Quick question. Why always autotempest? Are they trustworthy? If yes what other sites are?
Did not know you meant price for car was a steal and not gettin the car have caourt today 😂g35
Who else watches these with no intention to buy any of these but the videos are so good you watch them anyway
I do usually, but I might be in the market for one of these soon.
Me haha! Same with the other vids haha!🎹🎶
Iiterally me 🤣 im happy with my gt350 but still watch these coz theyre good
Meee
I do
Prediction before I watch; No car on this list is actually obtainable for 3K unless it has 200000 or more miles on it.
Man are you psychic!? First car was over 3k (even in their example listing), but if you use their financial tips you're sure to find one under 3k 😂
just a short disclaimer so you don't get your hopes up: if you're on a budget of only $3000 u probably don't want to be spending a lot on gas or maintanence which will be a major issue because it is extremely rare to find a car under $3000 that doesn't have insane miles on it already
Celica is so much more that I thought I was getting. I just bought one about 3 months ago when my 96 cougar died 🤧 but it gets up, I get great mpg, and the parts are ridiculously cheap. Definitely a great starter car for sure. I also picked mine up for 2k
i was looking at celicas too until i came across an 04 g35 sedan with 125k on the dash for around 3.5k. not the best on gas for a daily, but makes up for it in power and torque.
Scotty Kilmer would be proud of y'all 😄
I'd like to hear more about the cougar... candidate for a project
@@Blanton95 definitely a solid car, since it was my first car it was the lowest trim and an automatic, but lowest trim has RWD and a 3.8l FI V6 w/ 145 hp, top trim has RWD and a 4.6L V8 puts out 205 so it’s really a great deal, plus it’s a lot nicer interior than the mustangs of that era imo. What I’m about to do is buy it’s sister car, the Thunderbird SC since those are significantly more available w/ manual, Plus I get a supercharger 😎 I’d recommend the super coupe or the V8 cougar if you’re tryna mess around on that platform, fantastic candidate for a project if you can find one that’s been well taken care of, and they’re cheap as dirt 👍🏼
@@Super.r.radical Thanks for the info, I'll definitely consider this platform for a project. Thx again
Good list but in this market u will be very hard pressed to find those cars under $3k unless they have over 200k miles or need a lot of work
Dude seriously. And the thumbnail car is worth like 20k for a nice one. And shitty r title ones still sale for 7k or more.
This channel is a joke if you want to take it seriously we need to time travel back to when the economy wasn’t ruined
+1 for an e46 coupe. Low km, clean, for $2200! Now it’s been manual swapped, modded… and has been my reliable daily for 5 years!
I needed a daily and bought a 2000 camry for $800, best buy I've ever made!
old toyotas are monsters... my mom had a 1996 toyota avalon for like 10 years when i was a younger and it made it to about 250k before it got impounded bc of my uncle lol. the price to get the car out was more than the car itself, this was around 2011. That thing was a straight luxury car in the early 2000s
Glad to see the E39 get some love, I bought a non-running example for 800, now I'm working on getting it up and running
Get er done
I bought an 07 TL type S last year. I have absolutely no regrets, the J35 is peppy and puts a smile on my face.
You used to be able to find a rare V6 manual 4th gen Eclipse for that price- I got mine for 3. They're absolute slept on steals and rip just as hard as a 350z and can compete, not necessarily beat, cars that are more expensive. The 4 cylinder automatics are weak especially paired with their heavy weight but the 6 cylinder manuals are no joke. They didn't make many though so finding one is hard enough, let alone still in good shape.
The actual version of the title is: "Cars that you can buy for under 3k dollars but need to spend twice as much money and time to make it drivable" (Not all but most of it)
Maintenance is key for every car, but don't forget the car guy triangle Fast, Cheap and Reliable... you can only have two of those, with varying percentages. I agree with Brad on choosing almost every car on the list, and choosing the E46 as the best choice, I have a E46. If you find an example without rust, everything else is cheap to maintain and parts are not that hard on the budget as some people think. I had a 325i which I crashed while drifting when I was a "noob", now I own a 328i, the only thing that broke was the fan controller, but it didn't overheat (because I caught it in time). I got a new fan with fan controller for $50, a coolant expansion tank for $40 and I did change the sparkplugs because they were old.... that's all for a 3 year ownership of the car. (Not counting the tuning I did to it).
P.S.- It has 300k miles, original motor... so if someone told you that they are not reliable, he is not a reliable.
As a mechanic and a person who has had a few including a 325i 01 they are trash and even if you can do the work yourself and the parts are cheap wink wink in comparison they are trash…. Nobody says you can’t find the exception to the rule but highly unlikely
It depends where you live too, parts are expensive if you live out of state and theres also a reason 8 of 13 cars were japanese brands...
