I grew up with the Pollys that were 2” tall and had rubber clothes (moving on to when they had magnetic clothes) many shoes were lost 😅😂
Aw, I feel kinda sorry for you. Those were the lame ones. What made Polly special was how teeny tiny everything was... then the 00s rolled around and I guess they got scared about kids swallowing the small parts. 🙄
Samantha Port yeah. I’d actually never known about how the toys originally were until last year
Grew up with these ones too, and the Disney princesses were just like this. Then my youngest cousin came and she chewed all of our clothes up and occasionally swallowed them. That ended the buying of those for my sister, cousin (younger cousins older sister), and I. We were heart broken, she knew what she was doing.
Same lol
i grew up with that type of polly pocket too! i had a pool party set with inflatable pool and polly's hair changed colour in cold water. i didnt know about the original Polly Pocket until recently
Does anyone else think the box is unnecessarily HUGE?? 😂
Totally! It could have been packaged much smaller.
Very 80s or 90's unnecessary packaging
For the people that don't
That’s the idea, be unnecessarily contaminating
Niamh Major I believe it was designed to be like a display box for collectors and long time fans
But they also made it accessible for anyone who wanted to use the toys
I grew up in the early 2000s and I played with both the pocket-sized polly pockets and the 2” polly pockets with changeable clothes. I also had this specific set and I loved it so much this brings me joy and I can smell this weird old rubber smell while watching this 😂
I honestly love how you describe every detail. The blind community would be so thankful for someone like yourself. I’m not blind myself but sometimes I just listen to your stuff when falling asleep and I can literally imagine everything down to t almost just hearing how you describe everything. It must be so appreciated.
sdlakjd blind person here, this message is approved. Thank you !
Ren Racey did someone type this for you or did you manage to type by yourself? I don’t mean to be rude, just asking.
NightShade Gacha you can do that with the dictation mode 😉, you can even add emojis. Try it it’s fun!
NightShade Gacha they have programs that help them read text and write text. A voice will read out words and tell you the letter your about to type and the word you wrote.
sdlakjd LOL I am completely blind and I was going to comment that I really appreciate her videos because she describes everything so perfectly… But then you did it for me :-) awesome!
I grew up with the 2000s Polly Pockets so I was really confused at first lol
Haha I get that a lot
@@NexJen the original 90s ones were the best! You could take it anywhere and had more rooms than any Barbie house lol. My sister in law has all of hers to this day but her daughter played with the ones with rubber clothes which was awful to get on and off the kid she really struggled with them. I'd Rather do anything but help her take on or off those clothes! lol
SAME
@@constantine9142 oh my god so true, the rubber clothes were a pain in the neck. I don't know what they were thinking
Same
I had the 2 inch Polly pocket and that kind. I remember when I dropped Polly down the sink I cried.
I'm sorry but I laughed my as* off reading that
@@vince-0923 same
Did you get another one?
Am I the only one thinking the 30 was actually a Polly pocket play set? No, ok just me.😤🤧
Nope. I got excited, and my hopes were dashed as well.
Me neither i thought it was real
Things like this make kids disappointed and parents (or maybe kids, too 🙈) who care about the environment angry 😡😳
Me too 😩😔✊
They could of made the three a river with boats on it .
Idk why CZcams put this to my recommended list but I BADLY WANT TO HAVE THAT
Omg, me too! I feel like I might need to ask for this for my 30th birthday, lol.
Same heeereeee 😭😭😭😭
I had so many Polly Pockets sets like 20 years ago... Why did I give them away...? WHY??? 😭
I was just thinking this :( I’m so sad :’(
I had loads and my mum made me give them away. I kept telling her I wanted to keep them :(
Can completely relate. I had this set and quite a few others too. Lost them(and a bunch of other toy collectibles) due to some unfortunate circumstances. I love watching videos like this for some great nostalgia though.
I gave some of mine away and it's the biggest regret in my live 😂😭
I still about 4 sets from the 90s (mansion, treehouse, pollyville home, rose) but none of them are the traditional compact. I remember having 2 compacts & I wish I could remember exactly what they looked like so I could look them up. I think one was a star but looking online nothing rings a bell. One of the best toys. When the rubber clothes came out years later I remember wanting them...actually I still want to test it out. I have some Barbies too. I'll probably get rid of most but keep a couple.
