- The Marketplace on Minecraft Bedrock Edition has quite a lot of issues with stolen skins, maps, texture packs, and mods in recent times, and has been thrust into the spotlight in the past month with a release of a video by @AntVenom discussing the Faithful 32x situation. Recently, the Aether Mod was also recently stolen and published to the marketplace, further highlighting the problem. This video attempts to bring more light to the issues at hand, so that more focus and solutions may be brought to them. All of this commentary, over some Hive Bedrock Skywars background gameplay.

Vizzy (Kraineff) says in a Discord message that Faithful is currently hidden on the marketplace, and will be back up in a few days. Based on our experience of Vizzy in the past, you may or may not want to believe that. Just figured I'd put this out here in case the video ages badly.
Also, apologies for the random quality drops that the videos have been experiencing recently. Working on finding the cause of that and hopefully fixing it soon 🙂

"Faithful 32x" and "The Aether" stolen and put to the marketplace is horrible. Microsoft needs to fix it.
I think one of the proper legal ones are "StoneBlock" because it is legally distributed by FTB.
There are two sides to the Marketplace. On one side, you have great content like the Sonic DLC and Pirate's Fortune, and studios like Gamemode One and Noxcrew, And on the other side, you have some unknown studio releasing stolen youtuber skins. I really want the amazing content on the marketplace to be recognized more, but I feel like everyone is caught up in the "trash" stuff like the skins. Maybe Microsoft will eventually have quality assurance teams to the marketplace, but that seems far off. Either way, I'm excited to see what the marketplace has to offer in 2022.
I recently played a marketplace map called terra swoop force, with INSANE maps, it was an elytra flying course with awesone flyer suits, a super cool story and a crazy ending, the courses were super unique and creative though quite challenging, there even seemed to be different modes (i didn't try all of them) but the best part: IT WAS FREE!!! i totally recommend trying it out

Yup. I'm a skin creator and I recently discovered a partnered company had posted slightly edited skins that were heavily based off of content I've created in the past. I contacted the studio directly, and, unsurprisingly, received no response. It's clear they have no intentions of stopping seeing as they have since posted more stolen content- skins I recognize unquestionably from NameMC. I don't look forward to the lengthy process of communicating directly with Mojang/Microsoft, and am honestly seriously considering just letting it go, sad as it is. Great, informative video!

Don't, they are profiting off of your's and others work, doing nothing themselves, imagine you spent 400+ hours building thousands upon thousands of unique buildings, tagging it with signs than someone comes along, and removes the signs, and put a couple of leaves making it look a bit more dilapidated and it gets thousands of clicks more than your original, wouldn't you pursue that?

I… really like the direction your content is going. I like these “general” bedrock commentaries more then the hive ones because I’m just much more interested in this stuff. If I had to give a little feedback, I would say just keep doing these more minecraft bedrock focused videos instead of the hive focused videos. Great job
it also may catch a broader audience. although a majority of the bedrock player base plays on The Hive anyway, this will catch the attention of the people who play on Bedrock Edition but just don't play on The Hive or any server in particular. or even people outside of Bedrock Edition, just wanting to catch up on news on other platforms of the game.

Anyway, very informative video. I would like to say that I’m surprised this is happening but when you mentioned that Microsoft is making money off of these stolen items, it made a lot more sense why they’re so slow to act. Also it sucks because now people who don’t play bedrock are going to use examples like this and bad featured servers to say why they don’t like bedrock edition…even though those problems don’t represent bedrock as a whole.
They have the right to trash on Bedrock for those reasons, and this is coming from a person who PRIMARILY plays the Bedrock edition lol. Microsoft knows what they are doing. Minecraft isn't really the type of game that should be littered with microtransactions. Minecraft was meant to be a game that you pay for ONCE and ONLY ONCE. And these situations proves it...

The Marketplace is basically the Google Play Store of Minecraft. There are genuinely good addons, maps, and resource packs that are sold at a fair price but those are often overshadowed by the massive abundance of terrible maps and knock-off versions of popular and trending topics using different combinations of terms to narrowly avoid copyright infringement.
fun fact: you cant even upload direct addons on the marketplace, you need a map for it. plus you can transfer whatever addon is there to another world. Oh wait, you cant even upload it cuz you need to be a marketplace partner? how can i be, you ask? welp you only need to sign up this form and it will take a long time. Im a bedrock user (android specifically) im not hating in this edition though.
This just further proves what Pixel Paradise showed us at its time of release: Minecraft is slowly falling into Microsoft’s corporate wormhole of shameless moneygrabbing, and Mojang can’t really do that much about it. I’m just hoping this situation improves over time and for the Minecraft community to slowly restore its wholesome origins.