@@Everydayprojects365I know late, but are you saying the E46's in general are trash? Or the 325i?
Love watching and doing nationwide searches as each car comes up and seeing how often the cheapest car for sale is three times the price listed. Happens more often than not.
The reason you can find Xterras that are both low mileage and dirt cheap is cause their transmissions grenade themselves all the time, despite not being Jatco CVTs.
I had an xterra that just needed a little work for $700!, wound up driving it over a hundred miles a day to and from work, plus other trips!
Wound up selling it for like $4k, though with a killer system in it since a buddy bought it.. yeah kinda miss it, aside from the shitty gas mileage and gutless engine.. lol
Had an e46 coupe and it led me into truly getting into cars. Such a fun car to drive and pretty simple to work on. Years later, I know have a 435i coupe which I love even more.
I love how the TL was #1 on the list JSERIES gang🔥
Just at the right time needed this right now
keep the amazing video's homie
I bought a 2005 Accord for $2500 4 years ago😂. Still running like a champion . Right now it has 213k miles. Great car.
Good to hear, I just got a 06 with 144k.
The INFINITI G35 and Acura TL is my top 2 cars luxurious both V6 and fun to drive for about 3k dollars
Love this video especially owning a e39 years ago but disclaimer a lot of these cars that are listed have been abused over the years and it’s hard to find any without major problems
Bought a Scion tC brand new back in the day. That was a great car. Drive it to over 100k and it still felt brand new.
Sell to me please
I picked up my manual E46 325xi AWD for 1,300 and it was advertised for 1,800. With a few updates and light mods, I have a solid car.
If you listen to these guys and get a 3 grand BMW you will have a car owning experience similar to hell.
Lmao what 🤣
Facts
Can confirm, still living this hell
The way he transitions between the cars is soo good😅
#8 G35 ftw if you want rwd. I had one for 5 years. Best overall package. If you don’t care if it’s rwd then I’d go with #13 Acura TL
I drove my friends tc recently never floored it but I was very surprised it felt effortless like it was a turbo. Even at highway speeds i barley had to press the gas to get up to 95
I drove an svt focus and it was so much fun to drive! Damn, I miss that car!!
Nice informed vid straight to the door
Brad, when you wax eloquently about supercars makes the heart sing!
scion tcs also had really bad issues with burning oil up until the earlier models
2.4 l Engine ng...older 2.2 l runs and runs..
07-08 Acura TL Type -S Hands Down! You will only be able to get The paddle shifter Automatic though with over 200k for maybe $4000-5000... $3000 if you're lucky with a little TLC... Because Even a Manual Type S with over 200k are going for 7,500-10,000 all day some for $6,500... You won't find them cheaper than that... Ive seen maybe a handful of 6 speed Manuals in my life go for $4500-$5500 but they needed work. Cheapest ever was 3,500 with 500,000 miles on it lol...
Another Nice segment Brad and Crew from Ideal Media
I have had 2 Acura TL‘s I’ve been very lucky. 2006 black TL -$3,000
And I happened to snag a red 07 TL-S for -$1,500. Absolutely love the platform, and I believe they are at the bottom of their depreciation curve.
Sidenote I worked at Acura for a year. While I was there I had seen 2 TL‘s with 400,000 miles ++. One of them in pristine condition.
@@dprogamer9689 I worked at a Honda dealer and this guy with a 2.0t accord manual came in all the time had 635k miles before he got t boned. He said he got all those miles because he drove cross country on call 24/7 dude made bank.
Love the 3rd gen TLs. Im shopping for my 3rd TL-S and rebuilding the trans on my current one (which I just blew up about 2 hours ago rip). The fact u got a red TL-S at $1.5k is insane lol good for u. Im shopping for the perfect example 6-mt and will unfortunately probably end up paying $25k
Would u be selling that red 07 TL-S anytime soon🤔
That V6 is a Isuzu engine.....i got a 99 vehicross, love it..
I was planning on stealing a car soon. Thanks for the help!!
Bro wat👾
You covered my favourite BMs
Cool video bro 😅 haha Liked!! 💙💯✔️
I have a Acura TL type S ... going on 4yrs. I love it ❣️🤩
Honestly, we just bought a 2004 Mk4 Golf TDI a few months back for $2k, and absolutely love it.
love my xterra! 2001 4x4 manual i bought for $2500. tough as nails!
The supercharged 5spd 4wd version of the nissan exterra was a nice lil beater back in the day. Especially now days even cheaper.
