@@techinrl9869 I agree that Mac OS on iPad would be a bad idea because unless your using the iPad in the laptop form factor it would be a worst experience in pretty much every way. What if apple were to allow the iPad to run Mac applications in like a sandbox environment? So like if I wanted to use the Mac version of photoshop or Lightroom because it has substantially more features than the iPad version I could just download the mac DMG file and run it in a isolated sandbox environment. It wouldn’t hurt the experience of iPad users who like the iPad the way it is but makes the IPad far more useful for people who like the iPad form factor but want to use applications that they use on there Mac. I don’t see any reason why it couldn’t happen since the iPad pros use the same chips that are on the Mac

@@colindavidch Apple doesn’t ship bad experiences, at least not intentionally. They’ve got macOS running on iPads. Federighi said that years ago, and he said the experience was pretty bad. That’s why they won’t ship it on iPads, sandboxed or not. People who want it probably won’t want it after they’ve experienced it. I thought I’d like something like that, which is why I invested in other tablets with desktop OS’es such as Surface Pro tablets. That was a huge mistake. The experience was awful. Even if the OS were built with touch in mind, as MS has tried since Vista, the apps aren’t. It’s frustrating enough to want to throw it out a window,

It's true that it's a bit limited compared to a desktop system, but if it's enough for your average usage it's a little beast.

It does not need to run macOS apps, especially since it would gut the battery life and overheat the device along with ditching the security it provides. Apple knows this and wouldn’t sacrifice a device for the tiny minority who for some reason want the iPad to be a laptop, which Apple never promised. It would be fantastic if what you're saying with regards the next generation iPad Pro comes true, but I am still concerned Apple will going botch it. iPad OS 17 has resulted me use my iPad Pro less, than when it was running iPad OS 16. Following EU's Digital Markets Act, I thought it would become easier the sideload apps in iPad OS 17, but in fact it is more difficult. In iPad OS 16 I could side load apps such as Dolphin emulator and UTM, but these apps require "just in time" debugging to run. This officially means tethering your iPad Pro to another Apple device across a LAN, e.g. MacBook ... not a very portable solution. But there was a workaround where you could compile an app could jitterbug, create a pairing key, and then tether the iPad Pro to itself via an internal VPN to iOS developer disk image. OK you would you have to renew the jitterbug pairing key every time there was a software update, but that was a straightforward process. iOS / iPad OS 17 broke the whole way that worked, and so the more interesting stuff I was doing with my iPad Pro to make better use of its hardware capabilities was no longer possible, relegating to become once again a crippled computer in a walled garden of mostly mediocre smart phone apps ... i.e. a big white elephant. Apple would have to do something radical, like Mac OS for iPad Pro, to convince me to spend any more money on a next generation iPad Pro. In the absence of a MacBook with touch screen and stylus support, I will probably purchase a Windows 11 laptop / 2 in 1 / tablet with a Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processor. I am using Windows 11 arm today, so fully aware of its capabilities and limitations, and the limitations are reducing as Microsoft has been making underlying improvements to the OS, x64 emulation, drivers, and developer support. The number of Windows 11 apps with arm64 binaries is also increasing, and the release of new higher performance arm processors for Windows PCs should accelerate that process.

I use my iPad for many things like work related items with Outlook, web surfing, content consumption, games, taking notes, and using my iPad as a second screen for my MacBook. That would be my first major request to finally put MacOS on it but still let us use iPad apps.

I've been wanting to upgrade for a while but it just hasn't been worth it to me yet. I have an iPad from just before the switch to mini LED panels and M1 chips. If they switch to the 3nm architecture and can ensure excellent power with continued excellence in battery life and keep the great screens, it'd finally be worth it to me. It would be a huge help for mobile video editing which I'd be able to do on the DaVinci Resolve for iPad app.

I currently have an M1 MacBook Air and an iPad Air so not really in the market for any new Apple devices at this time. Maybe in the future I would just buy an iPad Pro, but it needs to run the software that I currently use on my MacBook Air, which is not available on iPadOS at this time.