2019 is "too kiddish" and too pink and blue... I like how older toys are more "mellow" i guess...
Same
Yeah
Pink and blue are my favourite colours so it was perfect to me 😊
I had the 2000 Polly pocket set. She was a bigger version and I loved it because she had rubber clothes and shoes that you could change 😍 my favourite childhood toy
Same! I remember the shoes were always really tiny so I was super careful with them at all times. I still have my complete set up until this day uwu
Shen Wow I remember playing those with my little sister and being fascinated by the amount of rubber clothes that she had, I would get sad whenever I ripped the clothes on accident :(
I used to play with those with my cousin when we were just a little bit younger than now, and she thinks that just because she just turned into a teenager she’s too old for them :(
Same I still have them all!
you describing what all the colors and patterns are is like me doing the "qualitative data" segment of the science lab
Oh man, such a huge amount of nostalgia swept over me while watching this. Polly Pocket was one of my favourite toys as a kid. It’s so nice to see her at her proper size again!
I grew up in the 90s and our Polly pocket when they were actually a pocket size toy, is why it’s call Polly pocket. The dolls were plastic and as tall as our thumb nail. I miss those. I had the 92’ heart pocket
Thanks for the creative packaging use ideas! I would've never thought to use things as templates or molds. I love your channel Jen! 🙌
Yes, you could use polymer or airdry clay to make non edible ones for decorations. Cool idea Jen.
It's so great! I watch some people who I love, don't get me wrong but a lot of them say they gonna keep the packaging and use it and they never do... Makes me sad. But Jen actually did it!!! That's a great example of a youtuber who is an awesome person. Instead of saying empty words like 'I may use this in the future...' she just actually does it 😊
@@malegirlboss I love to reuse things. Sometimes I save them and say I'll find a use and do it but don't have a reason to show it. Or sometimes I haven't used it yet and still hope to. I love when I can come up with something and actually show off what I've done ... Maybe it'll inspire others.
@@NexJen you are an amazingly beautiful young lady and your videos are so amazing and awesome. I hope you keep up with your amazing and awesome videos. I love your videos. Can we be bffs please?
why am i here, why did i watch the entire thing.
Damn you marketing algorithms i want to find my polly pocket.
Hahahah
Looking for that on Amazon
A new old Polly pocket
Makes sense to me
Agree
Same.
When you realize polly pocket came out when you were 2 😭 am I officially vintage?!😂
I'm the same age as polly pocket.. 😁
I love the way you reuse packaging! Not only is it great to find a purpose for things that would otherwise go to waste, but it also encourages creativity and imagination in a way that I think most toys these days don't.
Keep up the great work, Jen! ❤️
yess
I’m 11 and my mum use to play with Polly pockets and she’s 36
Omg first of all, I absolutely loved the tool Polly skirt XD and secondly, the cake turned out so cute! That's a great way to reuse the awesome packaging. Tbh, if you started making more diy crafty type videos I'd definitely watch😁
Randomly came across this. Stayed to the end. Wasn’t disappointed
OMG THAT IS SOOO NEAT!!!! I love it!! And you did GREAT with the cake decorations!!!
Hi Jen, I wanted to say how much Ive been loving that you started adding so much more of your creativity into the videos lately! Making decorations, reusing packaging for a brand new diy play set... I love it so much!!! Its so sweet, entertaining and fun to watch. And I wanted you to know that it is being appreciated! You put so much effort and people can learn how to do something creative, fun and how to upcycle. This channel becomes more and more awesome!
Thank you Leon!!!!
Great job on the cake decor! The Polly one came out so well. I wish they would make more Polly Pockets like this. There is so much fun things they could do! Someone needs to go poke or whack them with a stick and wake them up. (Speaking of waking up, it just hit me that I am two years older than Polly. Getting old..)
I still have the older pink polly pocket compact at home! Anyone has any idea how much it’s worth is right now?😂🤣
I'm in love with your knowledge of Polly Pocket 😍 thank you so much for so much detail about everything in the booklet
Hi there. So glad some of my weird knowledge can be helpful haha.
I don't know why this was recommended to me, but I got major flashbacks watching this video. The memories that flooded back when you opened your original was mind-blowing. I had that one. I played with it all the time. Now I feel old lol
I always wanted Polly pockets when I was a child, but we were too poor to afford them. I’m going to have to purchase this one!