My friend and I both got 1.5 gen usdm focus's several years ago for $1,000. Mine has almost 200k miles and his has 400k miles and they've costed almost nothing to keep running. Buzzy ride & cheap interior but as reliable as corollas so far.
Found a mk4 1.8t Jetta on the cheap with good mileage that I’m going to look at this weekend. It’s an automatic but I’ve driven one and they’re pretty fun even with the auto
Just a note about the Forester: good cars, especially with a manual trans, but the ones that are $3k are probably the right age to have the EJ25 with weak head gaskets. Buyer beware.
Found an '05 legacy gt in really nice shape for the like $3.5k asking price, same 2.5 turbo as the wrx, but also an '08 gti 2.0t and a 4 door no less for $3200.. also have a '10 mazdaspeed3 lined up for $3k, not perfect but def pretty decent for the little bit i can get together rt now.. i am torn on which to get-- love my vw's, and haven't had 1 since the pos '98 vr6 jetta but nervous about the subaru, plus the gti gets way better milage so thinkin the gti is it.. esp cause the mazda is having overboost issues and the $3k is the absolute bottom line on that one..
Anyway, hopefully ill manage to pick a decent one- best of my limited choices..
Love the Golf wordplay
Love the fourth gen Acura tl on the cover
Yea but kinda annoyed they used it as the thumbnail. You can't buy one for 3k you can hardly get a r titled one for 7k. And 3rd gen tl's do not fucking sell for 3k.
3 years ago I got lucky with an 05’ TL automatic, 120k miles and just one owner that took care of it. Still running strong at 140k miles!
WOW, only 20kmi in that long!?!?! I do that in 20 weeks..
i’m looking to get a second car so this is the perfect list for me
I knew the 4th-Gen TL in the thumbnail wasn’t going to be cheap.
I own a 1999 Toyota Camry and I love it great gas mileage
I used to own a 95 camry manual drove it over 320k miles with just regular maintenance the most reliable car i own
I would never buy a used German engineered car unless you're willing to simk a thousand bucks or more into it every year for repairs and maintenance. Definitely go with a Japanese car.
E46 would be a nice first car
should have had a special mention for the m45 05-08, pretty good v8 for the price.
The second gen GS300 and 400 is good too. Two great cars with tons of tuning and better yet drifting potential (especially the 300 with the 2jz). I've had both and they were smooth yet fun cars, plus it is a rarity for anyone to have them so it will also me a great car if you want to stand out from the crowd.
I picked up a Land Rover Discovery 1 V8 manual for around 1500USD. Few hundred bucks to fix the transmission and boom! Had to replace the door after an off-road oops. Still a lot of sun for the money
I have an 01 golf gls with a 1.8t and its been quite the putter. Originally got it for only $2.5k a little over 3 years ago with 132k miles. Plenty of problems over the years but the worst was when my 3rd gear went out. Ended up getting it rebuilt for 3k(more than the car was worth) because the used car market had just exploded in price. Still love the car. It has a P0420 code that went away after i put air in my tires. Cant make sense of it.
correlation ≠ causation
@@byloyuripka9624 no way, i thought my o2 sensor was in the tire this whole time
Uhhhh get rid of that junk at this point
🤣🤣🤣
I only know one person who had a VE (03 beetle) but that thing was GARBAGE and expensive to fix.
Nice video but all. Subarus are fun on twisty backroads 👍🏾
LIKED!👍
I bought a 2008 WRX for $3k. 182k miles, salvage title (I know and trust the guys who brought it back), all the important high mileage replacement work done while they rebuilt it (probably a $7-8k job). Bought for a cheap car road trip with my friends and praying it lasts 2k miles.
Did you end up taking the trip yet?
@@EBK3lohim not yet we are doing it in March or April when the snow starts melting.
Sweet, hope it does what ya need it to! Im torn between a legacy gt turbo, a gen2 mazdaspeed3 and an '08 gti.. all actually seem pretty decent, just are like 3+hrs away except the Subaru in only an hour away..
Hoping i get the best one, which is prob the mazda, but its overboosting at the moment, hopefully its just this stupid bov they installed and nothing major..
Fingers crossed..
big fan!
My grandparents own a stock supercharged rear wheel drive only xterra and it pretty fun to drive
Ahhh… those were the days. Some of the cheapest cars that I’ve owned were the most fun! A falcon, a rambler a Corsair and a beat chev Elle wagon. I guess that’s why we called ‘em beaters. Yep
Pontiac grand prix gtp coupe/ monte carlo ss supercharged be bought for under $3000.