I bought an M1 iPad Pro instead of a MacBook a couple years back because of the cellular modem and the touch screen. Honestly, it does almost everything I need it to do. It is super portable and I don’t regret the purchase, but I won’t buy an iPad again unless you can install 3rd party apps from .dmg (or similar experience), like you can on MacOS. If iPadOS could do that, it would be enough to get me to consider it. Maybe the DoJ lawsuit is what the iPad really needs.

I ended up swapping, on FB Marketplace, my 12.9" iPad Pro 6th gen (cellular) with Magic Keyboard case for a base M2 MacBook Air simply because I was fed up not being able to do the things I really wanted to be able to do. The limitations of iOS on a £1000 device are insane but a £1400 'Pro' model is criminal.

  • @AgathaWhispers

Another possibility is that Apple becomes IPad / MacBook neutral because of the equal treatment for VisionPro. The number of people that would buy an iPad Pro, Mac Pro and Vision Pro is pretty limited. As long as you buy a Vision Pro, they wont care what other flavor you get.

IF Apple made a convertible tablet computer hybrid, it would change the game. Most companies doing this don't do the tablet AND the computer well; when they are combined. I have a feeling that if Apple did it, they would bring the best of both worlds, WELL. And it would get me to trade in my iPad mini (which imo is the perfect tablet form factor) and my 16" MacBook Pro for a 12.9" iPad Pro. Fingers crossed that the patent becomes a reality.

Final Cut FULL version.. even if just possible ... when you dock the tablet to the keyboard or some sort of hardware base.

Hi! Apple should hire you! Cause you bring some hope and great energy!😉
By the way, I hope you will compare the next iPad Pro with the MacBook Air or Pro M3…. 🙏 Will it overheat?
As resources are limited on this planet, Apple should have an all-in-one device that is small, touchscreen, with apps and also with real computer capabilities.
They won’t loose money if people don’t buy a Mac. Instead they will make a lot of cash with all the accessories, they can sell.
If Apple doesn’t make IPadOs “computer friendly”, I seriously consider going back on Android and buying a 2 in 1 Windows computer.
If they miss the boat again this year, well, how many “fans” will turn their back at the brand?
    I’m still waiting… and I keep on dreaming!🙏

I have the 12.9 m1 iPad pro with 1tb/16gb of Ram which has been a great tablet for my business which I do a ton of my photo editing before I transfer them over to my to my Mac PC to finish up the remaining editing. But I seen that Samsung came out with the S9 Ultra and how beautiful the screen was and apple never came out with a new iPad Pro last year I got tired of waiting so I picked up the Samsung S9 Ultra with 16 gigs of RAM and wow that screen is flipping beautiful. And out of everything I do with my iPad Pro I can do with the Samsung and the only issue I have found is the S9 Ultra takes a little bit longer to export the edited photos to a hard drive. But I still like the iPad Pro but this new Samsung S9 Ultra it's doing a lot of the work now. I hope Apple comes out with a larger version than the 12.9 inch version and and it's super powerful. I don't mind music both my iPad Pro and my S9 Ultra cuz I like the best of both worlds. The only issue with the Samsung they don't have a Photoshop app. Yeah I wish they would hurry up and get one out soon. Great Channel love your content

my thoughts: year ago I said I'd buy iPad Pro if it had full MacOS - and that is still same, BUT as you mentioned limitation of iPads is software, nowadays limitation of Apple is the restrictive constantly-changing ecosystem when it comes to any third-party sw/hw compatibility in the long run, which gets really tiring and annoying on a computer-like device - Windows right now is way more flexible and backwards/forwards compatible it's just less pain to use for more complex setups like recording studio or AI development - and if Qualcomm kicks in with ARM chips & Windows for ARM (which btw works amazing in Parallels), then Apple may loose the momentum forever

Apple has plateaued for a few years now. They even made ITunes have different apps, music/movies/tv shows but then it all still goes back to 1 app. They didn’t NEED to separate music/movies/tvshows..it was fine the way it is..and again, it all goes back to 1 app anyway

I am a high end PC Desktop person. I have an original Ipad Pro. My Iphone 13max does everything the Ipad pro does. I don’t want a Macbook because it doesnt do anything different than my Computer, and I don’t need a generic Ipad that does what my iphone can do, with the limitations of No Cell service. If this happened I could justify the upgrade of the original Ipad Pro by having A Mac Tablet because it is so versatile.
