  • Here in SoCal we are luck to have access to live bait. Sardine and Anchovy are the most common and both can be very effective to catch fish. But rigging them correctly is key. In this video, I give four methods to hook live bait. There are many more ways to rig, but these are the most common and four of my go-to hooking methods.

Love the videos dave. Simple and straight to the point. Got myself a riot 12 and stumbled on your videos when looking for info and seeing you hitting the wall, that gave some confidence to get out there myself and give it a go. Also your jigging videos 👌👌 thanks once again brodah.

Probably the most common question asked by newer or occasional anglers on a party boat along with hook, and leader knots.
    Great video Dave!

Thank you Andy! I always hope that some of these simple tips can at least help out an occasional angler or two.

@@DaveysWorldFishing how do I stop the hook from sliding when hooking through the nose? The fish slides up the hook and gets caught on the eye a lot

@@jeffwien6460 it will happen from time to time. One thing is to really try to get it through the cartilage at the very tip.

@@DaveysWorldFishing I went out with a charter captain that used a rubber band to avoid this, but I can’t figure out what he was doing…you know anything about using a small rubberband to rig a sardine through the nose?

Going out to the Tanner bank on Thursday with the vagabond. Lots of fish being hit on the butt hook. Do you think a shoulder hook would work good out there? Thank you great video

My go-to is always the butt hook. Key is getting the bait away from the boat. Find that hot bait and should be good to go. Good luck out there!