Cheap and easy to learn to modify. Can make up to 700 hp out of the 3800 with a different transmission. And they handle great with mods for that Also. Only downfall the 4t65ehd transmission is limited to 300hp.
Thank you
Thank u I was eating for a bud like this
I’ve always wanted a Scion TC it’s a shame they never got the same MPG’s as the Camry considering it’s the same engine
Finally some love to the forester 😂
AAAYYYYEEEE! E46 here! 2003 330xi! Daily.
The Toyota avalon shares the same motor and chassis as the 300. Was kind of expecting it after the 300.
Just got a 2005 audi 8l for 3k 3 owner 120k big car but definitely picks up and great ride I love my e46 tho
Sometimes I want to go back in time and look for the most ideal cars for my 1st
Not a single one of these is under 3k nowadays cuz “everyone know what they got”
I’d go with the Xterra baby,
Nissan for life!
It definitely ain't this way in some states 🤣 there are people who are asking about 3-4x that price for those things here. And yet a couple states over, they're selling for dirt cheap.
Can you do cheap cars with hood sound systems
I got a rebuilt title G37 coupe a couple months ago and I’m having a blast in it. It’s fast, reliable and looks pretty good if you take care of it. Won’t find one for 3k but I was able to get mine for 4500 and 130k miles. Not bad at all
In my province you can find A LOT of 300c's from 05-07 for unders 4k, bought my 05 srt8 for 2k and all I had to do was change brakes and replace interlock latch
Could you do best winter cars under $2000
From '11-14 I found an '03 Durango 2wd, 99 mustang non-gt, and a 99 Q45 w/black housing jdm headlights & chrome wheels all for $3k ea.
Within 6months the Durango blew up (my fault for not changing the oil). Within a week the Mustang blew the AC compressor and blew the clutch into pieces in 2months and water pump was toast in 5months. The Q45 needed a new transmission within 2wks. The dealer paid half. There's no way he didn't know when he sold it.. looking back I should've lemon-lawed it.
... After all that nonsense, I just bought a '11 Sonata from my dad and had zero problems lol
I have a 04 e46 and she is still running strong. Little maintenance here and there too
Got a 98 mustang with 25k miles on it for 3500 last year, quite a steal
Where did u find that deal
Kool I would only buy the Lotus Elise or Exige in the list most awesome handling for its time
Maybe the 6 Speed G35 Nissan. ( Stiff chassis good handling reliability)
👦👍🏎🏁
we don't have even a single of these cars in india ,
still love ur video , and they are addictive ,
still shocked that used cars are so cheap in west
Lol, my previous golf4 wagon had the check engine light come and go🤣
bro the prices here in the Netherlands both the purchase, petrol and insurance are sky high
As an 09 TL owner, I can confirm that they are cheap fun. I mean I’m owner #3 after my dad and little brother, but “Kira” runs like new
Kira is my cats name 😂. DeathNote
That's a crazy title guys
Where can I get that t-shirt!!
Brad Danger is back !
l have a 04 TL dealer demo l bought in 06 with the intention of driving it few years and doing the same thing ( buy a 1 to 2 year old certified returned lease or whatever) l finally bought another car in June 17 years later. I love the TL so much l didn't want to drive anything else and couldn't find a reason to replace it. l finally did when gas prices went through the roof and it runs on premium. As it turns out l still drive the TL more than the Mazda. I highly recommend the 3rd gen TL
That Neutral Drop clip at 11:49 👀
look out for that headgasket on the forrester
2:17 I SWEAR starfire autos always has the cool cars for the cheapest, I ain’t even bought one but I swear every time I browse at cars for fun starfire autos has had a cool cheap one. I saw a Saturn ioN redline there a few months ago for $3k or something and then recently they had something else. Cool and Cheap I forgot. This isn’t a sponsor I only commented thIs because I thought it was cool a dealership I’ve browsed before was in this video
If you live in cali get ready to pay 3k extra for a salvage version with 200k miles
focus svt for the win.......always wanted one didnt know they bottomed out like that
Had a cavalier manual everything, sold it at 300k most reliable car ever don't even think I did one oil change just added oil
Bought a 3rd gen tl with 2 12s for 3,500 a year ago it has yet to break down and lose a race unless it's a corvette
What about the Chevy Aveo from 2002 to 2010 or the Kia Rio from 2002 to 2010? Did I mention the best deals of all? The Geo Metro & the Yugo.😊
170k miles for 5k? im sorry little jimmy but if you want a celica for under 3k its not happening
I’d like to know how and where you managed to find a G35 for 3k😅
bought a 1996 accord lx for 1000, its my first car and my project car