I bought it too. Was thrilled the Aether was finally here. I had like many tried the glowstone frame and water trick, that was a hoax.
This makes me weary of buying any more stuff on there.
honestly my only qualm with bedrock as a java player is the marketplace. I don't care about any of the bugs (which java also has plenty of), or the different features (because I understand they're made in different engines). I just think putting microtransactions in a game with a primarily young audience, who usually have no sense of the value of money, is scummy. And then I hear about the stolen stuff on the marketplace, and it really doesn't help bedrock's case. I play a lot of modded Minecraft, and I don't want to have to pay as $5 (which is 369 of my country's currency, way too expensive) for a simple tools mod when I can get it for free in java, and I can't even get a refund. Otherwise, I think I agree that Bedrock is the future of Minecraft, but they really need to improve the system

just wanted to correct you however: there ARE LOTS of free content that you can find on places other than the Marketplace, that are of similar, if not better quality than some of the stuff on the Marketplace. as a Bedrock player who's considering moving to Java first chance I get, you can totally still enjoy stuff like add-ons, texture packs and maps without touching the Marketplace ever
i just dont like it at all when somebody uses the point of "how am i going to enjoy add-ons, texture packs and maps if i dont have money???!?!!?!" when you definitely still can, it's definitely exaggerated in that regard
take a free texture pack like "MultiPixel" for an example, i was like "people are paying for Faithful?" when there's this way better version of it that's free and basically just Faithful but the +1.14 textures, while MrVizzy's Faithful still had a few textures stuck in the old 1.8 style
the aether thing made me a bit mad ngl…like I wouldn’t want people making over 10k on something I made… like bruhh, and for them to do it on something so nostalgic like that, is just stupid
It's really sad seeing so many videos & comments about this making it seem like the Marketplace as a whole is bad. A handful of partners who started stealing once they got accepted is overshadowing all the amazing partners who make original content.
not to mention people are exaggerating it a bit, some of them even seem to think you can't even download free content outside of the Marketplace (and you definitely can and the gap in quality isn't very big at all)

Ive been recently scammed off the marketplace. I wanted to get a cool parkour map that was about 1000 minecoins and i bought it. When i created the world, there was no map... I tried to make a new world, there was no map.. I really hope that they should do something about this, the map got removed, but i bet there are more things like this in the marketplace.

The minecraft marketplace was supposed to act as a way for minecraft creators to make a living out of making content for player. But if content on that marketplace are stolen from other creators, then all that is doing is harming the creators of rhe original content. I really think that the minecraft marketplace needs to have a way to regulate the content that is posted on there(either user based reports or a team manually checks content before making it public) this way things like this shouldnt happen. The fact that this is happening on there and people not getting refunds for the stolen content is just unreal and really heartbreaking. Like Minecraft Bedrock already had a bad rep for having Microtransactions in the first place, but this situation just made things even worse. I hope things get better.
A lot of the points you make I agree with, and I too loathe the marketplace (I say that as someone who has worked in it). But you failed to define what the term “stolen” really means as it was used in this video. Assets? Intellectual property? Themes? How does it differ from inspiration? Etc

I found a skin pack that had 80 skins FOR FREE. There were THREE of them. 240 FREE SKINS.
i think the marketplace is awesome for switch players because there isnt any other way to get texture packs or worlds. There definitely is a limited choice for pvp packs which is disappointing but i think its directed towards non pc players.

As a Minecraft skin creator I realy appreciate the coverage on marketplace being a hell hole. It's absolutely abysmal and it's other websites do the same thing.

This is why I hate bedrock edition so much,they allow people to steal mods, maps, that people spent months if not years just to make it and then someone steal it and make a living out of it while they dont.
part of my work is to review the new releases on the minecraft marketplace every week. It is so frustrating to see cheaply produced content relying on their stolen IP to overshadow well made original content...
i think whats best for the community is to allow comments under the products they purchased and a moderation team to check whether any rules is broken

Its the auto clicker glitch, it doesnt hit players so it is harmless but it usually occurs when you click and switch inventory slots at pretty much the exact same time (it works easier if you use the side mouse buttons)

About the among us spinoffs. I know it sounds bad but I mean you can't judge minecraft negatively for that. This comes with every game that has community adding stuff. Like roblox has actual among us minigames with minor changes and nothing was done about it.
This video just proves, in my opinion, any in app purchases in extremely popular games need some form of government regulation to prevent this type of stuff from happening on their marketplace

I think it says a lot that someone can steal content from someone who literally works on the game and they can’t do anything about it because a company higher up cares more about making money

I knew about faithful but I didn't knew there were so many of stolen content and now ather ? I am a bedrock player. I used to think about good of marketplace content which actually earns creators some money which is good in a way. But now after seeing the vedio I am shocked. I personally think skins would get stolen indeed (I use a skin made by myself I never put it in market place nor anywhere but I saw a similar skin to mine but I don't know chances of my skin being coppied). Now I am gonna do my own research on this . Thanks potato for making the vedio it is great

Ngl, There is no way the aether dimension could be real because (Im about to get nerdy) the og is coded in Java and bedrock is coded in c++ (those are coding languages). So honestly I am pretty sure that is fake since then it would have to go through a whole makeover of code just to make it compatible. So I think it’s a scam
Just because it is a mod for one version, that doesn't mean that it being on the other version automatically makes it "fake". Yes the OG is coded it Java and this one was coded in Bedrock, but the creator made their OWN spin on the mod. Bedrock athier is possible, but I still don't like stealing...

Minecraft marketplace has to focus more on making sure no content sold is stolen, people are making profit off of someone else’s work, who probably gave it for free, such as the anther mod.
This is why I fought to try and get people to boycott the marketplace when it first released and that didn't work. Now it's a place to make money of off kids & people who don't know better and Mojang/Microsoft isn't touching it/fixing it. I wish people would put some more thought in these things.

why the hell would you even buy a 3rd party skin pack in the first place? The only appeal paid skins have is their custom 3D geometry and their professional quality.

How do you get outlined ores in the pack? when i go to the website there's no download for outlined ores.
