- I have finally branched out into collecting other compact toys in conjunction with my Polly Pocket collection. Shopkins was highly recommended, so here it is! I absolutely LOVE them. They're all gorgeous and the characters have the signature Polly hinge. Let's take a look at all 15 of them in detail.

Finally! These shopkins locks are soooo adorable. But the golden face of shoppie outside the compact rubs off easily when being played. Do you have any tips on how to keep the golden shoppie face intact? Thanks a lot! 😊
I would try using a glossy varnish. A brand I like is Polycrylic. Just a very light thin coat should help. Use a tiny fine tip brush to go over the outline of the gold foiling.
So lovely to see all the compacts. They're so beautiful. I still have a way to go to collect them all, but I'm so happy with the ones I have so far. I agree that some of them are lacking a little more detail than others. But the overall theme of each one is so well done and cute that it makes you overlook the lack of detail. And the dolls are precious too! The hinge is back! 💕👑

Kerchie - I love their cute hairstyles too, they're all so original. I also have the worry of the stickers with the lock combinations. They should have drawn the icons on the actual plastic instead of putting a sticker in my opinion.
Etching the icon on the plastic is a much better direction. I guess I just have to be careful.

OMG when I heard that Shopkins Lil secrets video came out I was blown away my favorite one is great bakes cupcakes .
If you're worried about the symbols you can always make tiny marks on the wheels themselves, with golden paint for example. Or you can seal the stickers with varnish

I started leaving two of the locks symbols set correctly and just one symbol, the middle one, set incorrectly so I’m not constantly changing them all and running the risk of the tape coming off

No if the symbols come off it has little stars to open it and i know because i have one and the stickers came off.

I wish they'd make more of these because they're the only toy so far that's been on par with the original Polly Pockets.

I have cutie fruity smoothies(Lock) and Tiny tunes music studio(Locket). I also have tiny shoppies like Pineapple Lily and Melodine.
These are my favorite both shopkins and these compacts especially

i also want to mention that 1 series lockets have "special finish" inside glitter or fuzzy, mine "pretty petals" one have glitter finish and i was so happy to know this cause it was the last one where i bought it and i really wanted it to be glitter one. and i think that series 2 more detailed inside, maybe different people designed them or something like that. and now i want a ginnie one so bad its gorgeus
I was referencing their official checklist on their website. I wish they had photos of the variations. I know I got some glitter ones, and I think a metallic one too? But not sure what the fuzzy ones look like.
yeah right i completely forgot about metallic ones. i think i saw fuzzy one somewhere they should be flocked with matching colors (matching plastic i mean) guess its nice to touch and looks pretty cause glitter ones for example can be a little too much like mine covered in glitter from top to bottom its almost flaking lol
I got three of these recently, I love the bubble spa. I´m loving these more than the new polly (stick) pockets , i'm thinking of collecting more

The Great Bakes Cupcapes color Scheme of blue pink and yellow is making me think of Pinkie Pie from MLP. Like the first thing I said when I saw the compact was just Pinkie Pie

I love your content! I have one Lil' secrets and I want to add more later, they are so similar to vintage PP.
I'm only missing two more of the lockets and they're so hard to find. I agree, they're very similar to the vintage Pollies.
I have the one of the garden, but mine is covered with a velvet-like texture. I also get anxious that the stickers for the lock may fall off! I bought it because it came with a hibiscus shopkin, hibiscus is my favorite flower. I'm so lucky I got the hisbiscus, because I later learned that there are two possible shopkins in each set! The sunflower is cute too though, but I would have died if I hadn't got the Hibiscus. I also have the mermaid one, it's so cool, I have a bubble shopkin in that one. It took me a while to realize there are different textures and different shopkins. I prefer just the flat matte texture but they're all super pretty. 😁

Take some lessons makers of polly pocket!!
Paint a cute little dot or heart on the compact and the edge of the combination wheels, that line up when they’re in the open position? That would be a cute way to know how to open it in case anything happened to the stickers

dont worry about the stickers wearing off mine did but there is a printed star on the combonition underneath the stickers so its all good :D