Same!
I totally feel ya!
I had two but they were second hand, without box or accessories, only the things glued to the "pocket", still fun.
I love this. People our age seem to do this alot. I got into Pokemon last year with my son. We could afford the cards when I was a kid, now we have a massive collection and actually play the game :-)
You do that! And be proud!
I have that exact polly pocket!! The 90's toys ma gad!!😣
You are amazing at the candy melt decorations! I can’t believe how steady your lines were. Thank you for the super fun video!
🤗 thank you. It turned out better than I expected hahaha . So glad you enjoyed the video ❤️
Your love for Polly is so pure 😭😭😭
UGH WE STAN A QUEEN, THANKS FOR ALL YOUR VIDEOS AND YOUR CREATIVITY, YOU DESERVE MOREEE 💞✨💞
Jen your videos make me so happy after a long day! The quarantine is getting to me being a half-extrovert half-introvert. Love you Jen!
I had a heart shaped original Polly compact...I have no idea where it went....I now feel old though. Currently binge watching all your videos :)
The amount if people in the comments that say they thought Polly was supposed to be the 2'' 2000s one makes me sad. Lol!
I love how much of a Polly nerd you are 😭😍
The mansion will always be my fave. I got it from my babysitter as a kid. She told me she saved all her birthday money for it haha. I think it was $30. (She told me last year when I found them in my mom’s classroom and posted them on FB)
What an amazing babysitter!!
Hi Jen! I just found out about you channel today. I love that you review the toys in detail and don’t act like a child while doing it, yelling about “ITS CUTE RIGHT!!” I also love that you recycle what you can, I’m big on recycling. Your videos make me happy and laugh, I love your sense of humor.
Hi, I'm so glad you enjoy my videos. So glad to have you here 🤗
Tape-inated is now going into my vocabulary when I do that technique. The decorations looked awesome!
Hahah I tapi-nate everything
Toys for little kids, especially Polly Pocket always looks like the visual representation of candy. So it's very appropriate you turned her into candy.
I loooved those cakedecorations you made! So imcredibly cute and fun and creative! Ahhh!!
Man I used to love polly pocket, I had a lot of the bigger sets with the rubber clothing
I have all those rings! I'm nearly 40 and I'm still obsessed with these tiny treasures
Maybe if this sells well, they might make more reproductions? It's a stretch but you never know
Man that would make me so happy! Before they can see how well it does though, they'll have to put them in stores... Apparently they aren't available almost anywhere yet 😰
GreatBigToyBox i was just about to ask you where I can get this , I would absolutely love to have this
I hope sooooo!!!!
Ashley Bows amazon
Ahh! A childhood toy.
If you haven't played with ATLEAST ONE Polly Pocket toy, you have a very sad childhood 😂😂😂
She gave me a new heart! Yasssssss tysm
(Bc my heart is broken 😂)
What you did with the candy melts is so awesome. It would be a really nice piece with silicone or resin to keep as an decoration. Love the detailed video.
Great idea, my knowledge of resin isn't great though. If need to practice
I've still got my starlight castle Polly pocket! 😄
I love this so much!!! They need to bring back the old Polly Pocket playsets... Like ALL of them... lol!
Hey!, been watching you since the start, I’ve watched her since 25th of June 2015, watching her helped me relax after my dad and grandfather past away, and I have watched every single video ever since so can I say thank you Jen ❤️
*edit:* ohh my goshh SHE NOTICED MEEEE, thank you soo much, you always make me smile
*edit edit:* and I oop- it’s gone, happy while it lasted 🤗
That hurts that happened to me before
Mystic Fawn agree
Omg, I only knew the polly pockets from 00's and didn't knew they looked so different in the 90's... that was some drastic change
I love this!!! You are so creative!!! I hope this inspires more classic Polly pockets from Mattel!
I have no idea how i ended up in this video but i must say are so thorough! It's very refreshing. I hope people appreciate your work.
I used to play the Polly pocket game on the computer and I search it up now and it’s completely different and I’m kinda upset I liked the old one
Same. 😩
Tophat The hat wearing boi i know how you feel!! i was the same way when the american girl website changed and didn’t have the old games on it anymore. to my surprise they’re actually still out there! if you can find the direct old address of the games, they’re still there. the site just doesn’t have links to them. they’re floating out there on the internet !
