This is what got me back into collecting! I loved polly back in the day and I'm so annoyed that i didnt keep my vintage ones! I also agree that i wish the new ones looked like the vintage ones - the new polly kinda sucks

@@Kerchie I had the trendmasters 1996 Cinderella Castle that played music and light up. Really regret not keeping that one, was definitely a keeper.
It makes me so happy to know I’m not alone about the utter disappointment of the new Polly.
I love the pastel turquoise + pink palette from the 2018 one!
I definitely love the colors of the anniversary edition. But the quality nowadays is very cheap compared to older toys. When they did the reboot of Polly they should've aimed to make them more like the originals. The new ones are not so bad, but they don't compare to the detail and color they put into the older compacts. I wish they would bring them back 💔
When I bought the 30th anniversary edition, I was also questioning why they didn't just use the same approach for the newer Pollies. But I also know it's for a different generation so that's understandable.
I love the little teddy bears!! Even though the new set isn’t as great, I still really want to purchase it!!

I received the 30th anniversary as a gift. The packaging is so beautiful! I don’t want to open it!
Luckily you can open it and put it back in the box without ruining any of the packaging. That's what I did! The box is too pretty to throw away.

You could call Mattel and they would send you another one. Mine was same. The set came with a lot of imperfections and they send me a new one for free.
Amazon is pretty good about issues like this so they gave me a bit of a discount.
Omg I love these vids! ☺️ I had always had a fascination with the Polly Pocket toys! Obviously, it wasn’t common for boys to like or play with dolls in the 90s, which is why I opted for Mighty Max toys, but watching these awesome vids helps me live vicariously through you! Thanks and well done ☺️☺️

I’m personally partial to the colors of the original, but I also really like the 2018 version. Also! I noticed that there is a listing on eBay for the color variation of the original right now! Suuuper spendy but also very cute.

The 30th anniversary edition is beautiful! I can imagine a 35th/40th anniversary edition being costed in gold. At least you didn’t review the orange version from the early 2000s with the taller Pollys. XD

I really hope they will make an actual reeboot of those it was one of the most briliant toys ever invented it was a very compact doll house that you could take anywhere and the entire furinture was attached so it wont get lost even tough the dolls really tend to get lost and it was relativley cheap compare to the massive standard doll houses which took a lot of room

My partytime surprise comes with two figures without Teddy bear
This set was released in 2019 for Polly’s 30th anniversary, Mattel usually puts the year of production in their products instead of the year of release, or they put the year that they first used the mold for the toy. Unfortunately, Mattel's quality control over the last few years is pretty bad you can see it in some of their other toys like Barbie, Barbie dolls nowadays have pixelated face paints and cheap fabrics and accessories and I don't like them, but I find some of the recent Polly Pocket releases really cute

I got the same 30th anniversary Polly Pocket compact and the thing would NOT budge, I was quite upset about that but I thought that was how it was meant to be or something because it's just a novelty thing. But seeing this now I think mine could have had a manufacturing defect or something. Still love it, though.

Hi guys! The musical one is the teal one Mattel released in 2000. The 1989 and 2018 ones that I have don't play music.

@@Kerchie thats so odd that the button and speaker holes are there but no sound.. a scrapped feature? there doesnt seem to be a hidden battery compartment, unless the table pulls off... 🤔
I too also started collecting Polly pockets after I purchased the 30th anniversary one. They should definitely remake or keep the old aesthetic for the new modern ones. It’s a shame they don’t, I guess they’re trying to break away from the colour schemes however in my opinion would be more successful if they didn’t change it so much. Same as barbie, she was very successful when I was a kid but now new barbie isn’t so great and sucks in quality.
I agree! I understand the whole process behind it, like new audiences and such. The new Pollies are very popular even though us 90s kids would like the old ones back. Barbie is Barbie, she's been outdated for years even with modern updates.

Is it true that it doesn’t stay open by itself like the vintage ones from the 90s? Do you have to hold it?
It stays open but it locks at 90 degrees, so you can't adjust the angle. And the one I got for some reason falls over when it opens. After I covered the glitter with Mod Podge, it stopped falling over.
Is the cake in the 1989 polly a button for sounds? I think I read it somewhere but I don’t really remember. 😅
The teal version has the sounds. Unfortunately, I don't have that one. :(
