    In the 80s /90s tag heuer were the brand to own . Everybody wanted a tag . Rolex wasnt as big as a brand as tag heuer were then. So i think its quite sad when people dismiss this brand now as being rubbish . The older formula one watches from the 80s and 90s are still sought after now. I own a quartz chrono from 1999 and it still looks amazing today and everything works perfectly. I expected tag to go from strength to strength, but they got somewhat stagnated as the formula one was quartz and the new craze was autos. I believe they are a great brand but they need to up their game quite a bit to be considered as the brand to own , once more.

      Good comments and backs up my research on the brand, I didn't live through the 80s but everyone who I've spoken to echoes your sentiment. A lot of hit and miss releases but definitely potential to take some more of the Swiss watch market share 🙂🍻

    There's nothing on TAG Heuer's website suggesting this is in-house ! The calibre 02 chrono is definitely in-house. If you bought this last year then it's a Sellita sw200-1 like all the current calibre-5 THs. The older ones were ETA 2824 and the older Calibre 5 Day/Date is ETA 2836. There's nothing wrong with pins and collars, Patek Phillipe uses them. Bolts are great, as long as you use a bit of threadlocker. I've own TAG Heuer, Omega and Oris. I'll never buy Oris again LOL My Oris Diver broke after 1 year and the lock system on my TT3 chrono crown broke.

      @nextonthewrist  Před rokem +1

      It did say in house when you go in the Calibre 5 page, I see they've changed it 😜...but if you Google 'Calibre 5 tag heuer' still shows the old website text under the link and you'll see they describe it as in-house, which as you agree is wrong. 🙂👍 Maybe they saw my video 😂...thanks very just much for the comments, I've been so interested in Oris so really surprised to hear you had two bad experiences...they seem to be a bit of a darling on CZcams. I do love the Tag Formula 1, but like a lot of brands, I would never pay retail for one. Best way to purchase one is to look used for under the $1K price point. At that price it is a great deal. The movements they are using are not in-house like they claim. Most likely just a custom rotor on a 2824 movement or Sellita equivalent, much like the entry level options from Oris. This is where the whole price thing comes into play. You can get a brand new Oris or Longines with a similar movement and finishing for less money than a Tag.

    Just bought a stickered demo F1 Cal 5 with ceramic bracelet. As good as new with 16 months warranty remaining & for less than half of list. Agree with the criticisms here & feel it is overpriced at retail. I was wearing 1st gen F1 & F1 chrono back in the 90's & loved them. Dissapointed with the 2nd gen but the mojo is back with this particular Cal 5. It's also one of the few modern day F1's fitted with a dive bezel, as opposed to the virtually useless & ugly Tachy. The graphite-grey colour scheme with subtle red accents + brushed ceramic bezel & center links add up to a pretty compelling package. Just don't pay retail.

To make a logical comparison in my newer videos I've got a reference wity my lume champion, a Proxima diver - so at least there's always a reference point one video to another, and I think I'm getting better on the camera 😅🤞... hopefully it improves the review quality. Hmmm it's definitely on par with a Longines Hydroconquest. I've had both and honestly they could've come from exactly the same factory they're so similar in fit and finish. I think similar pricing would be fair with that, it's a definite level above Seiko SPB143 (closest competitor I can think of) - finishing of the bracelet and tolerances all around blow the Seiko away...and same with Tissot and Hamilton dive watches when you get in in the hand - again I regularly handle these brands. You wont see that in a CZcams video though...But overpriced definitely, it should be on par with the hydroconquest I think for fair market value. That is it's identical twin for construction. Kudos to TAG Heuer for duping the uninformed through their marketing. PS all of these criticisms go away if the watch retailed for $650, which is a realistic price for this watch.

    • @nextonthewrist
      @nextonthewrist  Před rokem +3

      Not mincing your words 😅...Personally I wouldn't go that far. If you watch TGVs excellent tag heuer factory tour they operate at an entry level luxury. I find this particular Tag is almost identical to the Longines Hydroconquest in terms of fit, finish and feel and both essentially ETA 2824 based, with minor differences. The Longines is literally half the price - so we can all agree the value proposition definitely isn't there and it's miles off at RRP as per the points in the video... but it is a good entry Swiss product, and it is an interesting brand in terms of history. At $650 I think the Tuseno Shellback is the king, and the Tag is a better built watch than this.

      I think they'll always have a loyal following, regardless of the value proposition... lots of people grew up with TAG as their dream watch. Even in my generation I remember my college friends all wanted to get a TAG when they started going out to clubs an chatting to the girls 😅

      @@nextonthewrist I see most Tag haters will offer their opinion but rarely offer anything to back it up. No explanation, no comparison, no context.
      I would agree to some extend that Tag Heuer F1 watches are expensive compared to the likes of Longines who match the quality for less but I would say they off set this with their designs.

      Is a battery not better for racing to be hassle free lightweight etcetera and not just made cheaper for poor people like me

    Sorry but Tags absolutely sucks. I actually bought two and only one of them is still working. 😤🤮

      If it's under warranty send it back. There's not much to break on this auto ...it's based off an ETA movement and easily repairable and serviceale. Any watch can break - but I don't hear many issues with Tag around collection circles, certainly no more than other brands.
