DJI Mavic 3 RC Pro vs RC N1 range comparison in CE countries

- The DJI RC Pro is advertised to have a much better connection with the Mavic 3, when compared to the standard RC-N1 controller. When looking at the specs, the transmitted power is much higher than that of the RC-N1... in FCC mode. So, what's the difference between the two controllers in CE countries like countries in Europe? That's what we tried out in this video.
The results are a bit disappointing...: the RC Pro has a marginally better connection than the RC-N1. But in practice, we could only get about 1 km (less then a mile!) undistorted video connection. Which is of course good enough for VLOS flights. So, for the range and quality of the connection, you don't need the RC Pro in CE countries. It's only the ease of use (eliminating a display device), the sharp display with high brightness and the extra buttons that you pay the $ 1,299 / € 999 for. - Věda a technologie
In CE Countries both RC1 standard controller & RC Pro are both 20dBm or 100mw, in FCC mode the RC-Pro is 33dBm 1995mw & the RC1 is 26dBm 398mw so to summarize in CE countries they are the same power output, in FCC countries the RC-Pro is 5 times stronger in power output.
Well done Gentlemen! Thank you for this comparison.
Excellent video thanks for the info.
Great video!
I live in Greece (CE) and I made a range test just once and I got 8000 meters without problem and it could go more but Ipresseed RTH. I have the standard remote
Bedankt voor de test! Waarom is fcc niet toegestaan in de EU? Dat is toch ook veiliger met een sterk signaal? En kun je de rc pro niet upgraden van ce naar fcc?
Hello, on the DJI RC N1 can you program automatic flights with external applications whit the Mavic 3?
Looking at position of your antennas they seem to be in 90 degree position you need to go to approx 70 degree for optimal signal transfer. Check your manual .
Nice Video Thank You 👍 and a New Abonnent, grüße Michael
Good information 👍 new to your channel sir thanks for sharing 🤝 stay connected
Droneelook-how are you?! Like it- amazing ! 👽
Good job gentle men and happy new year from the USA. I ordered the RC pro controller to do one these test for my personal findings. There is a few places where I have break ups using the RC N1 controller. Want to see if it would be the same with the RC pro. If it’s not I will keep the RC pro, but if it does the same as the RC N1 controller I will be sending it back.
In urban areas with some disturbing connection factors the Rc pro's range seems to be slightly better. Other than that the range is (almost) the same. That can be expected because both controllers support the 03+ transmission system. Also the RC-N1.
In the USA (FCC), you should have a much stronger signal from the RC Pro, given the additional power it has.
@@hansgeurtsen We shall see when I get the RC Pro this week, I am hoping that it does according to the specs, if not I am sending it back lol.
@@mr02gixxer1000 Did you send it back?
@@jaycarl1562 No lol, it’s way better in every way, stronger signal transmission, better controller over the Mavic 3 especially when using the zoom features, when taking photos and videos, the RC pro is what the Mavic 3 should have come with in the first place! Instead of the crippled RC N1 controller, which is better for Mavic mini or air 2 s, but for the Mavic 3 the RC N1 controller take away from the experience you get when using the RC pro controller with the Mavic 3. The RC pro controller just has stronger signal transmission and better control over the features of the Mavic 3.
Hallo
Ik begrijp nu het verschil van een CE land in vergelijk met alle CZcams filmpjes , heb een mini 2 gehad die ook onder de maat presteerde ( 800 mtr) aan de rand van Haarlem
Bedankt voor deze video
Have you also done a test with the rc pro in an easterly direction, so less trouble with the trees? If the standard controller achieves that much more range, it should be with the rc pro too.
Yes, that is what I tested from 6:58. That’s where I am flying east with the RC Pro. We didn’t do that test in comparison to the RC-N1. So the 3.5 km I got there, was with the RC Pro.
@@dronelook9324 Oh then I misunderstood. I thought you guys flew east with the regular controller. Thanks!
Wow, that not even 1/4 of the range of FCC. DJI should be selling the CE version at at 1/4 of the price. That's really bad.
There is no CE version or FCC version that's the same hardware no matter from where you are buying it.
My Dji air 2s with smart controler v.1 have this same range
It’s a shame that a flagship unit like this comes without preloaded maps like any other GPS navigation units these days.
I don’t see a purpose of this if I still have to have a phone with me every time I fly.
I would be very disappointed to have this class of drone and only be able to fly this poor distances until the signal drops out.
Thanks for the video gyes. You where flying in the vicinity of some powerlines, could't that causesd he interference as well??
I doubt that. There were no powerlines nearby, you mean the pylon near the highway? And if there were, we were flying at 120 m, which is way above any powerlines. As you can see from some of the other comments, others confirm that the range of the Mavic 3 in CE mode is limited to about 3 km.
@@dronelook9324 I just noticed the powerlines and as you might know the microtesla increases at about 120mm rapidly. There was also a railway along the highway but that couldn't be the point. In this case I think you are right the CE restrictions caused it. Maeby we can boost the signal or improve the reception with some kind of mirror? Thanks anyhow for the info.
i see videos of amazing range on US drones.. but then we get this...
Het komt niet door de bomen maar daar met 2 drones naast elkaar. Dat geeft altijd verlies
☹Can anyone here answer why EC countries oblige to reduce the range of radios and drones?
It is a safety thing and inspired mainly by the mandatory application of the VLOS rule which many operators violate way too easy.
Guys did you not realise you were standing next to an electric fence ? Your going to have interference from that , will defiantly effect your results
Cool, I just wasted £800 on the RC PRO…