If you search carefully you can find the old games in the page
Trust me👽
SAME
It took me SO long to pause with the tool skirt on my screen, I couldn't even see what it was (I have poor vision) lol, now that I look at it, wow, you gave me a pun idea for later
That cake decorations idea was so creative, cute, aesthetically pleasing and yummy!! Love it! 😍
I like that you get right to the point with these toys. I'm easily annoyed of skipping through vids to find the start of the reason why I clicked on the video in the first place
Your descriptions are very thorough too which is nice. I subscribed after watching this video. Right after watching that awesome Polly Pocket super set vid 😍😍
"Everything about it screams *Jenn* "
Sold.
Edit: The decorations came out so great!!! Extra love for that! ❤❤❤
I love Smiling out loud, but around here SOL means "Sh@t out of luck" 😂
Hahha yes it means the same here lol I forgot about that at the time 😂🤣
Oh my goodness! Nostalgia! I had a PollyPocket with a ballerina when I was little and cried for a week when I lost Polly Ballerina!
I was a huge fan of Polly Pocket! I asked my parents for a full doll of Polly Pocket and they bought it for me. I even had an account on her website and played on it everyday.
Am I the only girl who has never ever had a single thing related to Polly pocket or any Polly pocket toy
Mia Guadarrama no, we are together, dear 😭
Me too :'(
Me to 😭😭😭😢😢
The nostalgia is so real right now. The starlight set was one of my favorites!
I heard about Polly Pocket and I wanted to know what it was. Now that I watched you video, I finally know. Thank you Jen, keep up the good work.
The older one's plastic has more definition and details. I like that it's also all one piece of plastic that's painted rather than individual colored plastic pieces inserted.
Yaaas! This is an amazing video. Absolutely loved it, Jen! Keep it up ❤️❤️
I just found your channel bc of Polly pocket. Let’s just say, I have been watching every video you have and even went to look up your old channel. I’m addictive to your videos now, so yay I am part of the bee 🐝 family
This was soooo cute!! I would love it if you did like crafting/cooking videos like this! I think it was so creative how you made those cake decorations!
I totally just bought the 30th anniversary edition! I LOVED Polly Pocket growing up and wish I still had mine from the 90s!
Thanks so much for the comparisons
Am I the only one who prefers the old version?
I can't wait to buy this!!!!
I have a complete Pollyville full village on permanent display in the spare room (complete with a beach, trees, fairground, caravan park for the On The Go vehicles and a snowy mountain for the cabin) and the day my bf set 3 packages from Ebay down on the couch beside me and just said- 'surprise' I nearly fainted because inside was the 100% complete childrens hospital, the bowling alley and the nursery with an intact playhouse roof.
BIG brownie points scored there!
great video :)))
Sound's like they are a keeper!
Alexa Faie my original super set has been with me since I was a kid and has survived moving houses several times and my boyfriend knew how much it meant to me and started getting me ones I was missing when we moved in together he even made me a table to paint up like a town and shelves above for the compacts :)
Oh nooo
I had 2 sets when i was a kid still
One had a house, with a tree you could open, a small lake in the center and a horse's house. The other one was a box like the one in this video with a jungle and a cave that was like a slide.
Now looking at this back again i regret selling those ;-; maybe they are worth a bit more and i miss playing with them.
Oh wow, I'm having so many flashbacks now!! These toys were my childhood!
Usually with Mattel the box date is the production date and the release date was the following year. 👍🏼
Super cute. I use to do that same technique with buttercream for cakes. Thanks for moving to the table for this one. I love the close ups. My old eyes don't see so well any more.. haha My niece loved Polly Pockets. I use to get them for her every holiday. Her mom hated them. She's now married and having a baby of her own, and still has all her Polly Pockets. I might just have to make these decorations for her, just for the heck of it.
I remember having the teal inside as a kid. And i prefure that color pattern then the pink and walled one.
Its somewhat more "natural" or real looking.
@@ricebeansrockroll882 also for the kids toys directed towards girls. They have a lot of pink and purple toned items.
Honestly I love this, and have soo much respect for you for all the detail and taking the time to explain it all, and the lil ckae added in. So thank you for this I've loved Polly since I was a lil girl, so this is amazing to see💗
So Polly is a year older than me!
I honestly came across this video by accident but i'm now invested and need to watch the entire video to see the comparison. Also, you could make anything sound more interesting from just your description, its such a cool skill!
