  • Captain Dave Hansen on a quick video on How to fish for yellowtail using the surface irons. Surface iron fishing is a West Coast style type of fishing with long rods with smooth-casting conventional reels. This is a great technique to fish for yellowtail, yellowfin tuna, bluefin tuna, and even Calico bass.

    Is that a Cavalla 12ii? It looks like a good reel. Thanks for your advice on not striking a "dog-boning" take but rather retrieving faster. I caught a lot of 40"-50" YT and dorado on my last trip, but I missed a good number of strikes by making that mistake.

    Ahoy Captain, you indicate that the Tady 45 Wounded soldier weighs less than an ounce. I have been looking for that specific Tady 45 Wounded soldier but the lightest i've seen them are 2.9oz. Can you confirm it is LESS THAN AN OUNCE?.. If so, Do you know any shop who carries them? Thanks in advance.

    Great videos man. Have a question if you don’t mind. All my ocean fishing has been central coast rock fishing. Next season I want to venture south for slightly bigger. Would like to do some overnight trips maybe even a 3 day. I only have a Diawa Lexa 400 and the smaller 300. Is that going to be to undersized for YT and Dorado? I have 65lb braid with 40lb mono but would be easy to up the top shot. Thanks man.

    • @alexfernandes7336
      @alexfernandes7336 Před 2 lety +2

      I think for yellowtail and dorado (and even yellowfin tuna) the 400 will work perfect. If you use a 20-30 lb flouro leader with that you will do well as long as you have your drag set right.

    • @YourSaltwaterGuide
      @YourSaltwaterGuide  Před 2 lety +3
