky to concentrate sometimes

The Cartoon Network in here just play cartoons randomly (including some you're also reacted like Steven Universe, Regular Show, Adventure Time...), most of the time you may see an episode from the start of the season 2, than it just comes to maybe the finale of that season of some eps from season 3 or 4 in the next episode, and CN usually plays the earlier eps that we already watched so many times, so for maybe 2~4 years, the newest episode I watched is just around here, and I think that's why I have a feeling that I just can't describe about this specific palanquin episode.
(One day, I watched CN and found out that they're playing the "newest" episodes [at least for me, I know there's already had season 5 but I forgot it's ended or not and I didn't watch it back then] and it just became normal in that period, playing SU's two new episodes every two or three days at the same time, and I shocked by so many things when I watched season 5 for the first time [and also the only time], just keep watching and you'll see.🎉)
(I forgot because it's long time ago, but I guess the period when they "played normally" is in the pandemic [maybe 2020, but I could say it's definitely after 2018, at least 2019], no matter when, it just says how chaotic and late the CN in here is)

I fcking hate and love how this scene is basically a 1:1 of what Pink Diamond was going through, she wasn’t allowed to do what she wanted even though she was a diamond too
PLEAAASE put more attention to the episodes, is really a annoying when u guys don't stop talking and not listening the episode!
They have subtitles on, it's a reaction channel, you have to expect some talking throughout the episodes or else they'd literally be posting the episodes normally.

@@mellow3995 oh, definitely, I know how to creators do and I really appreciate, but literally they miss important things for not putting attention, they can pause and comment, I really love listening the notes of the reactors but not when they comment and not listening the characters in important situations
90% of people skip within 5 seconds of the reaction being paused or ending.
This is why we no longer do the end of season discussions because the last time we did only 4% were still watching when the video was us talking without the video.
Taking this into consideration, we do our best but please not that this isn’t a test and we don’t need to get it all right. If we miss some stuff then that’s okay, we have an amazing community here and on patreon that can fill us in ☺️