Aw thank you so much ❤️
And i love your videos and do more polly pocket diy and diy lil secrets and wait for more lil secrets polly pocket house
I am so happy your channel is growing so fast. You are a much needed honest voice in the world of toys, education and CZcams.
🤗❤️ thank you. These comments are my favourite
😍 we should totes be friends lol. i love the creativity of making candy melt decorations for a cake! i would never have thought of that!
i guess i am just so used to picking up predecorated cakes at the store 😥
but, i love this polly keepsake and i honestly like the newer one a lil bit more. i think it's the particular color combo that appeals to me a bit more. also the new stickers add a bit more life to the scene; like the living room and window.
also, i am 2 years older than polly. XD sep 3rd 1986. ooooh yeah XD
@sopxyz gamer Old farts of youtube unite!!! 🤣🤣🤣
i joke a lot about my age, dun be offended or upset lol.
I grew up with both! My parents got many of my toys at a flea market (is it written like this?). I feel so old now but I have to admit that my childhood was great!
I remember that Polly Pocket from 1992 the castle and dang i think i still have it 🤣
AHHH I HAD THAT ONE! Gosh thats bringing back so many memories of my mothers HUGE polly pocket collection, which included starlight castle, two magical moving pollyvilles (one broken), the clock in blue, a bunch more and also a giant pink on with a heart shaped compact.
Does anyone still collect old polly pockets? I have about 70 that I’m looking to get rid of😂
Your descriptions are really well done. My sister is blind (we grew up playing with these Polly Pockets (she still has the figures for every compact we had :)) and she would have no problem seeing exactly what's there in her head. (She's 30 in Nov and I'm 31...this was our jam back in the day)
The Starlight Castle playset was my all-time favourite one I had. I loved the fake wall behind the knight and the swan figures that came with it.
Now this is a real Polly Pocket fan
Oh this made me cry. I haven't thought about Polly Pocket in years but now I'm reminded of how happy I was as a kid when I played with these. I was always looking forward to getting a new one from my mum, playing along happily, completely unaware of all the problems and sadness I'd have to face later in life. If only I could go back to this time...😔
I had the 1996 set and let me tell you, that tree had a distinct smell. It's also very bendable Sadly it stayed in Nova Scotia and I'm in California.
Oh hey, fellow Nova Scotian:D
@@beesworkshop6594 hello. I haven't lived there in years but I'm sure my toy is still up there somewhere ^‐^
My first time watching an unboxing in years. I think my favorite parts would be your text commentary. Some people just focus too much on being overly cheerful and quirky in these types of videos, so the humor an slip ups were a really nice change. I'd love to see even more of your kind of humor in videos like this.
I love you so much.
I woke up at 4am just to watch you
Omgosh hahah sleep first
GreatBigToyBox never! >:3
My niece is several years older than my daughter and gave me daughter all of her Polly compacts from the 90’s. A huge bin full of them! When my daughter was younger, that is all her friends wanted to play with when they came over...even the boys! They much preferred the tiny Bluebird Polly’s to the bigger Mattel ones.
When I was a kid my polly pocket was a tiny compact and we couldn't change the cloths lol I am about to turn 30 ... this is giving me nostalgia
Omg I had that light up one from 1992!
this is way more in depth than i was looking for lol
I have that playset! I always wondered what some of the things were XD
This is so cool! You're really creative, Jen!
The set is just like the original, and the decorations you made were super cute!
Happy 30th, Polly 🎉🎂🎈
Fantastic! love your creativity. Brought back so many memories (I was born in 93, sister was born in 91).
I remember my mom had a ton of these Pollys that she gave to me as a kid, I kinda grew up on them. We had this big Cinderella castle with a tiny little spot for her house and you could put the Pollys in the ballroom and do a little spinny thing on the side and make them dance. I miss when everything was that simple.
I was a 2000 baby so there’s a certain line of Polly Pockets I prefer, but I wish I’d have had one of these.
same. the ones that were like an inch or 2 tall, plastic, rubber clothes and shoes. remember the change from solid plastic hair to faux hair? that threw me so much. did you ever have the cruise ship?
insert name yes, i loved it 😍
Kayla Carter Graphics i loved the cruise ship so much! i remember the colour-changing towels and just being in awe lol
