As sad as Amy’s story is, I have to applaud the creators for how original it is. When I saw the stair well, I expected them to do the trope of “messed up kid pushes someone down a flight of stairs”. Instead, they went with how his actions of making her drink caused her to kill herself. In a way, it’s much more horrifying as it emphasizes just how young Amy is. I mean, what child hasn’t imagined they could fly?
EXACTLY!! The innocence of her character and her being a child in general is so devastating but so crucial to the plot of the game

It also allows Jimmy to progress at a more gradual pace. Instead of just starting off as a murderer, it starts with a story where it's not clear whether or not Jimmy really meant for his victim to die. Then he escalates into full killer over the course of the story.

I want to be fair and say he's in a brightly lit room while the bathroom was dark. The angle of the light could shed light over Maya's eyes, causing them to shine. That or anything reflective she might have (ex: the scrying mirror, compass, or device) if she had them out. However, all of this could be moot if he _opened the door._

I really like how the ghosts aren't evil like they are in most horror games. It makes them feel more like they were actual people rather than just demons. The communication aspect is really interesting, too.
Exactly. Ghosts as friendly helpers and the evil part is another human. This is a really nice twist (even if those ghosts so jump scares, that's just in their nature i guess)

1. Jimmy stole Amy's purse and took money from it so that he can play the games in the arcade.
2. When Amy confronted him about it, he took her teddy bear and doused it in Turpentine.
3. He gave the teddy bear back to her and then lit it on fire while it was still in her hands, which ended up burning her.
4. She wanted to tell the doctor about her burns but he threatened her with a sword to get her to stay.
5. He gave her alcohol and said that it would make her feel better, making her drink a lot.
6. She got so drunk and felt that she was light enough to jump down the stairs safely so she jumped off the banister and ended up accidentally killing herself.
That is sad

That doesn't seem like an entirely good thing. if Jimmy's ai can move around so well I'd worry it becomes cumbersome to deal with him when you're playing a point-and-click.
@@pokemon05100 Yeah, it's kinda annoying but it's different. Reminds me of the AI in Alien: Isolation, but not quite. There's a good playthrough by John Wolfe on YT that I think sums up the good and the flaws.

He won't directly go after you, only when you make a move, like turning around or moving forward. He's more of a sneak attack type so he's gonna hide around a corner and try to jump you. You'll usually see his head peeking around the corner, or his shadow hiding around the corner. If you see that you usually wanna go hide somewhere, cause if you don't pass him, he'll loop around and try to get you from behind.

Honestly, I feel like Jimmy is actually enjoying this like a kid playing with a "friend". He KNOWS you are there. You can see how directly he stares at the player when we're inside the wardrobe/bathroom. If you're inside the wardrobe, sometimes he will hide in the bathroom to catch you instead of just... You know, opening the doors and doing it. If he sees you inside the bathroom, I guess it's random. Sometimes he will kick the door, sometimes not. But anyway, he doesn't kill you even if he gets you 847 times. I'm pretty sure he's just enjoying his time and having a blast chasing you around.

But still nonetheless I love this character, always chasing you around opening doors, looking through hidden places and us as a player looking through the peephole and keyhole before leaving or entering, locking the door behind us, just the little details that make this game even more fun and enjoyable.

Honestly Maya’s breathing is what scares me most. Not only does it just sound creepy but it feels so real. Like she sounds as out of breath as anyone would be if they had been running from a killer.

I am absolutely pleased with the voice acting in this game! The voice of Amy is exactly how I'd imagine the voice of a ghost of a girl that died at 10 years of age! Just the way she speaks, her tonation, everything! Perfect, down to a T
9:11 There was a footstep that Mark didn't hear; Jimmy was right behind him. I don't know exactly why this sometimes happens where the music builds up higher and higher, but it basically means that Jimmy is standing at your position next or behind you ready to swing his bat at you if you turn around.

I wonder what happened to his spastic saving, which he used to have when he was playing mad Father and The Witch's House.
@@CazaliEiben I think he isn't pressured to save as often in this game. Being caught doesn't end the game, it just sets him back a little. In those other games, death will take you back to your last save. Absolutely loved his playthrough of those two games though. I kind of wish he would play the newer version of the witch's house, though it is likely not going to happen.

trying to rewatch this for the second time and it's so hard bcuz even though I've already seen it, it still makes me extremely tense and terrified. It's why I love this game so much, no other scary game has made me continue to feel like it's my first time watching it. I just love how it brings out the instinctual fear of being chased down and not knowing where they are

i think the things about this game that make it so nerve-wracking is the fact that it's quite literally an ACTUAL person that's out to get you, he both is, acts, and is like a real person too
the hiding mechanics in this game are golden aswell! i like the whole deadlock system as i have no clue if you guys know but when hiding in, for example, the bathroom, there is no guarantee he'll pass by as he can still notice you and hit you
so the whole deadlock being the only true way to avoid getting bonked is quite smart
Me finishing this episode: I have a strange feeling that when Mark becomes a father he's not allowing his children near banisters...

@Dreamsmp Weeb It's implied that Jimmy as a kid wasn't necessarily intending to kill anyone (mostly). A lot of his actions as his other persona were intended to be meanspirited pranks, but they ended up getting others hurt amd Jimmy himself had too little empathy due to his mental illness to understand that what he was doing was actively causing lethal harm to others around him.

The doctor said Jimmy the _kid's_ drawings showed his dark imagination went "much farther than he could have guessed" so I'm thinking he showed violent intent as a kid. Messed up kids don't necessarily always understand that harming someone is inherently wrong. 😔😔😔

I had a nightmare about this game the other day, long story short, I dreamed that I had escaped the hotel and ran into a town, screaming that Jimmy was a killer, but no one believed me. Eventually, Jimmy showed up and tried to take me back to the hotel, stating that I was sick and that I didn't know what I was talking about.
If a horror game literally gives you nightmares, then you know it's a good game XD
