  • Before you use car paint, it's important to use an automotive primer to prep the surface and ensure a smooth, final topcoat. Selecting the right primer will depend on your project needs and whether the surface is metal or plastic.
In this video, Pete Gonzales and TJ Zizzo will show you how to prep and prime metal and plastic surfaces using a variety of Rust-Oleum automotive primers and help choose the primer that is best for your project.
For example, Rust-Oleum Adhesion Promoter helps paint adhere to automotive plastics while Rust-Oleum Sandable Primer provides a tough, rust-inhibitive base for metal surfaces. Rust-Oleum Universal Bonding Primer is a multi-purpose primer that can be used on a variety of surfaces.
Watch the video for more detailed project tips and tricks and be sure to read all instructions on the product labels before starting your project.