I love these so much😻. But I wish they would vary the skin tones on the shopkins. They seem to change the color of Hair and clothes but why not the skin? Even the vintage Polly pocket sets had some black characters..just something I’ve noticed. Still super cute though.
I've noticed that as well. I think with some characters they did "alienesque" skintones like gray/lavender but they should definitely add deeper skintones.
In the teeny lockets they have the darker characters

I think Bubbleisha is called that because she has a bubblegum theme, but yea it's a random choice for the hair salon lock 😂
Have you also seen the shops/little house versions? - Lil Secrets Shops. I also have those and they're super pretty and reminiscent of the vintage Polly Pockets 😊 loved the video xx
Nice! I didn't know glitter was rare. I'm actually thinking of applying glitter to some of them using glitter Mod Podge. I've seen the little houses and they're super adorbs.
Kerchie not sure if you got these with checklists but on each one it tells you the rare variation. Some rares are metallic; some are glittery; the pet shop rare is furry lol 💕 xx
I got the checklist from their website. I don't think I got a furry one, but I did get a metallic Shopkin. That one was pretty!

I bought my faves for these larger compacts, but I’m so sad they quickly did away with them and the lockets. It seemed they fazed this whole concept out because I have not seen anything new in almost a year T^T Still waiting for a full rainbow themed Polly in anything

I think they bungled the launch tbh. Usually this company has smoother rollouts and better advertising. They probably didn’t sell well as a result and they just decided it wasn’t worth continuing, especially since these are probably more expensive to produce than other lines. They’re also soooo similar to the vintage Polly Pockets and Mattel did do that anniversary launch right around the same time these hit the market. There could have been a cease and desist letter we don’t know about.
I wasn't into toys yet at that time, but I can see how Mattel would overshadow them. Such a shame because I love these so much.
Between polly pocket and this brand, which do you think have better quality and concept? I always heard about shopkin this n that but never wanted to try them before because I had this weird notion that this brand is just copying polly pocket concept and do a cheap unimaginative copy at that. Your showcase is the first time I saw any shopkin "insides" 😳😳🙈. Shall I give this brand a try (is it worth it)?

The Shoppies are based off of (most of them) shoppies dolls that already existed. Like Bubbleisha who as a Shoppie Loves bubblegum.
I would one day love one of those life-sized shoppies. But that would open up another web of collections 😂

That would be so awesome! I'm really hoping we get a series eventually thats also like... just little house-like designs? Similar to how a lot of the old polly pockets were. I know the characters are called shoppies, so each lock/locket is a shop technically (save for a few, that are less of a shop and more just a theme), but i think it'd be really cute if we got some eventually that were more like little living spaces. Could call it a Slumber Party series or something haha (similar to how we have just the regular locks, and then the second wave was Party Pop-Ups)
Along with that, I'd also like to get some boy shoppies eventually as well. It would be cute for some of the couple themed Locks and Lockets (primarily the "Lovely Hearts Garden Party" Lock and "Picnic Dreams" Locket)
I agree! More themes please! And I think Shopkins do have house-like sets, like Pollyvilles. I haven't collected them yet.

Maybe I've just been really unlucky but I've had two of these now with internal damage - chipped paint in one in several places and a scratched/cut graphic in the other. I really love the design otherwise but was left feeling a bit disappointed by this.

hi, i was just wondering, how do u think these compare to the polly pocket compacts (old/new)?
I think they're better than the new Polly Pockets because the characters have the hinge and the design of the compacts inside and out are prettier. Even though the most recent Pollies are super cute (llama, narwhal, etc.), Shopkins are just slightly prettier and feel better quality. I still think the vintage ones win overall!

I got one of these with a label saying its interior is a surprise, so I got one and when I open, it was awful, so awful I don't want to look at it, I have to gave it away. The whole interior is painted with gold dust so messily, is so painful to my eyes. It just look like someone dump a pack of gold dust in it and done, that's it, like ewww, is so uglily done. My worst experience in toy purchase ever. I hope I have gotten one without those messy lazy gold dust. I got so disappointed with that purchase. No more surprise for me, not ever gonna buy any toys where the box is closed.
Some of the glitter ones do look cheap and tacky 😭
